TL;DW: SnS is really comfy with Embolden 3 + Guard 5
Notable Differences
All moves that deal chip damage take significantly more stamina to block without Guard 5
Paw sweeps will chip and knockback without Guard 5
Any Hellfire Enhanced attack will chip or knockback more without Guard 5
Bite moves chip more
Hellfire Tail Attacks and Tail Lunges chip significantly more
The Basic Slash and Slam remain unchanged without Guard 5

Honestly this is cool for creating various different builds with a single weapon, but the only worthwhile "guard" is offensive guard. It's so mobile, so you won't really be guarding at all

Yeah you're way better off dodging and shield bashing as a gap closer for the big moves. The paw and tail slams are still really good to guard/guard slash though.
It's impressive how well it actually just blocks. Like if you have to or if you're not confident in dodging, blocking isn't a bad option.

@@Dastardly_Duo It is in Rise after I dropped LS for being too easy. I mained Gunlance in the other games.

@@snunpai lol that's funny. I'm actually trying GL rn. It's really difficult to get used to honestly

@@Dastardly_Duo Running Evade Extender and learning Guard Edge are paramount in GL to me. EE helps with positioning and dodges moves you can't GE. GE is just bread and butter for consistent damage. Blast Dash if you need to gap close.
It's definitely the best iteration of GL in terms of play style but it doesn't do enough damage IMO. SnS does the same thing in half the time with double the mobility.

Violet Mizu Chest/Belt/Gloves
Gold Rathian or Flaming Espinas Pants
Slot in for Evade Extender
Tenderizer/Crit Boost 3
Guard 5
At least 1 point of Guard Up (Mine is 3 through Affliction Upgrades)
Agitator 5
Attack Boost 4+
Offensive Guard if possible
