Morris parked in front of the shopping center, staring out the window into the early August evening.
The day was nearing sunset, but the cool, fresh twilight was still far off due to the late summer darkness.
Morris had a crazy day at work, from summarizing the month's activities to developing a new project. However, he enjoyed the multitasking.
The constant problem-solving kept him engaged, like a captivating game. But most importantly, it kept his mind off melancholic thoughts and prevented him from dwelling on the past.
Morris was in no hurry to get out of the car, enjoying the cool cabin while the street outside sweltered in an abnormal heatwave.
People were yearning for the fall and the chance to breathe freely.
Morris looked out the window again. Two people came into his field of vision: a middle-aged man and a lanky teenager.
I have heard this story before. But since you are such an excellent narrator, I have had to listen to it once more, up to the very end!

Morris could not overcome his selfishness. Even though the story is a good one, it's still unfortunate that Kelly had to die in such a way . If Morris had shown such concern from the beginning Kelly would have safely given birth to her baby. Luckily Morris grew up at last.
Not a happy story! A happy story would have been Kelly not dying and years later she and Morris would have met again. Now, having said this, please do not bombard me with hateful comments. The comment section is for personal views of the story. I personally enjoy this narrator and her stories. Just....not this one. Thank you and have a nice day.
@za... Agreed… it's not a "happy" story; yet, it does have genuine heart + happiness as well… just, sadly, with the bad parts of life and people's actions, especially Morris's.

Morris was wrong in leading Stephanie on. He should have a good time with her when they meet in a club and leave her. He made Stephanie fall in love with him which was hard on her when Morris told her to leave. Morris now meet Kelly and leave together. Kelly want to have a child but Morris say he is not ready. But Kelly has to tell him that she is pregnant. Morris was disappointed because he still want to travel build up his business and he is not ready. Kelly was not happy. Morris told her that she want to marry him like everyone. Kelly was shock. She took her things and left. Morris was sorry what he said and try to stop him but she did not turn back. Morris did not sleep that night. Then there was an accident and the car seemed to be Kelly's car. Kelly was admitted in the hospital. Morris went to see her but they don't allow him because he is not related to her. Kelly now in very bad condition and eventually died. Poor Kelly. Now Morris feel guilty because it was him that caused Kelly's death. Morris now in a bad shape as he did not want to see anyone or look after himself. Kathy his friend comfort him and he felt ok. He want to buy groceries and show a child finding food in the rubbish bin and then left. Morris decided to follow him to his house. He saw an old man come out and saw Morris. The old man started to question Morris why he was there. He told him the reason why he follow his grandson. But Morris was not happy that his grandpa is drinking. His grandpa told Morris that his mother left and did not return. Anyway, Morris help them paying food and othed items. Morris continue help them. One day the old man ring Morris that some women come to take his grandson. Morris told them he will look after him. He told them will apply for the child adoption. Morris may be was doing this to the child because of what happened to Kelly. Morris ask Kathy to help him look after the boy and he will pay her which she accepted. In order to adopt the child he need a wife. Morris ask Kathy to be his temporary wife to adopt the child. Kathy told him that she knew him at school. Wow what an ending for both of them. Life is a mystery.
