Interesting analysis! Basic but then doing basic stuff correctly is something most teams this year fail to do well. The Swans do the basics brilliantly & they don't let up throughout.
Great analysis, but that video title does come off as hyperbolic clickbait and i see I'm not the only one feeling this way. As someone new here it feels a little cheap undermining the good work you've done. "AFL teams are in trouble" might have worked better. Don't mean to be so critical, I know making these things are harder than then end product pertains. Analysis is sound.
Cheers mate - The title would have been too long if I wrote "The AFL is in Trouble Because Sydney Look Unbeatable" which is essentially the message I was trying to get across. It's more for a punchy title's sake but yeah I get the discourse
The game is infinitely complicated , thats why you'll hear things like "its a simple game" because structures and set plays are 1% of the game. its full on kaos with ball in hand, and in dispute. Thats why players get very little instintive learnings from coaches reviewing the game with them. It might make the coaches feel better, even the player at the time but it doesn't help during games. I love your channel. its all good work.
Yep I agree with this. You can see Sydney playing with lots of confidence and their tails up. This makes the game very easy for them as they are getting the reward for effort. I'm also on the it's a simple game however as a lot of it is about execution. Simple things like Harry missing from 15 m out does a whole lot for the team psych and makes simple things that little bit harder.
Definitely, that’s why teams advance in the finals series. It’s more contested, it’s about how you cope and react to the pressure and the decisions you make can be the difference
@@dportaz excellent point, that one miss had a much bigger influence on the game than most people might think. Team psych, confidence and winning spirit are a big part of it.
Swans look unbeatable! One thing worth mentioning is throughout a year 3-4 teams got through a phase where they look clearly the best. Due to the even competition. Teams haven’t been able to maintain this since the Hawthorn, Geelong days. I have no doubt in a month or so there will be a new super team that looks unbeatable.
Well identified. So many things done incorrectly or just not done at all, but you can bet a win this week will have everyone insisting two rucks is the problem. Although it looked like more late tackle efforts, whiffs, and poor technique than all broken tackles. Out of position and a step late. Looks like that was Blues offense as well as defense.
Incredible analysis. Carlton missed too many players, and played like shitting themselves. But Sydney looks just too good. You (as in any other team) got to be on you very best and need a bit of luck to beat this Bloods team when they’re in good form.
Really good analysis. Sydney was very good, however not at the beginning. Why was that? It seems to me that it was some forced but mostly unforced errors and undisciplined play by Carlton (lazy play?) that was the main problem. I believe that Carlton can beat anyone when playing well. It almost feels like back to basics. And do something else entering the forward 50 then blast away hoping for Charlie or Harry.
Disapointing to see Walsh play really dumb football tbh -= that and as you pointed out- so many examples of basic execution error ...yep they ended up playing scared- so scared Harry couldn't kick a goal from 15 meters out dead in front - when that happens you now it is game over.
I don't think Carlton did enough to try counter Jordon's tag and make it a little easier for Walshy to get freed up - Jordon was unrelenting. Harry just had one of those nights
"The AFL is in trouble" is an oversimplified way of saying "every afl team is in for a tough day when they play the swans" - Sydney's midfield has the perfect mix of players: runners like Gulden, explosive, damaging gamebreaking goalkicking mids like Heeney/Warner, grunt type mids like Rowbottom/Adams, taggers like Jordon & they also have Grundy whose a ruckman that is pretty mobile & is good with follow up work - as an opposition, good luck trying to deal with all those players that both dominate & stop your best players, and they've still got Mills & Parker to come back (after his 6 week holiday of course). Thus, the title
So I've followed the Swans since South Melbourne days. This is the slickest team I've ever seen. That includes 05 and 2012. Those teams were dogged and tough, today's team is a clinical and silky machine. I happen to know firsthand that they spend a lot of time practising deadly laser-like kicking. If you watch Sydney you can count on one hand the times they miss-kick the ball to a team mate. 🦢
That sequence in the 3rd quarter for the Wicks goal was one of the most clinical passages out of the middle I've seen a team execute against us for a long while - the AFL is in trouble because no one comes close to the Swans at the moment
@@Sab.batical In my opinion, self belief is a powerful force. The Swans now have that in spades. They know that they can pull off plays like you mentioned and I'm sure they will continue to do so.
What did you miss? Well, I'm still struggling to know why "the AFL is in trouble"? Is it simply because a team from NSW is dominating? That would be more 'the VFL is in trouble'.....but a lot of impartial footy observers see the 'AFL' as that anyway, still a Victorian league...so from that angle, you might have a point.😂
Haha yep literally the reason for the AFL being in trouble is because that NSW based team is crushing it right now and they are clear of the rest of the comp, right now in their own league. At least that's what I was trying to imply, I get some aren't understanding what I meant with the title
How about giving any argument whatsoever as to why the "AFL IS IN TROUBLE"? All I see in this video is an obviously subjective look at Carlton getting a taste of reality from a (currently) better team in top form. The click bait worked this time, hope it was worth it.
That title is an oversimplified way of saying: Every team is in trouble when they play Sydney The Swans are far and clear the best team in the league with no team really coming close (which is an issue) You have no chance matching Heeney and Warners output when you’ve got Rowbottom and Jordon being an absolute pain in the arse to deal with as well - which is trouble for every team trying to beat them given the game is won in the midfield Carlton did get a taste of reality against the Swans but the point is the Swans have given practically every other team the same treatment no matter where they are on the ladder Hope that helped clarify
Superb analysis!
Thanks bud
beautiful analysis and breakdown mate
Not seen any analysis this good on UA-cam. Keep up the good work ❤️🤍
Appreciate it Angus
Mate you are a star. Beautiful analysis. You should be an analyst for Carlton no joke. Amazing insight as always. Love your vids! 💙
Flattered with the compliment mate thanks for tuning in

Hit the nail on the head
Always love your breakdowns and another home run with this one.
Thanks mate love to hear
Love your analysis mate. Spot on.
As a swans fan i subscribed liked your breakdown.

Great analysis mate.
Mate really enjoyed the breakdown. Their a tough side with good players like Mills, Parker an McCartin still to come back in to the side.
Playing the way they are they won’t lose for a while - that said probably jinxed it and they’ll lose against the Doggies 😂
THEY'RE (not their) dude 🤦.

Definitely agree with the parity in the competition this year - i think we won't have a clue about the top 8 until the final week
Your Rowbottom to Campbell correction was incorrect. It's Cunningham!
You should try to get a job at the Carlton coaching team, seriously.
I'll stick to the less stressful job thanks haha

Plenty of problems in this game, certainly not limited to the two rucks

Sydney look borderline unbeatable at the moment - very well rounded outfit
Clickbait much
Read the other replies I made pertaining to this - that'll explain it

That was fantastic . Voss should watch this video .
I'm sure Vossy knows what's up, but the coaching staff would definitely find it tough to have answers for a midfield as on point as Sydney were
I don’t understand why Sydney playing well is equivalent to “the AFL is in trouble”…….or is it just click bait?
