I make my dinner menu either on Sunday or Monday and write my list according to that and go to the grocery store every Monday. We have saved so much money because I get what’s on my list with maybe a couple of random things but I’m not just getting things thinking I’ll use them I know that everything I’m getting is gonna be used for our dinners and lunches/leftovers for that week. I’ve been doing this for 2 years now and we love it.
Good to hear that Allison is better.
Being it's just the two of us now, we bulk shop once every other month. But if we need staples like milk, bread etc. we'll run to the store, and we don't have a budget either. When the kids were at home it was shopping once a week on a budget.
I want to wish Alden a happy birthday as well.

A few cat names could be Wilma, Henrietta, repunzel, Elsa, or Zoe. Our family meal preps every two weeks, so we sit down and meal plan each day for two weeks at a time. We consider sports, and work schedules when we plan. Meal prep is so great! Then we plan lunches for work for the two weeks also but not pencil in what each one is so we have options.

Amanda if you find a local beef farmer around you we split a half a cow with our neighbors so we have beef for months. It is an expensive up front cost but saves you in the long run and does not have all the water content of grocery store beef.

We meal plan, and I get groceries delivered because I can't drive for medical reasons. But the delivery stops the impulse buying, and I can stay on budget. I always have something in the freezer that I can thaw out if plans change. Lots of pantry ingredients on hand for home-made soups in case we run out of ideas. (canned chicken for taco soup, dry lentils, split peas, etc.)
We were sick around our house so I’ve been cleaning to get rid of germs.

I bought a Vacuum Food Sealer and let me tell ya! I don’t know how I lived without it! When I buy the big thing of chicken like yours, I slice each breast in the center and make 2 thinner breast out of one thick one. So it automatically doubles my chicken amount. I will seal a lot of the thin ones individually, then do the rest in 2 to a vacuum seal bag, and divide my hamburger meat in 1lb sections and I push it all down flat before sealing it. That away if it’s just me, I can grab 1 of the 1lb ones or if kids are coming, I can grab the bigger ones. But always flatten the hamburger before sealing so it’s easy to unthaw and cook. I’ve also done sweet potatoes, fried potatoes (uncooked) and they are like I just cut them when I go to fix them. Plus it takes up less freezer space too. Check into it. I’ve had zero food waste since doing this. And still use meat that’s been frozen for over 6 months, and there’s zero freezer burn and taste like you just bought it. I also do chicken tenders as well. And you can pre-cook food and then vacuum seal to eat at a later date.

@@pennybenson7194 my oldest son and his fiance know I buy the big packages of meat and break them down and one time when they were struggling and needed food they came “shopping” at Moms. They were shocked to see my meat stash. Lol but once I sat them down and showed them what I have, and how to cut the breast in half to double it, they do all of it now too. And they said they felt it was strange when they make the thinner breast, that they get just as full on one thinner one as they do I bigger one. So I don’t think you realize you’re missing half of it when you’re eating. Lol anyways, it will help you preserve your meat and cut down on a lot of waste. I also store my strawberries and blueberries in mason jars with the lid on in the fridge and they last way longer than storing them in their original containers.
I like to stock up on meats when it's on sale....those sealers sure come in handy.
