My dad is was very helpful when it comes to me needing a pad or tampon when I was young but unfortunately he as anger issues so he can’t help or understand or deal with me when Im in a mood so I stopped bothering to tell him im on my period anymore since it resulted in me getting in trouble because I kept complaining about how much pain I was in or just the fact I was irritated for no reason.
Another big step for this series is normalizing periods. Even for me it was a bit unusual seeing periods and period products being so normalized because it feels like the whole world treats periods as something that is gross, unusual, and shouldn’t be talked about. I’m really glad that regular self care and hygiene is starting to be normalized!

When this came out, I was so happy to see Baymax helping with this, seeing the dad getting his daughter pads, and seeing the trans guy being confident buying tampons in public! I’m 12 and I haven’t gotten a period yet, and seeing shows like this or even movies (this, since it’s from Disney, isn’t the most heartwarming though) makes me feel secure to know that I can find something to help me through it when I start ❤

I like how maturely they handle themes like this in the show. Baymax is a robot designed to help people, so he doesn't judge the girl when she gets her period, and goes out of his way to find the best solution to her problem. Baymax offered very sound advice, and gave the girl comfort when she felt stressed.
I love this and Baymax is just the best soft marshmallow robot to have this kind of interaction that doesn’t make a big show of transgender, instead it shows that they are just like everyone else and their opinions is just as valid. 😊

When Turning Red came out my 11 year old son freaking LOVED it but of course missed all the period subtext ... On about the 700th viewing he asked me about the bathroom and the pad throwing scenes so I got the change to explain periods to him without having to throw it at him unexplained.... I love that movie for that. hey i know no one will see this, but i just wanna put this out there. i think its very nice that the transman was wearing a trans shirt. though obviously unrealistic, i think it was a way to completely invalidate any bigots trying to explain that he wasnt trans. they made it as obvious as possible and i appreciate the straight forwardness.

As a trans person, the whole shirt being transgender flagged is so unrealistic, does disney think trans people go in public like “IM TRANS! YIPPIEEE”, A trans pin or accessory would be so much more realistic, not the whole shirt being trans themed is just asking to be hate crimed.

When this came out, I was so happy to see Baymax helping with this, seeing the dad getting his daughter pads, and seeing the trans guy being confident buying tampons in public! I’m 12 and I haven’t gotten a period yet, and seeing shows like this or even movies (this, since it’s from Disney, isn’t the most heartwarming though) makes me feel secure to know that I can find something to help me through it when I start ❤

Baymax is a robot designed to help people, so he doesn't judge the girl when she gets her period, and goes out of his way to find the best solution to her problem. Baymax offered very sound advice, and gave the girl comfort when she felt stressed.

When Turning Red came out my 11 year old son freaking LOVED it but of course missed all the period subtext ... On about the 700th viewing he asked me about the bathroom and the pad throwing scenes so I got the change to explain periods to him without having to throw it at him unexplained.... I love that movie for that. As a single mum, I could err on the side of telling him too much OR not enough so Turning Red solved that problem for me ❣️❣️ Thanks Mai-Mai ❣️❣️

I think this video was created not to say everyone will have them but anyone regardless of gender identity can. Men can because of trans masc dudes and women can because of cis women and then there're nonbinary people who sometimes just have the set of parts for them. And in some cases trans women actually develop a large number of the period symptoms being stuff like bloating and cramps. I love science
