    You 2 are producing top notch content. You are so right about the rain suit. Anyone that’s a disbeliever, just try a high end suit once, and you will be buying one. It’s the difference between miserable in the rain to it’s not an issue.

    Great content
    I realized early in my bass fishing journey that great rain gear can make a trip amazing. I learned that buy the Best you can afford and protect it. Reel bags and Rod sleeves help I still fish old Curado”s that are in mint condition. Lastly living in Florida
    Use Bullfrog sunblock by far theBEST. THANKS. TIGHT LINES and I will look forward to your next video.

    The gore-Tex rain gear is unbelievable how much more comfortable you are. Even if it isn’t raining but just colder weather it’s a game changer. Layering your clothing and then putting the rain gear over top. Also the way the gore-Tex blocks the wind.

    Mine was a boat. I realized the people I fished behind most of the time were learning from me but I think that has alot to do with how fishing is now. Been fishing since the early 80s and when I threw an H&H, firetail worm, and a brokeback minnow.

    Great video. One thing I’d add is don’t fall for the hype that you need every rod /reel bait setup out there. Start with basics that work in your area, and master them before adding techniques that may not even work around you.
    I’d also suggest not overspending on dozens of rod and reel combos, get versatile gear. I’ve seen guys who have dozens of high dollar setups and don’t even have a kayak or Jon boat and just bank fish or co-angle. Save money on fishing gear and find a way to get yourself off the bank.

    It's funny that I see this video today, because i couldn't get bit on anything today until I pulled out 1 of my spinning rods with a shaky head on it. I then preceded to catch a 5 pounder and several 3 pounders on it. So I definitely agree with you on the spinning rod.

    I Remember when kvd. Very first started I just knew he was going to be great at our sport and he was. I really feel that you are going to do extremely well, just don’t get caught in all of the B.S !!!!!! That goes with our sport, I have been catching bass for over 60 yrs. And I still love our sport. Really hope that the FFS don’t hurt the sport, because it is giving people access to the big females that never could catch before and kill sometimes I am certain. I would like to know how the results would have been in Texas WITH OUT THE FFS> I bet you there LOL LOL GUESS I MAYBE OLD SCHOOL < keep putting your heart and soul into your fishing you are going to do great I just know it.

    Can I offer a money saving tip? If you use braid, use the cheap zebco line from Walmart that comes in a massive spool, for backing. It costs like $4 for 700 yards. Back the reel and then add braid to finish it out. That spool will last for 1-2 years of fishing. Then change out a year or two later, and it costs a total of about $8-$12 per spool, depending on brand of braid, on the reel. That's insanely cheap for fishing. Fluorocarbon alone can run $25 per spool of 200 yds.

    I have to agree 10,000 %.. I held out on buying a very good wetsuit for a long time just because I did not want to spend that $500 to $1,000.. and I'm going to be honest with you, I don't know what I would have right now if I wasn't gifted it for Christmas almost 6 years ago now.. I can definitely tell you that can be a deal-breaker on the water... being cold windy and raining and not having the right gear will make your day miserable and make you want to cut your day short... So ever since I got that thing I have taken very good care of it and made sure that I've kept up with it and maintained it very well!! That was probably one of the main things out of all the stuff you talked about that is for sure something that you do not want to cut corners on. Especially if you are somebody that fishes from a boat. Nothing like running down the lake while it's raining and the wind is blowing and it's cold as balls and you don't have the right gear on 😳😞😢🥶🥶🥶🥶.. and I'm wearing this one until the wheels fall off 🤣🤣

    I agree about the sunglasses, but what if you wear prescription glasses? There's very few options that I know of for a quality pair of sunglasses that fit over normal prescription glasses. And getting prescription polarized glasses is really expensive. Right now I use Cocoons and they're ok, but is there a better option?

    • @MichaelCross
      @MichaelCross Рік тому

      Good point. I’ve been there done that; my RX doesn’t have an option for contacts so I have always needed some sort of rx sunglasses or alternative. I finally bit the bullet on a rx pair of sunglasses and will never go back. It is expensive but if you have eye coverage usually it will reduce and cover 1/4-1/2 of the cost. I think I paid out of pocket $300 for my pair. Not cheap but considering nice glasses already cost $150-200+ it’s not much more for an rx pair with eye coverage. LensCrafters carries Oakley’s and Costas now as a reference point.

    Kyle, I use to roll cheap with spinning setup myself. I didn’t like them so I didn’t put any money into them and when I would go to throw them they would always give me issues, then I started getting some nicer Lews reels and better rods like my 13 Fishing rods and WOW, what a difference that made. Now where do you want to start? Everyone at my university in the early 1990's (pre-internet, as the 'class representative' in third year in 1995 I was authorized by my class mates to go downstairs to talk to the head librarian about 'the internet'). When I went down and talked to the librarian, I had no idea even what 'the internet' was. The librarian said he'd played around with it (the 'world wide web' he called it then in 1995). And I think he imagined it was going to be like CD-ROM's. They had got micro-fiche, and CD-ROM's as well as an extensive VCR catalog. That you could ask for on special loan from behind the desk, where they kept those things safe. I think he imagined, that 'the internet' would be like something else you stored on the shelves (the special book stacks), that were behind the desk. It was like the inner sanctum, where the expensive book were kept. So I went back up and reported to the guy at the time, who listened to 'Massive Attack' records and was into alternative pop music. He'd read about 'the internet' in some Rolling Stone magazine or Wired. We got to talking about hobbies and things. What we spent our pocket money on. I produced some new 'Partridge' fishing hooks I'd bought. And he said to me, obviously horrified at spending the cost of music CD's on fishing hooks. He didn't feel too bad about his sinful hobby, of buying music and print magazines any longer (such as 'Wired' that told him 'the internet' was a thing).

      I know that if I showed him the Metz genetically bred rooster feather cape I paid around a hundred dollars for back then. Which by today's standards for those feathers, it would be the equivalent of 'bargain basement'. But back then, with import taxes and red-tape. Importing the feathers from America (that was going to enable me to catch every fish I came across with top-water flies). It was a big deal to become the proud owner of that rooster feather cape. In grizzle (barred black and white coloration). If I showed my friend, who asked me to investigate what 'the internet' was in 1995. What I really spent my pocket money (for a whole month on). Instead of the relatively economical packet of Partidge dry fly hooks. He'd have called the guys in the white coats to come and collect me. I had given away the price of a ticket to a Indie music band concert. To buy feathers with it, and hooks. I obviously should not be circulating amongst the sane people.
