Completely understandable to feel that way, an they most likely ARE meta gaming. You Aint the only one who feels that way brother. Not a hot take. Was a GOOD take 😂
This is something Whippy has said for a long time. I remember him giving this take a year ago. About how he bans other RPers from his meta chat in his Discord and how he lets his mods deal with that meta chat. I've also checked it and its very well moderated. I never understood it being allowed by NP. You can see certain RPers in metachats and suddenly be geniuses in RP and having amazing hunches.
The only acceptable meta that I've seen everyone do is remembering names they should know or information they should know ic. And its acceptable because your basically having to remember shit for your irl life and your character, you tend to forget because it isn't as important as your actual shit going on in your life
Thank you for speaking up Whippy. It seems like a lot of the community is a where of the Meta gaming but do not want to bring it up. I think streamers are afraid of the backlash for calling out the bad faith RPers. People are sitting back and letting the meta gamers ruin the community. Keep up the good work Whippy and I have been enjoying the streams on Prodigy.
@ you didn’t understood my comment.. I said that people watch clips or read meta chats, and when others give them TLDR they are not even able to react properly couse they already know stuff that they are being told..
Meta is banable, but admins are not proactive about banning, so people have been getting away with it. Late 2.0 to early 3.0 admins Hands down best admins
Imo meta chats are unneeded, they create parasocial relationships and super fans sure its a easy way to keep your community active and hooked but the downfall is these fans become a cult they spend far to long in meta chats jumping from stream to stream they spam streamers emote and spoil surprises, cross over and rp in general, I could Ted talk but you get me
Honestly my favorite thing is when streamers in meta chats and go I am leaving now I dont wanna know to much like they aint been reading the meta the whole time 😭
I joined PD on a server and purposely waited to make a crim, and didnt watch crim streams. so the natural learning of people's names and stuff and discovering how crim did shit was all natural and it was the best thing I've ever done.
@noroken6500 you realize that alot of them have discords and sometimes ppl talk about meta in them. The streamers then see those messages. It happens with alot of the bigger streamers and then friends of them. If you know fanfans discord there is alot of besties ppl in there and fans talk about stuff all day. But besties don't use that meta at all and it doesn't effect there decisions either. So as lomg as they don't use it or it doesmt effect them it's not a big deal. That's the main one that I know of but I know there is ALOTTTTTT more
Most of the Hydra ppl are in Silent's chat everyday besides discussing everything in meta chat. Silent even asked meta chat to give him tdlr on what he missed since he chatted last time😂😂 Some Hades and Besties streamers also discuss in meta chats all the time 😂
@thor9323 there really ismt. If you type in a meta discord then sure but if you read something in that discord it's the same thing as if you were looking at it in someone's twitch chat. Your reading it in both places amd both have meta.
@@philipspigelmeyer959 Yes, which is why Whippy said that he has those channels muted, so that he doesn't see anything said there or even accidentally clicks on them (in this exact video). I think there's a difference in trying to avoid any meta while still letting your audience have a designated place to talk about it, moving it away from Twitch chat
@@philipspigelmeyer959 engaging with your community by talking and reading chat then suddenly out of nowhere someone drops in with meta isn't the same as participating in meta chat where meta is all people talk about. One is unavoidable, the other you have to go out of your own way to participate in that
@thor9323 yes whippy has them muted but not everyone does and that doesmt mean they use meta or should be banned. Most ppl shouldn't be banned since they aren't using it. Now if you let it effect your choices then sure. But if not then prolly not.
So there is a differnce between chat telling him meta and other ppl reading meta in a discord?😂 that makes no sense. The only difference is 1 might be more willing and 1 is more "forced". Other than that they are the same thing. I feel like as long as you dont use meta and it doesnt make a different decision because you know it then it doesnt matter if you know it. I know streamers that watch other ppls streams and know meta and they are some of the best rpers
He not only explained the difference but you straight up gave his reasoning yet are saying it makes no sense LMAO. A streamer's job is to entertain and thus they are going to engage with their chat to entertain. At some point, someone is going to say meta in that Twitch chat either intentionally or unintentionally. But in that instance, the streamer is not looking for meta, they just happened to be told by chat. With Whippy he will purposefully avoid something if a chatter gave meta. For example, if someone in chat tells him that a certain character is at this location, he will avoid going to that location even if he would have eventually checked it out. Compare it to a streamer going to their meta chat and reading/talking. They KNOW there is meta being discussed there and attempt to claim that somehow, despite intentionally going to that chat and knowing the meta, it never affects their in-game judgment. It is the equivalent of giving students access to the answers to an exam but trusting they will actually study and not just memorize the answers. There is no need for streamers to view meta chats other than to read the meta
Yes there is. Chat on twitch is limited to like 200 characters. So usually there might be a flash in the pan meta by a few people which mods usually timeout and delete right away. and if the streamer happens to notice most of them just ignore it and IC act as if they never saw it. Whereas, full on meta discords literally have point form actual recaps of entire scenarios / groups / heists/ full streams/etc So if a streamer is sitting in their meta chat on discord and actively participating in their characters "meta" why it's called meta then they are reading actual synopsis of entire recaps and this is going to ultimately effect their RP on the server. I've said this before but reading a meta discord is like reading the post production script of the movie before going to the movie. Whereas a meta chat in twitch chat or watching the odd 30s clip here and there with chat after stream is like watching a trailer before going to the movie. It's definitely different. Anyone who says otherwise is simply defending their streamer because their streamer does this.
@Browncoatful your saying that there judgement is different but what is the different to them going into that discord and talking to ppl and twitch chat saying the same meta? Say your a streamer and someone puts meta in your chat and you see it but don't act on it and just ignore it but you still see it and know it but don't act on it. But now say in another world you go into your discord and someone says that same meta as before but you still don't act on it and you ignore it. There is legit NO difference. The only difference in all of this is IF you use the meta or let it affect how you play. Its not about where you got it from twitch or discord or even twitter for fucks sake. You either know and see meta and everyone that plays does because either they are in someones discord or stream themselves they will still see it amd know. It's very simple. You will see it regardless it's more about if you use it AT ALL.
Hell I know GREAT streamers that watch clips with there chats after or before a stream and honestly if that player wasn't in that situation themselves amd they watch a clip that is technically meta. The good ones just don't use it.
@@philipspigelmeyer959 So there is a glaring issue with your idea which is what is the justified reason streamers NEED to be in their meta chats? Because if something can potentially be used to cheat and you are going to let them do so in hopes they follow the honor system, it best be for a valid reason else why take the risk? The issue is, there is no justified reason. So it is taking potential risks that affect the entire server for no reason. It is the equivalent of a state saying officers will no longer pull people over for speeding and expecting no one to abuse that. In both instances, you risk something for no justified reason. Not to mention the fact that we have already seen streamers doing some wild shit behind the scenes of RP so I certainly would not trust them to never meta if they can just go to a discord and see all the meta
Nope. Being exposed to meta affects your decisions no matter what, so you have to make a good faith effort to avoid it. Many streamers have attempted fighting meta by not using the info and it just doesn't work. Something a lot of people tried is realizing what they would do if they knew the meta and doing the exact opposite so their character doesn't benefit from the knowledge. However that doesn't help because even though your character doesn't benefit the meta still forced the character to do something the character probably wasn't going to do. Anything unnatural that happens due to meta influence really fucks with the integrity of the story because the opposition were probably expecting your character to have a specific response, but all of a sudden they have to deal with a response that doesn't make much sense because it is either too good of a response or a braindead response. Its because of all this meta that longterm storylines don't really exist in RP anymore.
It's hard to separate out what the streamer knows and what the character doesn't know sometimes. Hell, I've seen some RP'ers read some meta from glancing at live chat and then say, out loud, "Well, I can't do/act on what you said now, even if it logically would have made sense, because it got planted in my head not from my own volition." Avoiding meta as much as possible by having moderated live chat and a separate meta channel in a discord that the streamer (and other streamers) don't have access to is the best way to ensure genuine RP all around. I use meta chat all the time for one streamer I follow and I *never* see the streamer in it. The mods handle that. It shouldn't *need* to be a feature but, it's the best way to ensure you don't even get called out for suspicion of meta gaming. NP is supposed to heavily enforce metagaming but, it seems to not be enforced well. Not sure about other servers enforcing it but, I imagine it might be difficult to enforce without shadows of doubts.
