Another nice job Cb, cb2 off today
Gave em a summer day fun day.....
"No hot water at cold side, that's the problem" - what do you mean? You first measured it to be 120F why you want to turn mix valve? To turn the valve you should push it down then turn, why you remove the screw?
Lesson learned Joe.
On that model, it doesn't work that way. On that model, you loosen the screw but don't take it off, "lift" the wheel a bit and turn left or right to adjust temperature. I could push and turn all day, and it would make no difference. Here are directions for 3 different Honeywell models/types: homesteady.com/how-12207330-adjust-honeywell-thermostatic-mixing-valve.html But thanks for the excuse to finally look it up. Now I guess I'll figure out whether the directions truly mean "lift" or "tug" back a hair. Except my water is perfect for everyone...a bit hot for me personally but I can control pressure and temperature easily at my shower.
Newb question... does anything need to be turned off (individual hot/cold valves, main water line, etc) before adjusting this Thermostatic Mixing Valve?
I have this exact one. Take off the cover and I can’t turn it. Any suggestions ?
real brain teaser to adjust temp control....look it up on line and you may be able to get paper work on it. what model?
the element inside is corroded. your water is hard. need to get new internal guts.
@@dustinfehr3466 there are quite a few steps before chucking it in the scrap pile. I can only see videos which are doing incorrect troubleshooting as per the manual. The maximum temp on many of these (Appolo, CASH, etc) has a factory adjusted maximum temperature. You can field adjust it for the customer. 100$ in someone else's pocket or yours.
Pull out to make adjustments then tighten screw
I learned the hard way harry....thanks my man
The one I have, am1 is seized. Thing doesn't budge. And too much cold water is mixing in. Hopefully I can just clean it out and it will work like it used to. Hopefully.
@@MaynardOwns Curious... Did cleaning it work for you? Mine has crazy hard water buildup and the directions say that cleaning it "should" restore functionality.
@@Wyldfyre.84 it didn't, when I took it apart to clean it everything was in pieces. I had to get the repair kit. The valve is still seized, I can't adjust it at all but my hot water works now. I did buy a while new unit as well just in case
Mine doesn't turn, take the handle off, handle on, slightly on, nothing turns the adjuster, maybe it gets jammed up on the inside
Thermostatic valves are a pain in the ass, I've seen them foul up quite often. Also, we (I'm sure you as well) always get the 1 customer who likes to scald themselves in the shower.
for sure.
That’s me!
If I'm not scald, I don't feel clean! LOL
@@ginafarrington1403 well my wify just said its too cold, so back to the adjustment!
Oh my God the job from hell again. Peace brother
😫 for sure
The problem with those valves is they seem to drop the outlet temperature by 20-70 degrees F. Why bother with that, if you can adjust the thermostat on your water heater to a lower temp, say 120? My unit was set so the warmest temp I could get was 105, good for hot tubs but pretty useless for doing dishes. In fact, my dishwasher requires a minimum inlet temp of 120, which explains why it's not good at cleaning dishes.
i hear ya. This is all what I had to do to make this job a go. Insane
because of legionnaires disease, you want to keep the tank at 140 f in order to kill the legionnaires disease, the 120 f at the tank is not enough to kill legionnaires disease, so the tempering valve or TMV will allow the tank to be at a hotter temp than the water at the point of use. this is what i have been told in the past do your own research. if you have a tankless then it will be different.
@@he-got-a-new-mommy thanks, someone still has some sense. Also you are reducing your capacity of hot water and if you call for heat is more than the rating of the tank, you'll get your wify to ask why she has to take a cold shower and not you. Just saying. Enjoy.
@@he-got-a-new-mommy True, but it's more than that. By mixing via this valve cold with hot, you reduce the temperature of the water heading to the faucets/shower heads and increase the amount of hot water available, just not at 140 degrees. The idea that you could then use a 50 gallon tank vs 80 gallon if one needs that capacity...and I do but no room for 80 gallon this 6 bedroom 5 1/2 bath house with 2 laundries and 2 kitchens.
maybe the shower valve limiters were adjusted too low for the blazing hot water before.
this job....shoot me....its been all good now..
You have to be a nasa engineer to figure that thing out lol
I know its a problem. lol
reading the "destructions" helps =p
Huh? Why is he taking the knob off? Don't you adjust the temp by just turning the knob? Having the knob removed wouldn't do a thing, would it? Just turn the flippin thing, right? But, that's the question. Do you turn it right or left?
yes, a real trickster of a valve for the pro to adjust the adjustment. This is tru.
Maybe next time don't block the camera with your hands. You can't see how you're adjusting the valve.
lol! roger
I don't know why you keep taking off the knob to adjust it. It says right on the knob plate on the right side above the red part of the direction adjustment arrow to "Push In To Turn". Very basic. But thanks for at least supplying a video.
Junk id never use one.
