OH, you left out the rule that if a failed block would give the opponent the win, the square was left unoccupied and the opponent had to earn it themselves. Exception was the Match Game-Holywood Squares Hour.
Aaaaaaaa, wasn't aware that Penn started the "You Fool" thingy until now! Had always viewed the montage with footage of just attempts at getting Gilbert Gottfried's square, but the lil bit of context before showing the rest was appreciated!
My favourite is the Cubs one, because you get to see both Gilbert and Penn say it together. I could be wrong, but it looks like Tom might have said it at the moment, too.
Perfect clip to use in The Price is Right Losing Horn Moments for when contestants in all sorts of game shows, give either incorrect or stupid answers.
Are the celebrities given the answer and told to lie or tell the truth, or are they just guessing and Gilbert is messing with the contestants, making things up and going you fool when they believed him?
Yes, the celebs are sometimes coached on how to answer, but it’s still up to the contestant to decide whether to agree or disagree with said answer. So it doesn’t fall under “rigging” in that regard. The Hollywood Squares portion of the Match Game-Hollywood Squares Hour was an exception as they didn’t coach their celebrities, which you can kind of tell in the final product…
Wasn't really going for a deep "explanation" beyond taking a simple look back at a hilarious game show episode in honor of April Fools Day, but thanks for watching regardless!

Figured something might skip through the cracks as I threw this together pretty quickly…lol. Thanks!
I was wondering what circumstances would lead to them picking the same guy over and over.
This was truly Gilbert Gottfried's greatest moment. May he rest in peace. I still say this on a constant basis.
Lol My Man Dylan I Agree He Was A Great Man That Voiced My Childhood Since 2002

Far & away the best & funniest episode of any version of _Hollywood Squares_ ever! 😆

Yep, that is why host Jon Bauman said his Hollywood Squares was the only “honest” one.
None of your overly verbose explanation explained anything.
