When I was little, children from a family in my neighborhood used to have this. I loved it when I went to their house! This brings back so many memories!
Ah, this is pure nostalgia for me. Hearing the songs again immediately made me remember playing with this as a child. I actually searched out someone playing all the songs when I saw a remake of the toy in a store today. I don't imagine it sells really well but I'm seriously considering buying one for my son. Or maybe more for me. :)
+Mrs Musica be very careful! the new ones are just music players, they use batteries and the records just contains chips on them. They're nothing like the originals. I'm trying to get a hold of one of the old vintage ones for my nephew and I suggest doing the same.
I still have my Fisher Price record player after 48 years! Found it in a box in the basement. I think the green record played 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star'. I remember running my fingers under the yellow 'record needle' and playing all the tones at once as a kid.
Edelweiss! That's amazing. That song was featured in The Sound of Music. I'd love to have one of these just for nostalgia's sake...and I didn't even grow up with one.
this link showed up in my suggested plays. ua-cam.com/video/Wfy-YaxHuG0/v-deo.html had to search out this "original" plastic version. well, the plastic version was my original exposure anyway.
i had one of those when I was a kid. the record colors were the same colors as the ones in this video, but the jack and jill /humpty dumpty record was light aquamarine instead of blue, the twinkle twinkle little star/au clair de la lune record was light purple instead of orange, the where has my little dog gone/london bridge record was light green instead of light aquamarine, the children's marching song/camptown races record was blue instead of light purple and the eidelweiss/ hickory dickory dock record was orange instead of light green
sheepwolf2004 Wow, mine were these very same colors too, although I felt sure that "Happy Birthday" was one of the songs on the lime green record - I guess I remembered wrong. Great memories here! :)
Seven years later, I just figured out why I thought that "Happy Birthday" was on the lime green record - my grandma used to get many of those small toy radios with the music box inside - there was one of those with Happy Birthday and the radio had the same green color as the record. Simply two childhood memories blurred together! :)
Dude, needs winding up much more strongly than that! You'll know when it's enough, it will resist more winding quite strongly when it's done, you'll be in no doubt.
Awww... Now these are like the little records I remember having, with them little dot-nubs in the record grooves. But I can't remember what songs were on the records or the colors... Old age?? LOL :oD
How is yours in such good shape? Was this yours as a child and are you keeping it? I just bought one but it's decals are all cracked and near falling off. It's also very dirty and faded on the white top area. The discs are real faded and dirty too. I'm impressed by yours. I would pay tons for yours when I'd have the money around spring. Tax return time is friend to all lol. You are so lucky to have one in such wonderful condition. I mean it really sounds so nice. It's not all slow and struggling like most of them I've heard on UA-cam. I do appreciate having the opportunity to own one at all. Thank you for sharing.
Hi, yes it belongs to our family and was in storage for many years. We are not looking to sell at this time. I should come out with a newer HD video. Thanks for the comments!
Humpty dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall. All the KING'S HORSES and all the KING'S MEN Couldn't put Humpty together again... Because Humpty Dumpty was a massive, heavy CANNON mounted on a retaining wall and, once it was fired a few times, broke apart from its mounting. Nobody could remount it.

Memories of a simpler time. I wish I still had mine.
Agreed.
I had one of these! Was bought it when I was about 4 years old - 1975 I expect. Wow, that has taken me right back. Incredible what sound can do!
This reminds me of my little sister when she was listening to this in her crib as a baby. She's now 48, married with 2 sons
Definitely nostalgic for me. Thank you so much for posting this
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for posting this. It means so much to me. Especially eidelweiss 😿
One of my favorite toys as a child.

Had the exact same one. I miss it.
I still have mine, so great memories. Once my son is old enough, I'm gonna give it to him. I'm curious if he'll like as much as I did.
I'm sure he will. Our little ones played it over and over again...
I wonder how many parents played these to put their babies to sleep. So sweet and nostalgic!
Forgotten sounds of my childhood. Makes me cry
It was a great time to be a kid. ❤️

When Christopher Plummer passed away, I played edelweiss on this music box to honor him.
👍 He was one of the greats!

In the time of the ancients I had this thing.

The first song was also used in commercials for ZBT Baby Powder in the '60s: "ZBT helps your baby rest / Protects while baby's sleeping..."
I used one when I was in Kindergarden.
