Thank You Core Design for giving us Lara Croft and Tomb Raider 💙Tomb Raider 4 was a special game for me because I have loved Egypt since I was a child. You gave me such an injection of inspiration with this game!
Man i wish they had made that trip to Egypt. I can't help but wonder how much more inspiration they would have brought with them and how that would transfer into the game. Also as much as Andy doesn't want to admit it he does sound a bit bitter about the remasters and very rightfully so IMO. In a perfect world Crystal Dynamics and Aspyr should have contacted every original Core Design member as consultants (or at least the key members) and work together to not only make the remasters as faithful and respectful to the source material but also implement (together with Core) new aspects and fresh ideas that would elevate the games even more. Don't get me wrong i love what Aspyr (and Saber Interactive) did with the first 3 games but i think they could have done so much more with the involvement of Core Design's members. But we all know how Crystal Dynamics feels about Core Design (as it was once again proved with their insulting declaration message when you first boot the remasters) so they would have never agreed for Core's involvement. Once again thanks for the video Ash!
@@SSJG4SS So they're not Tomb Raider games just because they were not made by the original devs? By that reasoning most game franchises don't exist anymore because many of them made by different teams or companies.
@@SSJG4SS Of course they are Tomb Raider games what are you talking about and Underworld is the best Tomb Raider game ever made and Anniversary is far better than TR1 in every single way just because you don't like Crystal Dynamics don't disrespect their contributions to the franchise like it or not they have developed the Tomb Raider games since 2006 the reboot games except for Shadow of the Tomb Raider are awful.
I'm from Grenada in Caribbean and I would have loved to see a Tomb Raider game set in the region. We are so rich in culture, history and mythology that I've always felt like there was a missed opportunity in the games for not going there.
I can understand the Core team feeling that they would like to have some recognition for the work they put into the original games, especially when a lot of their time spent on the TR games was crunch time all the time. They worked so hard and suffered all sorts of relationship issues etc and they weren't really treated all that well (having a camera in his face while having a private conversation with his family about having to miss more time with them). That's just plain rude and inhumane. I despise the attitude Crystal seems to bring to the table any time Core or the original TR games are mentioned. It's like spitting in the original teams face and treating them like they were nothing. If it wasn't for Core and Toby Gards original vision, Crystal would have been buried long ago. It's because of the success of the original Core Design games that Crystal Dynamics still has a friggin job. They should be so much more respectful of the original history of the development of the games and the original story and Lara Bio. I can't help feeling like it's Americans pissing on the British.
You can clearly see they worked around it to obtain or to be greenlitted to handle future tomb raider games this is why you see them respecting the lore during Legend , underworld and anniversary , but once they had the IP fully in their clutches , they inserted their shitty politics in the reboots
Thanks for the video Ash !I love that you are always there to record stuff, because I always miss all the talks. Anyway, I am surprised that the developers werent contacted from the remasters team :( Thats just sad, and a bit unfair. Was that the case with tr123 remasters? I thought they called them for some opinions ?
I can only hope those Core design guys share their scrapped plans for the cut tomb raider 4 Carribean content with the people that are doing the remasters .
Thank you Core Design for making the game that changed my life, I love Tomb Raider and classic Lara Croft, it's a shame to see the franchise in the wrong hands today, and the path they are taking for the franchise, unfortunately this WOKE movement shit is destroying everything that was once good, it's a shame, thanks to the Remaster that is saving the good stuff.
Да, для меня тоже, но для многих это 2-ая часть...для меня она на втором месте, на первом Последнее Откровение...Египетская тематика была раскрыта в своём полном потенциале в 4-ке...
@@AdamDawson3 It should have been given to a more competent company who respected Core Design’s vision and the Tomb Raider fans. You’re delusional if you think Crystal did either. They insulted Core Design the first chance they got, and they openly mocked how the previous games were made. Watch the behind the scenes of Tomb Raider Anniversary, they took a lot of jabs at Core, saying all the games were mediocre and same old. If you defend all that then you’re no Tomb Raider fan in my mind. Also, watch the intro scene of TR Legend. They attack Angel of Darkness
@@SSJG4SS Wait I'm confused, how does TR Legends intro attack AoD despite not even mentioning it? I had to rewatch it and all I saw was Lara and her mother's plane crashing than cutting to Lara in Bolivia years later.
Not sure there were any "never-before-heard stories" in this one. I remember all these tales from Ash's streams. Worth watching those if you haven't already as the devs have more time to answer and Ash has a better rapport. Shame to hear the Core devs didn't even get a free copy of the remasters. Wouldn't break Crystal and Aspyr's bank account to send them each a digital code now would it.
The remakes are so good it really makes me wonder how they can bring themselves to such a low point that they would add things like new control schemes that completely go against the whole universe of the game. There is no other way to play tomb raider, it’s tank controls or nothing. Imagine remaking assassins creed and adding the dpad! It’s ludicrous and doesn’t fit the games design. And how could they add a hint feature, that’s so low it’s not even funny. Specifically catering for such a low class of a person is laughable. The person using hints is not worthy enough to play and enjoy and grasp and understand what tomb raider is, they don’t desver it, so why try and bring them into the conversation, I don’t get it. These people will never have the affection for tomb raider or chess or a cryptic crossword like us original fans do. They are not who the buisiness should be aiming at, they haven’t been supporting tomb raider like us for nearly 3 decades. Atrocious decision making.
Yes, you are right and that's what i've been using in the most recent remasters myself! That's how it's supposed to be played, besides "modern controls" how they call it that were specifically invented for the remasters were so broken on the release, that many of those who dislike classic controls had to stick with it instead! That should tell you a thing or two about world design of the classics, modern controls don't work, because they don't fit into the world building and geometry of classic three games, that's why! (and the same is actual for the next three TR games as well!). I hope that the remasters of TR 4-6, that are currently announced will stick to classic controls and not succumb to this modern control nonsense...
I personally like the modern controls better. I did beat the first 2 Tomb Raider games on iOS at the time and playing it on an iPad with tank controls I’d imagine is much harder than using standard controllers. And these things you’re whining about are optional anyways, so there’s no issue here
@@Megatron-xs2qe I’m no personally offended. I’m just old enough to know a few truth, like never ever playing fifa ultimate team because of rigged packing system and scripted gameplay. You sound like you wouldn’t even notice or feel a cpu rubber banding against you.
the ending of part 4 is fundamentally wrong. Seth destroyed Horus so easily and made his return impossible. and Lara just locked him underground. I really wanted the ending to change in the remake, but alas.
@@ordosdune9717 Remake, what remake? As far as I know there is no remake of any Tomb Raider game except for TR Anniversary, which was a poor excuse of a remake. The upcoming 4-6 games are just remasters

Legends! Crazy to think there hasn't been a new Tomb Raider game since 2003, hopefully the series will return at some point.
We got Legend in 2006, Anniversary a remake of TR1 in 2007 and Underworld in 2008 seriously do research
