I always picture it as: She starts going up the stairs, and her BF is obviously nervous. However Mom comes in from the kitchen with like tea or something. She calms it all down, and sits Tommy down to relax. Mom begins explaining THEIR whole story here. At this point the daughter has come back down and Mom sits her close by Tommy. I see a photo on the wall being of like the Mom and Dad's wedding day, and say that it's on the wall above Tommy and Katie. The parents are looking at the younglings and Mom/Camera points at the photo at, "...like I still look at you!" Then it would fade into Tommy and Katie's eventual wedding scene, like they're in the same pose but it comes to life. That's just the happy story that always plays in MY head when I hear this song. 🤷♀
You should react to Walk away Joe next, the music video features a young Matthew McConaughey. I'd also love to see you do Suds in the Bucket by Sara Evans.
Loved this song growing up. Another good one is I'm that kind of girl my Patti Loveless. Some of my 1st memories is singing this song to my mom when she she was recovering from cancer treatments.
Great reaction as always Billy! I am still commenting to see you react to dont come home a drinkin by Loretta Lynn. totally understanding that getting to all the requests takes time, I am not in rush! I hope the pandemic is treating you well!
Please react to good Directions by Billy Currington, Rodney atkins farmer's daughter,Josh Turner's Firecracker and long black train along with Randy travis's three wooden crosses
This was my favorite song growing up, probably one of the first I knew the words to. Reba was my first crush (cause Im weak for a redhead lol), but Trisha was a very close #2
Greatest country story (the boyfriend isn't just coming in a truck, but in a beat up chevy truck, and not just driving up, but honking, making noise, and splashing through the mud, he's excited for their date and want to let her know he's almost there! Details!!) and what a hook at the end! With the mom telling the dad off for looking down of the daughter's boyfriend, when the mother's own dad thought the same about her husband at one point! Like relax dear, they're just like we were, they're in love, as we were, and are!
This song came out when I was still a toddler and my family (and quite a lot of the rest of the town) named it "my song." Despite it being played at me constantly growing up (and at least one incident when I was forced to karaoke it in front of my entire 6th-grade class) I have made peace with it and come to love. The guy named Tommy that was in my class, not so much. (Also, the reason her dad doesn't like Tommy is because he WAS a teenage boy and he remembers what he and Katie's mom we're up to)
Grew up with a Drive-In about a half hour away. Had some of my favorite childhood memories there. My family would Caravan together and all the kids would lay on sleeping bags and blankets in the bed of my Dad’s pickup. It’s still running and I cannot wait to bring my son one day!
My mom and sister loved this song. I'm not a country fan anymore but I'll always have a soft spot for some of those old 90s country songs. After my mom died, all those old songs make me think of my mom. She took me to my very first concert when I was 12 which happened to be Reba McEntire, who was her favorite singer.
There were some drive in's opening up during the covid-19 lockdown Last one I was in was Cottonwood,AZ watched a double feature " The evil that men do with Charles Bronson" and " The Breakfast Club"
The closest drive-in theater to me closed when I was about 10. The next closest one was about an hour away. And it closed just a few short years later.
We still have a drive-in theatre here in Greenwood ,SC... It was close down for years. Now the new owners upgraded it to HD ..and added 2 more screens for a total of 3.. each one plays 2 movies a night, on the weekends.. I think they are staying open through the quarantine.
When I was little, my mom used to say this was my song because of the boy that kissed me when I was seven. Even years later, I think about that whenever I hear this song. This will always be a favorite of mine.😊💗
Yes, there was a drive in movie theatre in a nearby town where I grew up. My family and I went a couple times. So this is not my favorite song, but I like it. I thought it was adorable how you playfully dance to it!
There is a drive in near me! Me and my friends went all the time especially in the summer! This year artists like newsboys and Tobymac are performing on a drive in tour this summer!
In my area there were many drive in movie theaters around when I was younger. Two of them were very close to my house then and now. Now one of those and most others in the state have closed for good! Although hubby found one three hours or shorter drive and a ferry ride away. So, there are a few still scattered around the state.
I’m old, 42 and I remember going to the drive in with my parents and two siblings, we would wear our p.j’s. They would play a family movie first and then a more adult movie. Is kiddos would fall asleep in the back seat, it was such an amazing time!!
Thank goodness yes. When COVID hit, everyone rediscovered the Sacramento Drive Inn. One of only 18 left in the whole state of California. Most people didn't know it still existed until the radio and news stations did a story on it. Mostly older releases because not much new was release to public viewing during COVID but it was a way to get out and feel normal for a few hours.
We haven’t had a drive in movie for a long time; however, we have 2 different ones opening here in Shreveport/Bossier soon as a result of What has happened in recent months.
Hey Billy we still have 3 or 4 drive in's operating in Michigan , always a good time , I grew up going to them. Made sure my kids had that experience as well
As I am old I used to go to the drive in. They were already gone by the time we had our kids (too bad since you could just put them in jammies and have dinner while watching a double feature like I used to do when babysitting). When she was on tour with Garth I kept telling my DH that they were a couple, but he just said I was always so suspicious. When they divorced their spouses and got married he came home with a gorgeous pair of earrings. I love being right!
I live in one of the few states that have had an active up and running drive in movie theater. Me and mine watched a lot of movies we don't remember there 😆
I live in Burlington, VT and we have a drive-in in Colchester (next town over)!! I just went lol! It's easy to social distance when in you're car (they are doing 50% capacity, 7 days a week).
When I was growing up, we lived across the street from the Glenwood Drive In. We went there all the time. When I was dating my (now husband), we went to the Starlight Drive In. The last movie to be shown at Glenwood was ET. I made my husband take me there to see it and to say goodbye to something that had been such a big part of my childhood. The Starlight is still in business.
There's a drive- in theater about 40 mins from me we took our kids for the first time a couple weeks ago. They loved it. This song has always been a fav of mine. I was 17 when I started dating my husband and my dad wasn't really thrilled about it. We've been together since '96.
the movie theater in my local mall bought inflatable screens and projectors to turn the parking lot into a drive in over covid because no one was allowed in the building except staff
I’ve been to a drive in with my parents a few times but never with a special someone. My curfew was too early for that. But we still have 1 or 2 around me that are still operational
We have a few drive-in's, and they actually were able to open before a lot of other stuff they just told you to watch from your car and the kids couldn't be running around, etc. But Garth Brooks is doing a country wide tour at drive in's because the concert arenas aren't going to be open for a while. Genius idea!
Actually there are still Drive-In Theaters in Central Pennsylvania. Some Drive-Ins are actually open now because a patron can stay quarantined in their cars.
I always loved the end of the song when the mom steps in and says her dad said the same thing about him and how he was wrong and so is the dad ..
Right? Typical parents. But they always mean well. Its just hard to watch your baby grow up and have to let go.
On the Garth & Trisha live request show Garth asked Trisha to sing this part of the song ❤
I love Trisha’s phrasing when she sings “Katie looks at Tommy like I still look at you!”
I always picture it as:
She starts going up the stairs, and her BF is obviously nervous. However Mom comes in from the kitchen with like tea or something. She calms it all down, and sits Tommy down to relax. Mom begins explaining THEIR whole story here. At this point the daughter has come back down and Mom sits her close by Tommy. That's just the happy story that always plays in MY head when I hear this song. 🤷♀
This was Trisha Yearwood first single and video. You should try "Walkaway Joe" duet with Don Henley of the Eagles.
Carrie Underwood & Kelsea Ballerini did a wonderful cover of Walkaway Joe.
@@Lucas-xl2ds Yes I know I saw that too. I love both of them too.
I was randomly singing this the other day. No idea why. 🤷🏻♀️
@@BuzzDoesDisney Trisha can do that to you.
Yeah, with Matthew McConaughey in the video!
You should react to Walk away Joe next, the music video features a young Matthew McConaughey. I'd also love to see you do Suds in the Bucket by Sara Evans.
I love Suds in the Bucket
Love both songs!
Loved this song growing up. Another good one is I'm that kind of girl my Patti Loveless. Some of my 1st memories is singing this song to my mom when she she was recovering from cancer treatments.
Dad remembers what he was trying to do - that's why he's mad
Great reaction as always Billy! I am still commenting to see you react to dont come home a drinkin by Loretta Lynn. totally understanding that getting to all the requests takes time, I am not in rush! I hope the pandemic is treating you well!
Yes, he definitely needs to do that one.
Katie looks at Tommy like I still look at you - I absolutely love that line.
Try "The Woman Before Me" "Walk Away Joe" by Trisha Yearwood or "The Highway Don't Care " by Tim McGraw and Taylor Swift if you haven't already.
And Keith Urban plays a pretty snazzy guitar on “Highway Don’t Care”, too...
Please react to good Directions by Billy Currington, Rodney atkins farmer's daughter,Josh Turner's Firecracker and long black train along with Randy travis's three wooden crosses
Goodness all of these are great suggestions.
Especially too Randy Travis's Three Wooden Crosses.
Ive been requesting Three Wooden Crosses for like 2 years now
This has always been one of my favorite country love songs. It just gave me the biggest smile hearing it again. Thanks for reacting to this Billy!!
I met my husband when I was 17 and my dad didn't like him and said we wouldn't make it but here we are 11 years later still together.
This was my favorite song growing up, probably one of the first I knew the words to. Reba was my first crush (cause Im weak for a redhead lol), but Trisha was a very close #2
Reba is by far my favorite redhead!!
I always love how Mom comes in and basically puts him on blast in front of the daughter's Boyfriend.
Straight clowned him
Dad Law: No man is good enough for his Princess.
As momma of a beautiful 8 year old girl....this is so true!
Greatest country story (the boyfriend isn't just coming in a truck, but in a beat up chevy truck, and not just driving up, but honking, making noise, and splashing through the mud, he's excited for their date and want to let her know he's almost there! There’s still a drive-in in N. Georgia not too far outside of Chattanooga, TN that I’ve been to several times.
Please listen to Jacob's ladder by Mark Wills!!! Similar story but so good ❤
Walk away joe by Trisha is great! Love this video thank you for keeping us entertained during this quarantine!! 😊
This song came out when I was still a toddler and my family (and quite a lot of the rest of the town) named it "my song." I grew up in San Diego actually Chula Vista! Born 1952😳 and we went to many of the local drive ins! Great song. Thanks
This GREAT Song / Video of Unconditional LOVE ; always has been a top 5 favorite of mine since it came out. :)
Grew up with a Drive-In about a half hour away. Had some of my favorite childhood memories there. My family would Caravan together and all the kids would lay on sleeping bags and blankets in the bed of my Dad’s pickup. It’s still running and I cannot wait to bring my son one day!
Yes, in wisconsin we had drive in movies. We now live in Georgia have yet to find one.
There is one in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It was actually in the movie the Outsiders.
There were some drive in's opening up during the covid-19 lockdown Last one I was in was Cottonwood,AZ watched a double feature " The evil that men do with Charles Bronson" and " The Breakfast Club"

I liked it. Clean, simple, easy to follow with a good message and a catchy hook.

Yes, there was a drive in movie theatre in a nearby town where I grew up. My family and I went a couple times. So this is not my favorite song, but I like it. I thought it was adorable how you playfully dance to it!
