"Is our food in the UK just flavourless?"
Americans: Yes
I’m always in London and love the uk but the answer is yes I agree lol😂
Funny stuff ... apparently he didn't get the worlwide memo 😅
HEB was founded in Kerrville, Texas in 1905 by Florence Butt. It's consistently ranked as one of the top grocery stores. Bluebell ice cream was founded by Bluebell Creamery in 1907 and was only available in Texas for many years. Now it's available across many southern states. Once you eat Bluebell you will crave it and nothing else will do.😊🎉
Texans will talk to anyone anywhere anytime. We love daily interactions especially if humor is included.
As a teen I lived in Buckinghamshire in the Sixties because my father was stationed at US Air Force High Wycombe, now a RAF base. We Americans found the English food quite bland. But I went back to visit England in 2009 and found the food much more tasty. Foods I could only find at the US AF base had pizza, hamburgers, spaghetti, Mac and cheese, mainly food that had more flavor than salt and white pepper. My English friends thought cinnamon toast was too spicy.
13:05 "it's meant to be plain and taste of nothing... like bread"
I've never heard a sentence that communicated so accurately that someone has never had good bread before.
As someone who has had fresh baked bread, I agree. That point where you rip it open in the middle and had that steam flow out. So fresh.
My mom used to make bread and she coated the outside with butter. When it baked the crust was all crusty with butter and it was very special and delicious.
This! It’s the reason I make bread! Even so-so homemade bread is much better than store bought. When I was a teenager Great Harvest Bread Company was pretty popular in our area and inspired me to learn to bake.
@@sprowett1402we had a breadmaker when I was younger and I hated that bread. The texture was tolerable. But I hated the smell and it didnt taste much better. I don't know if my parents didn't have a good recipe or if it was the machine itself.
I've got a friend now who makes and sells sourdough which is really good but sometimes I just want a wheat/grain bread
How do you make yours?
Fresh tortillas are beyond delicious... 😋
We are super friendly here in Texas. I was at an outdoor Mexican market and a lady from the UK was looking at Mexican Wedding Shirts. She wanted to buy one for her nephew back home. She wasn't sure about what to buy and mentioned to the owner her nephew was about my size. I gave her my opinion on the shirts, modeled a few for her and helped her decide which to buy. She thanked the shop owner for having an employee who was such a good sport trying shirts on for her. The owner then told her I was a customer. She looked at me, I imagine a bit mortified, and I smiled and said, "Ma’am, welcome to Texas. Happy to help."
I really think such acts of kindness and helpfulness are holdovers from the pioneer days, when if a neighbor didn’t help…there was no one else! It’s just in our DNA!
I remind myself frequently that being born in America is kinda like winning the lottery! I try to be thankful, even when it’s hard to be….
I agree. I love that you helped so much. I just don't know how whole countries can just not speak to one another "just because" they are strangers. I went to DC for vacation and this Japanese woman who only knew maybe a few words of English asked me for the time, and then tried very hard to ask for directions. I sat there with her for 20 minutes trying to get her to where she was going. All I do is think of myself if I were in a foreign country and was lost, wouldn't I want someone to help me? Plus, on vacations especially, I have met so many really nice people myself who went out of there way to tell me best places to eat, party, workout, places to go that are not tourist traps, and in one case, my friend and I got invited to this guys family reunion after we ate at his restaurant and we had a blast...it was awesome!
A good, fresh tortilla is amazing.
i love this! we get a bad rep.
It's a Texas thing, it's who we are...love that story
The thing about Heb’s “store brand” is it’s most of the time better than “name brand”
Very true. This episode makes me miss living in Texas....and HEB
Yes absolutely
100%
Can confirm, I buy as much HEB brand items as I can. Economical and better flavor.
So TRUE
I’m Mexican-American and live in Texas. We do eat tortillas plain if they are done well. The ones at HEB are indeed buttery and delicious, just as they are. I’ve lived in the UK and yes, y’all don’t have good tortillas. You’ll need to come to HEB Lewis and find out for yourself.
I had a friend who was born and raised in McAllen, Texas, and her mom used to make home made tortillas and ship them to her. We would warm them up and put butter on them. They were so delicious.
Do you have 2 passports? Otherwise you're an American 100%
I can agree. The only thing better than H-E-B tortillas are homemade tortillas that haven’t been botched
I grew up in Texas and Arizona, and yeah good fresh made tortillas can just be eaten plain or plain with a little bit of butter.
I want to open up a mexican cafe in London, that would make money
"Toilet paper is toilet paper, bruh," spoken like someone who hasn't had really *really* nice TP before.
1-ply is like tissue paper, 2-ply is like sandpaper, and 3-ply done right is like a pillow for your bum.
Everyone missed it…they went in daytime and came out nighttime! 😆
So true! I can spend hours in a grocery store
Yup goes to show how big it is 😂
I noticed. They were looking for specific recommendations and chatting with folks. Plus there's zillions of products that distract you when shopping. LOL! And, it takes time making big decisions like which ice cream flavors to get!!!
I went to HEB Central Market (promoting hatch peppers day) and came out 4 hours later.
lol!! You can get all your steps in for a day going into our giant stores! 😂
We just had a Hurricane in Texas. H‑E‑B was the first store open. They have special generators that run on liquid gas. They are always the first store to open after a hurricane. Many times they deliver food and water to emergency centers across the city that people can go to after the hurricane for free. Houston just went for 10 days without power.
Actually, the generators run on natural gas, not LPG.
Their rep got into the disaster area before FEMA. He ordered the 3 best selling of every item to restock and open.
As an American who lives in Texas, these videos make me realize how much I take for granted. Being able to shop at HEB, Wal-Mart, Sam's Club etc. is a luxury.
Same! Thankful that I have US citizenship, plus a Texan. I love to travel, but I can always come back home 😊
I wish more people appreciated the stuff we have. Not so much what we have but just the fact we have access is what's amazing.
I’ll admit my opinion of HEB was probably tarnished because the ones in Laredo were awful. They had a monopoly and their stores were always dirty. I will say they nail it on tortillas. I would start eating them on the way home. 😂
That is one I am going to seriously miss H-E-B when I move to Oregon! 😢
Right!! We are so spoiled!!
It makes me love my Texas even more! I love our country and I’m so glad I live in Texas!❤
In Texas, Queso is considered it's own food group.
As an American Hispanic, there was nothing better then to be in the kitchen as mom made fresh flour tortillas, and she'd grab one off the comal spread some butter on it, hand it to you and told you to go play until supper was ready.
yes totally agree, I even made my mom send me some every holiday/birthday when I was over seas because I knew that she was making them... Never had anything to put on them and all my friend in my unit looked at me like I was crazy and I only shared 1 literally 1 with my best friend lololol
@vinaryn6064 Same haha. I even had my wife send me Big Red and those were the only thing I didn't openly share.
A flour tortilla hot off the flame with melted butter is the world's greatest breakfast. My other half never experienced that joy so he looks at me like I'm crazy when I make them
@@mariabradshaw4857 He will catch on eventually.
❤
Those poor guys, no one has ever taught them the proper way to shop in a grocery store. You save frozen foods until last that way you don’t have to worry about melting.
And meats....I live in Florida...you save anything that can melt, or meat until youre ready to get in line. Many times Ive been in line, remembered a forgotten item and thought "this chicken though." The heat is no joke...Im sure itll be fine, but for me its like a countdown to get it in the fridge.
“It’s plain, it has no flavor”. No, that’s a British thing. Everything in America is packed with flavor… and butter. It’s why we are fat and don’t apologize for it. 😂
I find it funny that Brits only refer to chocolate cereals when thinking of American cereal. Chocolate cereals aren't even usually our favorites.
speak for yourself lol. give me cocoa puffs or cocoa pebbles all day
@@fmfdocbotl4358 Gotta get that choccy milk for after all the cereal is gone. =P
Give me Peanut Butter Crunch any day
I do like Chocolate Cheerios but as a snack, dry, not in a bowl with milk
I like Golden Grahams straight out of the box or in milk, that turns a grahamy taste with a touch of honey to it.
Yeah, I grew up in Colorado and married my Texan husband who promptly moved us down to Texas. I refuse to leave this state. Everyone is so friendly, I've had 2 hour long conversations with strangers (yes multiple people) at HEB. HEB, the people, and the city I live in is really nice and safe.
I totally have long conversations with strangers at the grocery store.
What’s confusing is that Great Britain built a huge industry in the spice trade, yet never thought of trying it in their own foods!
LOL 😂
That is a true statement and it is bewildering. 😂
And yet they LOVE their curry!
Amen!
Fresh made tortillas are totally different
Freshly made corn tortillas with some salted butter spread on them is a fucking delicacy. So. Damn. Delish!
I couldn't agree more. HEB tortillas are the best. You can actually stand and watch them being made. Nothing like a warm fresh handmade tortilla.
100%
Yes, they are.
We've three HEB stores within 15 minutes of our home. Closest is 5 minutes down the road and i shop there for everything! The produce is amazing, with a ton of variety. You can find just about anything. The bakery is lovely, they have a deli counter as well as a butcher and fish counter, they have a large cheese counter for specialty cheeses. They have an in house florist, a gas station, a car wash, an outdoor center, and our location has a local coffee shop. Oh, and a BBQ restaurant. Their house brands are better than national brands and theyre cheaper! I LOVE my HEB!!!
HEB is also extremely philanthropic, supports the community, and they treat their employees very well.
And YES. The butter tortillas ARE that good.
One HEB store had a power outage at the beginning of the pandemic. There were long lines of people with baskets full of food. The manager told everyone since the registers were down to just take their groceries for free. HEB was founded by a woman and passed it down to her son. They still believe in service to community.
HEB is the ish!

the story is: "Blue Bell" was the name of the first cow that the company bought to start making ice cream from milk... and it was soooo good, that they named the company after her.... don't know if it's true. but that's what we were told when we took a tour of the factory...
Blue Bell, the best ice cream in the countryyy. Blue Bell, the best ice cream in the country, yodel-odel-oooo!
I loved getting the free sample cone at the end.
Blue Bell is absolutely the best ice cream!
I'm eating blue bell ice cream right now. I'm not in TX. It stays cold to the very end! No fake creamy after taste. It's the best!
Blue Bell is the only ice cream. Lol ❤️
H-E-B Plus employee here
We are ride or die for our brand. Can confirm that this store franchise alone can take care of the entire state of Texas for decades lol
As a fellow HEB Plus partner, I can confirm this truth. HEB and Hill Country Fare are where it's at.
I am so happy that HEB installed generators at its locations. They were a life saver during the last hurricane.
Maybe one day we will get videos of Lewis in the States trying all the things that he's been reacting to. I personally can't wait to see it. 😊
I have a strange feeling if he comes to America he will never go back. He seems like a true blooded American born on the wrong side of the pond lol
“Why is it so big”?
Simple, everything’s bigger in Texas.
This is a super center there’s smaller ones we have both in our town if I am just running in for a few things I will go to the smaller one
We Americans are friendly and love helping people and each other. ❤
Especially to the British whom many Americans consider as family.
@@snowdogthewolf Heck, a lot of us still have family in the UK haha.
I can testify to that
❤
Texas Americans are very friendly. Most people from the south are friendly.
HEB is where most Texans do their shopping.
I live in the Dallas-Ft.Worth area and we still don’t have HEB stores here.
@@kaymuldoon3575Dang, I live in the outskirts of Austin and have 4 different ones all within 3 miles of my house. 😅 I actually thought they had built one in Dallas but I guess that was a rumor I heard a few years ago.
Is HEB like a Walmart or more like a Sam's/Cosco? We do much of our shopping (NC) at Walmart and Sam's, but it appears this particular HEB dwarfs either one.
@@kaymuldoon3575we literally have a ton of HEBs in DFW. I’m in Fort Worth and I have two within 15 minutes of me
@snowdogthewolf It's not a warehouse store and it's more like Walmart but with their food choices at least double. Also, HEB has great house brands! I've only had one house brand item I didn't like and so we buy them alot
The US is full of the decendants of people who had the balls to leave their own country, just in hopes of something better. When they got here, we all spoke different languages, and a smile and being friendly was how you communicated and got by. And thats our culture. No matter where you are, people will be friendly.
It's so hilarious to me how you brits get so excited about grocery stores & fast food 🤣 😂😂👍
I find it terribly sad that they eat horrible food most of the time. Like I don't find it funny and I wish Lewis focused more on American people because the food stuff is depressing, I genuinely feel bad for them.
I feel bad for them too, but then I remember how they said some of our food looks like puke, and telling US what biscuits and gravy are 😂 A lot of Brits don't like Americans and they don't seem to be taught much about American history, for some reason 😇
@@FourFish47 Regarding our history, why would they? In our schools the most we ever learn about Brits is that they have a monarchy and the original colonies were under their rule. Anything other than that we learn on our own through reading, t.v., social media, etc. Besides, they have hundreds of years of their own country to learn about compared to our mere 248.
@@donnabert Let's conquer the whole world, make everyone a colony, take all their spices, and then never ever put any of those spices on any food.
Pip pip and cheerio!
“Is our food in the UK just flavorless?” Yes. Yes, it is.
Fresh made tortillas, especially with butter are amazing
I feel like the American customers are over hearing these two's open conversations in the grocery store and realize they are British and genuinely curious. Some Americans, depending on where you live in America, are openly friendly.
Almost positive it’s most just in south.
@@natashathomasson1659 I have family in the South and the Midwest and both sides are very friendly in different ways. People who have moved to my home state from California and the PNW have also been really friendly, though I don't know if they didn't fit in back home.
Texas has HEB, Florida has Publix... Based on this video, Texas wins...
In a contest between Florida and Texas - NOBODY WINS!!!
I lived in Florida for nine months (broke my lease to flee) and Publix is the trashiest grocery store I have ever experienced. I have no idea why you are bringing that up. It's like they are test driving a mercedes and you said "I drove a honda once but I guess this wins," yikes.
@@StoneE4 Word
There are some unique Publix stores, like ones that even serves alcohol. As in drinks to drink while you are there shopping. I think mainly in tourist beach areas. Generally speaking, I’ve always enjoyed shopping in Publix, even my local ones without hard drinks.
@@donnabert Publix here in GA are all super nice. They are nothing special, but not a single one I have been to has been trashy. You should stop living in the hood.
Yes. The tortillas are sold freshly cooked/still warm and they’re that good.
I've never wished I was born anywhere but America.
Of course if you were born elsewhere you’d say the same things there. Youre product of your surroundings
I was born I the US, but I would love to move to Scotland.
As an American, agreed.

Funny. I live in NE Houston and just got my power back from the whooping we got from Hurricane Beryl. Had to rush to HEB to pick up supplies and am currently eating a plain butter tortilla as I watch this video.
Blue Bell is the brand. It's made in Texas and it's the champion of the world.
It's also made in Alabama
@@harrietbredehoft6578 Brennan, Texas is the home of Blue Bell ice cream. This is where it began. I'm glad it's now made in other places because it's great ice cream.
My favorite Blue Bell flavor is Tin Roof. Tastes similar to a Hersey's Mr. Goodbar... However, this isn't available everyday at my grocery store so I usually end up buying Butter Pecan...
@@ronclark9724 I haven't tried a bad flavor yet but vanilla bean is no. 1 for me. Butter Pecan 2nd.
We went to Blue Bell ice cream in Brennan and bought ice cream for $1.00 only & it’s a lot 😂
I’m an American that lived in the UK for 3 years after college. I love watching your videos. To answer your question, many of your foods are pretty bland. However, I miss buying Pizza Express dough balls at Tesco. We brought our car over with us and the amount of people who would take pictures of our car always made us laugh, great conversation starter. We would hand out US candy on Halloween and all of the kids in our neighborhood would get so excited.
My son lives in Round Rock, just outside Austin, Texas. He's got an HEB near his place. The store is wonderful. Bought a mess of crap to cook for him while we stayed. We drove 9 hours to get to Round Rock and our car was plastered with bugs. HEB had a car wash in their parking lot....Yeh an HEB car wash. So we not only got some great grub...We got the bugs cleaned off our car!!
Have him pick me up some donuts
Marketing is a good skill to have.
I wonder if the plan was to have customers think "Since I'm here, I might as well get a car wash" or "Since I'm getting my car washed, I might as well pick up some fresh tortillas"?
Toilet paper is not just toilet paper. Someone send this man some Charmin!
Bluebell is a Texas institution. I moved to Maine and I really really miss it. I miss a LOT of the food from TX.
Texan here. I will engage in conversation and make recommendations to anyone, anytime.

HEB is primarily a grocery store... just food and food related items... the 'Plus' is for non-food related items, so it's slightly bigger...
Excellent info, thanks! 👍
I live in L.A. & people always ask for opinions from other shoppers & offer opinions on good things to buy at a particular store. We talk to random people standing in lines, pretty much everywhere. I think it definitely is an American thing. We see a lot of tourists in L.A. & if I see someone that looks confused or overhear a question, I always step right up & try to assist. I talk to more people that I don’t know in a regular day, than people I actually know. 😺

HEB is fantastic, only in Texas and Mexico. Having been to Europe (incl. GB), our toilet paper is VERY different. Very soft. And pecan is pronounced puh-KAHN. At least in Texas.
We pronounce pecan the same way here in Oklahoma. I wish HEB and Buc-ee's would expand up here and open up some stores. I know they'd do well.
I hope you have better luck than I have getting Lewis to pronounce pecan properly. I’ve told him I will subscribe when he says jalapeño instead of jalepeeno. I have spelled both phonetically, puh-KAHN and hali-PAIN-yo. But, no luck, yet.

A typical H.E.B. store is about 55,000 square feet, an H.E.B. +Plus is 100,000 to 200,000 square feet. In an H.E.B. +Plus they have all the groceries and also furniture, clothing, books, DVDs, seasonal items, garden supplies and plants, and automotive accessories. Also they usually have an entire restaurant of some kind IN the store. The HEB near my house has a TRUE TEXAS BBQ inside the store. So you can go in, order BBQ and sit down and eat it or get some cooked BBQ and sides to take home with you after you finish shopping. : )
Most H.E.B.’s have a pharmacy and a bakery, but not all of them make their own tortillas.
Lewis, a good taco starts with a good tortilla! If and when you come to Texas, get some fresh made tortillas and medium spicy guacamole, then dump some guacamole on that tortilla - and eat away!
We have a True Texas BBQ in one of our HEBs here in Killeen.
The largest H-E-B Plus is 182,000 sq ft. A grocery store chain in Wisconsin builds stores that average 230,000 sq ft, but they are full grocery stores, too.
YES! They are THAT good! My dad worked at HEB when I was a toddler, and the store is amazing. We would get our pictures developed and go shopping while we wait. The stores are amazing, and use local farmers for produce.
America has all this STUFF because of our capitalist entrepreneurial spirit that gives us the incentive to create new things and products and make some money while we are at it. I have a friend that has gumball machines all over the city of Portland and makes a living off the money. CRAZY. My Grandmother had 3 Hot Dog stands at the Boardwalk at Atlantic City New Jersey in the 1950's and that is how she raised my family. She made and sold pickles and eventually sold them at grocery stores around the East Coast. Cool stuff
The "American Dream" is still alive. My neighbor makes his living working out of his food truck at various breweries and taverns. He's loaded.
I have a friend who is a chef and she turned her dishes into medicinal ones to help cancer patients, or Anyone around our areas who need food assistance. I have Parkinson's and I love her infused honey!! she travels to different festivals here in Missouri because it's legal. She has helped so many people.
And it’s sad to hear people dis capitalism. They have no idea what they are talking about.
Awesome!
Yup

Wisconsin is home to a grocery store chain known for its exceptionally large stores. The largest H-E-B Plus store is 182,000 sq ft, while a Wisconsin-based grocery store builds all of its stores between 200,000 sq ft and 250,000 sq ft.
The largest location is in Kenosha, Wisconsin, with a total area of 250,000 sq ft. Woodman's Markets, with its 19 locations, has an average store size of 230,000 sq ft. A 20th location will be built in Racine, Wisconsin, in the coming year. Woodman's is the largest grocery store in the United States in terms of average store size. On average, U.S. grocery stores (like H-E-B) are typically two to three times larger than U.K. grocery stores.
I LOVE THIS STORE! I go every time we go to Texas to visit family and that's every 3 months! 😂
HEB was actually founded by Florence Butt mother of Howard Butt. If you wanna learn about H-E-B, go to Wikipedia and look up founder of HEB. It’s a great store to work for and everybody can be really friendly and yes, they do have the great tortillas.
I worked there for 3 years.
When I go to chain Mexican food where they don’t have fresh tortillas you realize you are eating inferior Mexican food There is a local place “Taco Cabana” that has fresh tortillas being made directly in front of you and they’ve had in the past ice cold bottled beer at the counter, this is the local Taco Bell competitor
In L.A. they have a restaurant that has a fire burning in the middle of it, with little old ladies sitting around it, making tortillas. They pat and pat and pat the tortillas, then at some point slap them onto a hot rock and let them cook, turning them often.
That was a super store. They also have small stores called pantry stores. Their store brand foods are cheaper and taste better than most national brands. We Texans are lucky to have unique places to shop. Bucees , HEB, Dairy Queen, What a Burger, Texas Roadhouse Chic Fil A. Etc. 11:45
About tortillas, the main difference is between tortillas served fresh off the grill and every other tortilla. Delicious.
Blue Bell is a Texas based ice cream company and its the best in the USA.
God bless that girl for recommending Blue Bell to them💐💐 I got o excited because I been waiting for somebody to discover it, lol! It's hands down THE BEST ice cream you can buy in a grocery store (maybe even anywhere) in America, not Haagen-Dazs or Ben & Jerry's. Blue Bell, period. I literally got a tub of that Butter Pecan in my Freezer right now, matter fact, let me go get myself a cone🤣🤣
-Blue Bell flowers are the Texas state flower and they bloom bloody everywhere in the spring
-those tortillas are delicious. buttery and corn flour goodness
-I'm surprised they stood out there eating and didn't get eaten alive themselves by mosquitos
-the pipe attached to the RV is to force the AC air further back into the RV

the HEB next to where I used to live in TX 15 years ago had an in-store sushi master making the sushi each day....
I live directly beside an HEB here in San Antonio. I’m there every day or other day to get their fresh tortillas. And yes, people are very friendly and will talk to you out of nowhere.
Love Jolly
The first time I went to Central Market, an HEB store, in Texas, the description I gave it was the Disneyland of grocery stores.
It's laid out like Ikea.
HEB is the greatest grocery store in the country. No contest.
The best tortilla is a plain fresh home made tortilla. IYKYK
I am a hard core Texan, BUT since you LOVE pistachios, HAVE I GOT A PLACE FOR YOU TO TRY! It is north of El Paso, Texas in Alamogordo, New Mexico. It has "the world's largest pistachio out front and about a million different flavors inside a large store! I think they ship world wide from their web site. Check it out!
I was there a couple of years ago and spent way too much money.
Pistachio Brittle is the bomb!
12:45 fresh cooked tortillas are incredible They don't need anything, I like her just a little bit of butter on there but they don't even have to have that. There's places here that we can buy raw tortillas that are all made and ready to just put in a pan and cook them, those are the ones I like because like these yeah you can buy them they're fresh baked right then still hot but by the time you get home they're just a tortilla but if you buy the raw ones and you cook it at home Oh so good!
I was waiting for them to try Shiner 😂
Former Texas resident now in Arizona: Hey Lewis, you should try a "Cheese Crisp": put your favorite tortilla in a cold dry skillet and set temp to MED-HI, quickly add 1/2 cup each of shredded cheddar and jack cheese, dash with salt and pepper. In about 4 minutes as the cheese starts to melt, remove before burning. Enjoy. Simple, fast and taste good. Note: if you add toppings like chicken, shredded beef, salsa and then another tortilla, flip and toast this would quesadilla. Got to enjoy the simple things in life.
Fresh tortillas are the staple of our Texan diet. My lab results proves this😩😩😩
Melt butter and brown sugar then pour over the pecans and spread on a pan and bake for 30 to 45 minutes. You will have a candied pecans
3 places you have to see in Texas - Buc-ee's, HEB, and Whataburger
This guy wants to come to Texas, from the UK, and your three recommendations for places he has to see are a gas station, a grocery store, and a fast food joint he could go to in his home country? 🤨
You'd have to pay me to go to Texas but even I could come up with better recommendations than that.
@@StoneE4hell, I’d pay you to stay out of Texas, you fucken nerd lol
@@StoneE4 Whataburger isn’t in the UK, but if it is then it’s not the original one.
@@StoneE4 There isn’t even a whataburger in most states, why would it be in the UK anyways?
@@StoneE4 Sounds like you just want to see monuments. When I travel to other countries I alway make sure I visit a grocery store to help me understand the people. Glad you won't come to Texas; we don't want you here anyway.
Bluebell is the absolute best ice cream ever!!! A Texas creation that is hands down the best!
Also. Blue Bell ice cream is SO GOOD. It’s made here in Tx. When the listeria outbreak happened my mom straight up went around trying to buy all the blue bell she could because she knew it would all get pulled. I’m like MOM WHATS WRONG WITH YOU?!?! She didn’t care. That’s how much she loves blue bell lmao
My mom too. I thought she was going to have withdrawals without her Blue Bell Cookie Dough ice cream and her Blue Bell fudgesicles.
Luckily she found Blue Bunny fudgesicles acceptable.
Georgia peach here, God Bless Ya'll in Texas for giving us Blue Bell🙏🏾 Best Ice Cream in America. It's literally PERFECT
butter pecan is my absolutely favorite
The thing I really like about HEB is that they tailor many products to Texan tastes, they make many products and flavors you just don't find at other grocery stores. Each HEB also may have different items depending on the neighborhood the individual store is in.
H.E.B. tortillas are the freaking best!
I just bought a 10 pack of the butter and a 10 pack of the plain flour to restock our supply for the week, lol.
H-E-B = Here Everything's Better (Actually Howard Edward Butt, but they even use that saying). HEB is great. And freshly made H-E-B tortillas is amazing. Like Ollie says about freshly baked bread.
Employees say it means, "Here Everybody's Busy."
Texas is the home of HEB, Bucee’s, and Blue Bell ice cream. HEB was started in San Antonio, Texas. Bucee’s was started in Lake Jackson, Texas and Blue Bell originated in Brenham, Texas.
17:25 It all boils down to culture.
Brit 1: I believe I've an idea for a new food.
Brit 2: Ah, you've gone mad, you have.
American 1: And that's my idea for a bacon cheeseburger-themed noodle bowl.
American 2: SOUNDS FUCKING RAD, BRO! You get the ramen and the bacon, I've got the rest!
Texan here: yes the butter tortillas are that good and absolutely can be eaten plain. I'm craving one now bc of this video I think I might make a quick trip to HEB brb
We have full on conversations in the aisles..and Blue Bell is the BEST!
My wife and I moved to San Antonio in 2005 for help our daughter with a baby coming. H-E-B was founded in 1905 by Florence Butt at her home in Kerrville, Tx. Then her youngest son, Howard Edward Butt, began running the store after returning from WWI. In 1927 he used his initials and named the store H-E-B. They use as much local meat, dairy, and produce as possible, ensuring maximum freshness and you can tell! They have 7 stores in Mexico and 420 in Texas. They are so successful that pretty much all other stores left most of Texas. The only other stores to buy food are Walmart, Target, Sam’s, and Costco. If you like chocolate ice cream, the ABSOLUTE BEST is MUD SLIDE! It’s is DELICIOUS chocolate ice cream with HUGE chunky slivers of CHOCOLATE!!! We have two 1/2 gallons in the freezer RIGHT NOW.
HEB is IT!!! I live north of Austin in Central Texas and HEB it AWESOME!!! Yes, the tortillas are wonderful. Blue Bell Ice Cream is simply the best. They did not get the best flavors. My go to tortilla chips are the ones you saw they make in their bakery. SO MUCH MORE!!! Been going to HEB my whole life. They also support independent Texas farmers and go lots of good things.
Did these Brits buy any TEXAS shaped chips or cheese chunks or anything? HEB has those things! I love them!😊
I don't know if anyone answered but H-E-B stores are only in Texas and Mexico. They have 'recently' branched out to North Texas. Fresh tortillas are amazing! I do not buy any other kind from the store and must be the ones from their bakery and not the bread/tortilla aisle. You will need come on down and pay us a visit!
H-E-B is the only grocery store in my area. There's Walmart and Target, but you do your grocery shopping at H-E-B!
I go to HEB multiple times a week and i sure do Love My HEB! The tortillas are really good. Sometimes ill heat them up on a comal and spread butter and a little bit of salt and then roll it up. Sooo good! My favorite sushi from HEB is the San Antonio roll.
When we moved to Texas we got introduced to HEB. They do have some good things for sure. The tortillas are elite level.
Blue Bell ice cream is hard to beat, man. Very, very good stuff. And I really like butter pecan.
20:33 - It's hot in Texas. Some RVs don't have AC in the back while driving. They stuck a tube to divert some of that wonderful cool air towards the back.
Bluebell has a pistachio flavor ice cream as well
Warm tortillas with butter and a sprinkle of sugar…excellent. I guess living in Texas, we only look at HEB as “regular-sized” grocery store.😊
I love butter pecan with sliced bananas
