Thank you so much for uploading this series. As I recall it was originally shown late at night with no promotion. Age 17 I had discovered Sartre and was reading everything I could find by him. I spotted this series in the Radio Times - it was the last episode. 34 years later I can finally watch it all.

What an incredible imagining of The Roads to Freedom. I am so happy to see this series finally after five years of anticipation. The acting, the scenery, the accuracy in Sartre's tone and creation was done far better than I could have hoped for. This series is absolutely chilling and a complete masterpiece. Thank you for the upload.

Thank so much for making these available for us to see. I remember seeing some parts of the series when it was first broadcast but I was too young - only 12 - to understand it or take to it, and probably at that age found it rather boring. My mother watched it all, though, and I think she thought of it very highly. Had she still been here I am sure she would like to have viewed it all again. Many thanks.

Many thanks for this, what an incredible series that was. It's odd how it's never referred to in retrospective programmes about the BBC; in fact I've barely heard it being spoken about at all, and I've been around for as long as this dramatisation itself. I'm off to read the original books now.

Saw this when I was very young. Brilliant. So enjoyed seeing it again. Sad to think Michael Bryant is dead, and Georgia Brown. Wonderful series.

An excellent series produced when censorship was not as rigorously imposed as in today's socially conformist times. Just watched all 13 episodes and can certainly agree with Mathieu's words 'I'm going to die for nothing. I have lived only to die.' Death is indeed the only freedom. And as Hermann Hesse said in Steppenwolf 'In so far as a mother bore me, I am guilty. I am condemned to live. I am obliged to belong to a State, to serve as a soldier, to kill and to pay taxes for armaments. And now at this moment the guilt of life has brought me once more to the necessity of killing people as it did in the war. And this time I have no repugnance. I am resigned to the guilt. I have no objection to this stupid congested world going to bits. I am glad to help and glad to perish with it.'

I understand the fascination with Communism in the face of Fascism. But history has proven Camus the more discerning philosopher of the day. He knew power and corruption cross all political, social, philosophical boundaries. He's my hero (except for his private life 😉; our heroes have feet of clay.)

Nice bit of blood, guts and action at the end to balance out all the people just talking in the previous episodes.
