Kumiko crosscut sled Video - • Make a Kumiko Crosscut...
This was my very first attempt at making a tambour door so why not add some kumiko and epoxy to the mix? Tambour is much easier than I originally thought and I'll definitely be doing more of it in the future. Be sure to subscribe and ring the bell so you don't miss future videos.

What a beautiful design!! I can't explain how awesome this is
Thanks so much!! I really appreciate that and I'm glad you enjoyed it
Another great build, Johnny.
This is such a great build Johnny! Hard to believe it's made from 2x4's. Love the handle wrap technique. I'm going to have to try that!
That is buddy! It's hard for me to believe too
I love it 😀😍
Beautiful, very original top + bottom design. Hope the next tambour project will have a pattern that can hide the removed material!
Thanks! I've thought about that and it's definitely possible. Just need to do a lot of careful measuring
I like the cabinet, especially the inlay on the diagonal. I've too many liquor bottles on my bar for the use you're doing here, but I can see adding a shelf and a few small lined drawers behind the tambor door, and mounting the cabinet at either the mstr. bedroom or front entry door to hold my pocket stuff; wallet, keys, etc.. You made a beautiful cabinet, and I'll be giving it a go in the near future. Bravo
Glad you enjoyed the video. Adding shelves and drawer would make it a great edc storage area
Turned out really nice....the only thing that I don't like is how the the front pattern does not line up correctly. I know this was unpreventable doe to the saw kerf. I wonder if there is another way to do this where it would keep the pattern lined up. Maybe cut the strips first, then cut dado and put in the inlays...a lot more work, but then it would look like a professional piece...oh and use hardwood instead of 2x4 pine
This is such a high quality work! You explain and show everything we need to know. I hope your channel gets picked up. ;)
Thanks! That means a lot. I'm glad you enjoyed it
This look amazing, great job! There are a lot of videos for tambour doors but this is my favorite! I love the style, black finish and the handle wrap.
Excellent job!
Thanks so much!! I really appreciate that 😁
Slick build Jonny. As someone who has done tambour before: I approve this message... or something. Lolz. Get it boiiii.
Hahaha thanks man! It's much easier than I originally thought
@@JTWoodworks yeah! I wish I had a bandsaw to be able to have as little material loss as possible. And great call on getting the quartersawn grain. That makes life so much easier.
Bandsaw helps but left the cut pretty rough even with a new blade. I didn't show it but I sanded both sides of every piece
@@JTWoodworks I bet a nicely tuned block plane would have been great for that task too 😉
Oh for sure! Mine needs some tuning
WOW, great build. 2 pieces of 2x4, Awesome. Love the Kumiko panel and dark resin. Thanks for sharing
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was a fun one
SO nice bud! I definitely am remembering that no not handle wrap tip - so cool!
Yea it gives it such a clean look. I feel like you can definitely use that in your projects
@@JTWoodworks Definitely and I will be!
nice video thanks! love the editing, especially the overlay you did when rounding that corner
Thank you!! I'm glad you enjoyed it 😊
Incredible work! It looks amazing!
Thanks for the help! Couldn't have done it without you
Awesome work Johnny! 😍👌🏻👍🏻👊🏻
Thanks Fred! Appreciate it 😊
Great skill and originality’ Johnny
Thanks! It was a fun project
I have done a few projects using 2x4's where I cut strips and reglue them like this. I think it looks amazing if you can find some tight-grained 2x4s.
Nice work!
Nice! Yup that's why I cut and glued the panels this way. The grain makes a huge difference
Awsome work nice cabinet
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it
Looks great.
Thanks Dave!
Beautiful and well thought out piece Johnny. I really apreciate the addition of kumiko in your design. You asked what your viewers would put inside the cabinet...for these Canadian winter months I would place a bottle of Highland Park 18 inside. Cheers
Thank you! It was a fun build. I haven't tried that one but seems good. Cheers!
I always learn something from your videos. Thanks. As for contents, Bruichladdich Port Charlotte and
Lagavulin 16 Year. Plus a couple of Glencairn whisky tasting glasses.
Could never go wrong with Lagavulin. Glad you enjoyed the video!
@@JTWoodworks If you haven't tried the Port Charlotte, I highly recommend. Heavily peated but more approachable than the Lagavulin.
I'll give it a try. Thanks for the recommendation
Loving your work once again. Hard to believe something so beautiful started out as plain old 2 x 4’s.. thanks for sharing. 👍
Thanks Todd! Glad you enjoyed it
Any plans for this build?? Would like to build one.
None as of yet but I'm working on it
