My grandmother (who would’ve been 86 this year) carried a rain bonnet all through my childhood. There was always one in her purse except for winter. I haven’t seen one since she passed five years ago. Hit me right in the nostalgia!
This is exactly what I was going to say. My grandmother carried one too. It instantly made me think of her. She passed almost 10 years ago.
I have a couple I’ve gotten from estate sales, my favorite is a promotional one that has an insurance agent’s information on it. Very handy to keep my curls nice if there’s too much wind or rain or snow.
Same. My grandma used to give them to me when it rained and I still have one but it isn’t as cute as the one in the video
My great grandmother used to carry one as well she would have been 99 this year
Paper dress in the 60s = Shein today
my gran is currently one of the most conservative, plain people i know. looked through her old photos the other day to find bright makeup, TINY mini skirts, and a signed photo from a boy she “met” at a concert… we all have a wild teen years, don’t forget that!
Motherhood will do that to you. Hoping your kids ain’t getting into the worst trouble you were in
@@crayonburryyeah freaking right I am a mom of a 11year old boy and still a fabulous awesome metal head. Motherhood didn't change me but changed into becoming a mom but not who I am nor my style..
Dickies have saved me so much since I live in a warm climate and like layered clothing 😭
Do you where I could buy those? I did not know this existed. I would like to buy one since I live in a warm climate too 😭😭
@@akaste4413 I'm one of the people looking for an answer, thanks for this! 💕
In 2015, at the age of 35, I went into the Army. When I got my first duty station my mother and grandmother put together a "care package" for me and sent it to me. Inside was some of their home made chocolate candy, fluffy socks with sticky things on the bottom,.....and a rain bonnet in its original packaging from the 60's. Granny told me later that she found it in the back of her sewing table drawer and remembered how my grandpa complained about the rain in South Korea so she set it aside to send to me. I still have it...somewhere around here. Your short made me remember that and smile. Thank you.
P-paper dresses?
What if it rained..?
It’s not that type of paper! The were made of a more durable cellulose material called Dura-Weave, but they weren’t supposed to last a lifetime either. You know those trendy pieces you wear a couple of times, and then that’s it? Yeah, that’s what the paper dresses were trying to accomplish. More of a novelty item than anything.
@@janesays1278 Ohh I see makes sense. But since it was a novelty item it must've been expensive right?
@@RASHIloafs I’m not sure, but I don’t think so. It was billed as fast fashion, and it was definitely aimed at teens, so I’d imagine a paper dress would have been quite affordable!
I actually discovered that fast fashion started in the 60s through so-called "paper clothes" not only made from paper but also just disposable 😢(I'm writing my university thesis about it). It's unbelievable and they weren't fully aware of the effects😮
I can imagine that a one wear paper dress is less environmentally impactful than all of the polyester fast fashion that ger 2-3 wears before it falls apart or gets tossed. Although I do not know the whole process on how they were made.
@@ryleegeiger5654 True! Teens then and now go through a phase when they want the perfect trendy of-the-moment look, and then next week it all changes. Better they throw away biodegradable outfits than poly outfits.
People had also been quite quick to complain about how shortlived they were, and they stopped producing them in 1972 i think
Dang, I would actually love to read that thesis when you're done. Have you thought about putting it up on your UA-cam channel for fashion/history nerds?
@@cocobutter3175 thank you❤️ my thesis is about pollution and fast fashion so the historical part is just a chapter, I'm not a youtuber tho I'm introvert 😂😂 I just want to graduateeee
All that’s missing is a tiny little pill case for the speed to get ya going and the benzos for your hysteria
I loved the 60's. We could wear hot pants, or short skirts and next day wear a mid length dress to work.. it was crazy Cool. Time ! 💙💜❤️🧡❤
You forgot the clear vinyl high heel rain boot (some times called "over shoes") to go over your high heel shoes
why did I see this like 2 weeks after my school project on the 60s😭
@Itz_fairyrosalynnxoxo yeah it was fun. I'd never listened to anything from the 60s beforehand so I learned a bit.
Our tights had *feet*! I hate modern tights, but I dont wear them as pants except at the gym. Wearing socks with your tights cuts you off at the ankle; you appear taller, sleeker in our version!😅
I can always remember 1960s/1970s fashion because of Get Smart, i watches it all the time as a kid
More on paper dresses, please!!! So intrigued.
My grandma still uses those bonnets things. I will always remember that little bonnet she would wear, fond childhood memories.
I ABSOLUTELY ADORE colorful tights and gogo boots!! they were always my favorite style from the 60s!!
This brought back memories to my grandma, thank you! ❤
Loved the miniskirts on the Star Trek uniforms in this era! So cute!
My Mom wore all the hippie patterns in mod styles for the 70’s. I found her old trunk and stole so much fabric!
We called the turtlenecks Dickies and mostly the boys wore them. There were paper dresses but nobody actually wore them. We really did wear the p
Bell bottom pants, bikini, nehru jackets, blue navy jackets.
the rain bonnets are adorable!
The turtle neck look without the bunk is A MUST
Missed the fact that the 1960s fashion was somehow better than the early 2000s.
Wait I did not know Lily Pulitzer has been around that long lollll
That Lilly is stunning
Some really cute outfits in this one!
Man I freaking love the 60's. 2000/10 time period 😌
my mom was a teenager in the 60s and I have some pictures of her in dresses with skirts so short I'm surprised she didn't get a fine for indecent exposure.
I needed this! Me and my friends are going to do a 1960-2000 dress up for halloween and im 1960. This helps so much with figuring out what to wear
(yes i know its still march)
Girl i was here before 200 subs. You’re so creative and consistent! Congrats on the growth!
1960s fashion looks so cute!
Space age fashion is just dressing up like a remote control
I have a doll dress and matching hat that looks like it could be something out of the 1950's or 1960's though it is a newer dress that is factory made for American Girl sized dolls. It just has that style you find around that time. I do actually want to get a complete outfit that fits the doll that was made in the 1960's or 1950's for my collection though.
literally my favorite era (at least in the 20th century) of fashion
You killed it in the “teeniest tiniest miniskirt”
Loved the scarf skirt, loved the Courrèges dress.
Gosh I want the space age fashion dress! These are all so lovely but that one stole my heart.
60s and 70s fashion is so fun I love it
My granny owned several rain bonnates however I never saw her wear them
I love the space age fashion. Id wear that in a heartbeat
Love that first blue dress!!
okay but the turtleneck thing is GENIUS
I like the old fashions a lot! :) (I like the way fashion kind of rotates around...)
Love your smile.....
60’s to 60s, perfect!
NEVER would a pillbox hat clash so wildly with the outfit as in your illustration.
Thank you pile 1 resonates so much 😉!
Your rain bonnets bring back so many fond memories or the women in my family. My little sister and I were made to wear them too!
I think you may have missed some of the psychedelic pattern dresses
Have to say gloves/hats really add a nice layer to an outfit.
Double knit
Chains as trim
Pants could be wide and not so long, or short and tight
Thick yarn tied around ponytail in bows
Fur on boots, hats, coats
Pixie/ cloche hats
Tights in every possible color and prints
Peekaboo cutouts
Ski sweaters & pants
Mondrian patchwork
Maryjanes
Lots of color
Super bell bottom pants and peasant blouses!!
Ooh, that dress you wear in example number 8! Love it!
I love the disposable dresses
BRO THE TURTLENECK THING IS SO COOL-
Your timeless. ❤
Please bring back 1960s rain bonnets!!
I love mini skirts and hot pants.
I dress like the 1960s alot except for when I'm sick
I remember when I was 12 years old my grandma bought me one of those plastic rain caps they go get their hair done and they had wearmouth a beauty shop if it was raining
Leather skirts and Nehru collars and jackets. They were only "in" for a little while (around 1968-1969), but they were popular around the same time as the paper dresses. Also, mini dresses worn as tunic tops in the winter with matching pants.
Your videos are fantastic. Thankyou❤❤❤❤
I love the 60s :)
I just love everything of this short🤌🏻👏🏻😍😍😍😍coming from someone born in '99 lol who loves 1960s fashion 😊
I’m not complaining about that mini skirt.
My favorite fashion era. I wish you'd have spent more time on it!
You forgot hot pants and ankle socks.
#5 looks beautiful on you
the fake turtleneck is fire tho omg
My tunic tops are as long as my dresses used to be.
that space age dress looks like a tv remote
best fashion era
Oh man, I love this so much 🥰🥰🥰
we still use those turtle necks things..even for collars and such
So excited for your 60s video I love 60s clothes and music
A 1960's fashion trend missing here was the hippie look from 1967 to even 1970: flowing dresses, vests and boots with fringe, early versions of bell-bottoms, super long hair, unkempt beards, flipflops, and floral prints for women
For that turtleneck look without the bulk ... and without the warmth either.
I graduated from high school in 1967. Girls were “preppy” till about 1965.
After that, many of us in the SF Bay Area slipped into the hippy days. I never saw women wearing hats.
Rain bonnets sound like a good idea !
Last time I wore anything from the children's section, I was eight.
Why were the harmonies so good 😂
Hippird man ya miss ippy fashion all the time!
Idk why but the concept of "dickies" is GENIUS to me
love love this
I remember older women wearing those plastic hats in the late 70s.
You got talent
I like the space age.
I see a lot of dickies here in Denmark, but they are often worn on top of a sweater to keep you warm while cycling.
I need that turtleneck thing
That’s so cute!
The skirt reminds me of an Aussie shop that upcycles Sari’s into new clothes!
I wish it was easier to get these clothes where I live, theyre so pretty and idk how to sew 😭
That one dress looked like an old school Nintendo controller!! 😍
I have a 1966 disposable dress in the packaging still!!
I once bought this nice skirt for winter. I wore it five or six years and when i couldn't fit in, i noticed that it was for kids to 12 years. I was 22 at that time.
I love your vids your vids inspired me to try some inspired vintage outfits
I NEED THE TURTLENECK THING
“Skirts should be the size of a belt.”
didn't they do that in the 80s
@@sof7068 omg yours is my on wattpad 😭😭
Looking at old pictures, I think 1960s skirts are normal in length, but they were very high-waisted so they stopped at the upper thigh. Fashion didn’t enter the belt skirt era yet.
