Your smiling demeanour and unlimited energy stands out. On the topic of Girmitt... this talk of kaccha and sukha baffles me. Growing up in the late 60s and 70s, the dry churmuri khara with peanuts was a part of every house and was a ready snack. Likewise karchikai and dry avalakki.
This dry chilli powder flavoured sukka churmuri...is more bhadang ( as it is referred to in Maharashtra) than Girmitt.
The real Girmitt is our uttara Karnataka's equivalent of North Indian bhel. Is a lot quicker as the wet gravy is prepared well in advance. The puffed rice ( churmuri) is tossed into that an alluminium vessel with a narrow mouth just enough to thrust the whisking spoon to churn the gravy, puraani powder, puffed rice, tomatoes, sev and chivda. Once ready .a generous amount of coriander and a fried green chilli is added to the pile before serving.
A mirchi bhajji to go with it. And a cup of chaha. Back in those days. For 1.50 paisa or less, one could savour it. With times taste changes, there are different varieties and presentation too.

His father had a unique style of making Kachcha sukka by swinging the spoon from one place into the Vessel directly and he was preparing it right on the spot, now they get the packets prepared already, I never miss to visit this place whenever I am visiting Hubli.
