This is about the 4th time I have watched this film and it still astounds and heartens me. I was an X-ray tech and EMT in Boston when this happened and I desperately wanted to go help but fellow techs talked me out of it pointing out that it would be an unfamiliar hospital with machines I hadn't dealt with before and I might just be getting in the way. There was also the question of where I could stay so I started a drive for NYC. We amassed a bunch of both durable medical equipment and supplemental items such as X-ray film, masks, bandages and such and 4 big rig truck drivers loaded it all up and drove it down. We didn't expect any thanks, we felt that as medical people and Americans we were doing what we could, but amazingly we did receive thank-you cards from some of the hospitals the supplies ended up going to. If only people could remember that time when America was united like never before the political situation would resolve for the better, but it is good to know that as that doctor said "when the chips are down people will step up to the plate".

I’ve watched nearly all of the 9/11 documentaries available on UA-cam, so finding this one, that I’d never seen, is fantastic. What an incredible film, with spectacular heroes.

I'm studying to become a CNA... I can't avoid putting myself in my fellow EMTs shoes. 😢 Never forget.

Incredible video. Thank you to our heroes and the healthcare professionals that never gave up to help and save as many lives as they could during the 9/11 tragedy. “Real heroes don't wear capes. Real superheroes wear uniforms and badges and stethoscopes! Real superheroes are members of our military, law enforcement, and first responders.”-Dean Cain

The tragedy of the deaths at the WTC could have been worse. The investigation said upwards of 15000 people were evacuated from the towers before the collapse thanks to first responders, good planning, and ordinary people helping each other.

I’ve heard a story from a paramedic who thought a lady almost sliced in half was too far gone, she kept yelling “I’m not dead”; but he decided to move past here to save others who weren’t as injured. I wonder if Jane Doe 1 is the same lady from that story…

Deborah mardenfeld, you can look up her name on YT & there’s a short video of her in the hospital & those that helped her. Terrible, but she’s a strong woman.
Also, the “I’m not dead” reminds me of the man on one day in America. He was doing triage & saw a lady. He thought she was dead because she was in terrible condition. He put the black (deceased) tag on her & she said, I’m not dead. He couldn’t believe she was speaking and said he told her he put the wrong tag on her & he would send help. He didn’t because he believed she would only survive another few minutes. I think of that lady often & wonder, what if. :(

@@juliebryant7942 Do we know the name of the Im not dead woman?

@@DoloRoboto unfortunately, no. And I don’t think we ever will. The man mentions her in the National Geographic, one day in America show, but never says he went back or anything. Just that it took his psychiatrist years to move her around in his head so he didn’t think about her all the time. I’ve watched every documentary, show or special I could on 9/11 & I’ve never heard her mentioned by anyone else. I think of her so much & wonder what her name was. He describes her as possibly being an office lady or even a lady from the plane that hit the ground. But no clothing detail or anything like that. :(
