GREED. Ive just been evicted by a landlord who is "selling up" because I pushed back when she tried to raise the rent 40% with immediate effect in an RPZ. Revolting mindset.

The conversation goes straight to the heart of Housing Crisis caused by disaster in Government Strategy and Policies that empowered Corporate Speculative Investment companies and developer through incentivized taxation breaks to develop build to rent for profiteering high-density, high rise soviet blocks in Urban spaces as a means of solving a perceived supply issue. The real issue is affordability and Sustainability. Rents and house prices are out of reach of the average working class person and family. The Government do not want you to own a home so that the interests of both venture capitalists and those that have implemented and continue to advocate the current strategy and policies for their own benefit. The housing interests of the public have not been served in both the Social Housing and Private rental / purchase to own has plummeted. The Financial crises in 2008 as a direct results of corporate fraud and corruption in Financial institutions and in planning and development at state and semi-state level have pushed the entire nation since the banking crises further the road into poverty. The financial strategy has been and continues to be deeply flawed. Do we forget NAMA and the property and lands owned by the state - Why are these being retained by the Government when the people of the state own and have being paying back the cost of the NAMA debacle. In whose greater interests do our Government really serve? It most certainly is not the electorate ? The real winners are the Government and their Investment companies. www.irishtimes.com/business/commercial-property/urbeo-pays-73m-for-211-dublin-rental-apartments-1.4661013

Really enjoyed this podcast. I found it very informative and educational. The wider issues that will succumb from people living long term in emergency accommodation will be huge. Rory made some excellent short and long term suggestions to improve the situation. I really hope the government listen!!! Also, I’d like to commend Rory on sharing his experience of childhood trauma on your podcast. Which is a direct reflection on how you two guys (Timmy & Janes) have created an empathic non judgemental space where people feel safe to do so. Well done all round, keep up the good work 😊
