i can recommend Halloween Horror Festival at Movie Park Germany (former Warner Brothers Movie World). 8 Mazes, most of them pretty high quality. theres also Halloween events at Toverland (Netherlands) and Walibi Belgium, wich are at least just as good, if not better from what ive heard. but movie park really has the universal feeling to it during their halloween events.
I think, it were the best, if universal would built a park in the near of Paris. Not far from the area from DLP. Then Disney would react and will do much more for DLP than now.
@user-vi8uv8nc5u that's not really how it works in Europe unfortunately. We have lots of major parks in the germany/netherlands/belgium/France and none of them have to compete each other.
The two best European themeparks, and perhaps even the two best in the world are completely independently owned : The Efteling and Europapark. The first is owned by a very old foundation based on strict guidelines and the second one is a traditional family business, run and owned by the Mack family who even produce their own rides. Both these parks offer a much better experience than Disneyland: more rides, no additional manipulative cash grabs with dodgy fast pass systems and you can even bring your own food and drinks if you like. Both parks have great attendance numbers, make healthy profits and invest most of that straight back in to their parks and frequently add new innovative rides. Its just great to see what can be done when people actually care and make an effort instead of just a faceless corporation only interested in growth numbers for their shareholders. The Efteling and Europapark show that a privately owned and smaller operation that keeps a close eye on things is the way forward for quality themeparks. They make ridiculously clear what a complete rip off Disney and potentially Universal have become. You just cant argue with price and quality, no matter how many big movie IP's you trow in there.
Hoping Universal do take over Portaventura because I know people who, like myself, won`t set foot in the place again until the current management`s obvious strategy of purposing slowing down operations to make the queues bigger so more people buy Express tickets which they sell in unlimited numbers. The place is coming a total rip off.
I am all for universal to hopefully return to Europe particularly portaventura i would like them to keep the park how it is but add a 3rd gate with the wizarding world,Jurassic park, Nintendo ect a hhh event would also be cool. It would be nice to have a universal park that isn't like 4000 miles away
universal wouldn't compete with disney if they're in Spain.. idk, if universal wants to compete directly theyd have to he in North France, England or Germany
If Universal is set to buy an existing park, the best and most probable option is PortAventura by far. The resort maintain lots of remnants of their previous Universal management (Woody is still the icon of the park, alongside other famous Universal cartoons) and when Universal managed the park, it resembled IOA. The resort has 5 amazingly good hotels, good connections via train/high velocity train (even from Paris), car and airplane (much better than many of the options mentioned), and also Spain has a better climate than most of Northern Europe. However, the resort needs a major and urgent overhaul, specially on the operations, and they would need to spend a lot of money to put the park in a "Universal" status, but overall I think that would be a smart move from Universal. And if Universal is set to build from scratch, France would a good option as well, just like Belgium, Netherlands or Germany. But the soil in Europe is the most expensive and most of it is exploited or owned by someone, and it might be a nightmare to build, so I think that's not a good option. Anyways, good video and review of all the things that are going on at the moment!! Keep it up
Thank you! Your comment hits all the right notes. Current management is not worthy of the Universal name, by far. It would require a big investment to get it up to the American standards! But building a resort from scratch would be so much more expensive and risky! PortAventura is, once again, Universal’s best bet to enter the European market.
Universal has no theme park in Europe, sadly. I hope for a Universal Themepark in Germany. I think when 2 Amusement Park Companies are competing Together, its not a war. We have war in The Ukraine.
I think I would prefer Universal to set up shop in the UK. However, a Spanish resort becomes an actual holiday destination. A theme park, water park, hotels, city walk area means you could spend a good week there, whereas a UK resort would likely be a one night kind of thing.
I don’t see DLP struggling if Universal is in Spain. Paris is insanely easy to get to in Northern Europe. Spain is a nightmare unless you fly. DLP is about a 9 hour drive from the north of the U.K. which is about as far as you’d want to. Spain is 21 hours so you’d have to fly. In fact for most of Northern Europe you’d have to travel past Disneyland to get there… might be a one off trip for a lot of families.
but flying is still cheap (relatively) We are going to Salou next week and flights/hotel 3 days in the park(included in package) half board in a 4* hotel has cost us £1K (2 people)
Yes but flights to BCN and Reus are cheap. Plus we went in January and I was walking around in a t-shirt at mid day. You don’t get that at DLP. The climate has been its main draw back.
I worked at Disneyland Paris at the opening and there was Germany, France, UK & Spain considered for the site. Germany didn’t have enough land without too many valleys and mountains, Spain couldn’t afford it and the UK wasn’t central enough in Europe. They chose france coz it has a lot of flat spare land and the farmers were ready to sell off what they weren’t using
If Dineyland Forward gets off the ground, Paris and California are probably going to be Disney's main focus. Disney World will need something after the Animal Kingdom overhaul either with new Pavilions at EPCOT (Play, Showplace replacement/UK expansion, attractions in Germany and Japan, either expand Italy or put Greece next to it, Brazil seems to come and go to be between Italy and Germany)
@@crunch1757 Zoning has been a serious roadblock for them in the past. The political environment in California hasn't been this good for Disney in over 20 years. Might as well get all this stuff done now before the winds change again.
I agree, more money doesn’t always equal better results. Hopefully it will be put in good quality projects and not a good quantity, or maybe a bit of both!
Reacquiring PortAventura would be the simplest option, but if Universal were to go all-out and build a new park, there would be 3 prime candidates for the location: 1. The UK. A location in the Southeast of England close to London in a native English speaking country would be easy to market, but would also be the most expensive to construct, and the geographic separation from Europe would limit the numbers of Mainland Europe visitors. 2. Western Europe - Somewhere near Strasbourg along the Franco-German border would be easily reached by the huge populations of the rest of France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands & Switzerland. However, the park would endure the heaviest competition, with Disneyland Paris nearby in the French capital as well as other big European parks like Efteling in Holland & Europa Park, Heide Park & Phantasialand in Germany. 3. Northern Italy - a beautiful Mediterranean climate in the peak summer season & better year-round weather than the other, colder European locations together with accessibility from France, Spain, Switzerland & Austria and a lack of world-class competitor parks make Italy attractive, but it'd also be harder for richer UK, German & Parisian guests to visit, and has the smallest visitor potential.
Uk is not going to be it, due to now being outside the EU, regulations are not going to be in line with the rest of the EU, no more access to certain subsidies, needing extra documentation for travellers etcetera etcetera.... plus more importantly the UK is NOT centrally located...people would need to travel to far a distance from certain countries or areas in europe.
I kinda hope that if Universal ever does end up expanding into Europe, they just built their own new park at this point. A lot of their strength comes from their IPs and how well they implement them, what would they do with Port Aventura? Throw on some cheap Nintendo or Harry Potter overlays onto pre-existing rides?
Interesting video. Whilst I doubt DLP will get a 15 billion investment I do agree that if Universal returns to Europe Disney would have to invest. Could you imagine if Universal added Super Nintendo World to Port Aventura
I think Universal can better do a takeover of the themepark toverland in the Netherlands. The founder of toverland has always says that hé loves Universal and you can see the inspiration from ioa in his park. it will be a great location in western europe and already have great coasters. And they can start a little eurowar with parks like efteling and phantasialand almost as your neighbours.
I don't know if this apport more context or information, but Spain (along Marocco and Portugal) is going to host the football world cup on 2030. This means the country is expected to renovate and improve connections so they can handle that massive amount of tourists... That's is an interesting point to consider if they are planning to set a new park, like if one of the issues is the connections and then you get the country going all for it for other reasons...the timing...
I hope they will be in Europe, but I think „competing” with DLP won’t happen soon. Spain is too far away for a lot of Europeans, I also think the general public in Europe doesn’t care about Universal as much as Disney. (Just because people don’t know what ip’s Universal actually owns) I can’t wait to see what it develops into though!
Guests will only win indirectly. Larger, newer and more expensive parks are always accompanied by higher admission prices and costs in the park itself. Disney is already very strong and here, too, the competition between the parks will ultimately go into new dimensions. It remains to be hoped that the European guests can still afford this.
Very good information, but the park is not on the outskirts of Barcelona. Portaventura is in another Catalan province called Tarragona. Between the municipalities of Vilaseca and Salou.
Ah yes, I know and completely understand but it’s easier for outsiders to understand the location of the park. Disneyland Paris is an hour away from Paris, similarly to PortAventura.
I'm not sure if Barcelona is a great geo location for Universal. Disneyland Paris for example is smack in the middle of Western Eurooe and has both airports AND mayor train lines and high speed rail even from the UK. For Barcelona most of Western Europe would need to take an airplane to get there
In terms of connectivity nothing will even reach DLP, but there’s a lot going for PortAventura as well. Reus airport is only 10th by car away, and was looking to expand when Universal was in control of the park. High Speed trains also pass by the resort every day, so a train shuttle from that station to PA’s could be a game changer!
@@themainstreetnews There are many reasons why Universal is not fully yet in Europe, the connectivity is one of them. When Disney came in Europe, every country in Europe want to be the host country and offer Disney a lots of advantages, France and Spain are the two countries selected by Disney, Disney has convention with France to expand the Park for 2026, then 2036 and now 2040. Can Unisersal obtain the same thing with Spain, UK or others country a long term convention to expand. Now for me building a Park like Disneyland near London, Marid, Rome, Milan, Munich is impossible. And does the european country desire it ? In the time of Disney in Europe the speech you are welcome, and can speech be the same ? The size of these Parks are so big its becomes a state''s matter.
@@SNORKYMEDIA Paris is the capital and center of France, every route depart from Paris and arrive to Paris. At Disneyland Paris there is a high speed TGV station exit at 200 meters of Disneyland gate which connect Disneyland (not Paris but Disneyland) to 17 cities of France with or without changing train example Marseille to Disneyland without changing train, and mostly there is a connection by TGV between Charles de Gaulle Airport to Disneyland 10 minutes ride. And Eurostar to Disneyland station for example London to Lille to Disneyland. A regional train from the center of Paris to Disneyland station for 40 minutes, the exit is at 50 meters in front of Disneyland gate security control and bus from various locations inside and outside Paris. "PA is in Salou an hours train ride from Barcelona" that means by train you have to go to Barcelona first from different cities of Spain ? If you are from Cadix, Gijon, Alicante... how are you going to Salou by train ? As Themainstreetnews said before nothing can reach at the level of Paris and DLP.
This will allow Universal to make their own destination. PortAventura is 10 minutes away from Reus airport, which will be getting an expansion in the near future to act as the second airport of Barcelona, like Paris’ Orly.
Wow there is a lot of wrong with you analytics. First of all DLP doesn't do well. There is a reason the previous owners (investment firms) where ready to close to failing resort. Disney tries to prep up the numbers as most of the company will be for sale as clearly can be seen from everything Bob Iger is doing. Their movies flop, Disney+ is loosing money and customers every month, their bought ip's like Star Wars, Muppets, Marvel and Pixar are all dead due to a lack of creativity in the Disney Corp. There is a reason DLP wasn't mentioned at all during D23 or the latest quarterly meetings. Sure the visitor numbers are impressive at DLP but these parks cost a ton more to run and maintain than an Europapark or Efteling and the European guest just isn't ready to spent up to 20.000$ for a week of vacation in a theme park resort like the US customers did (but they also stop coming). Non of the expansions for DLP are being build and they won't be in the foreseeable future as the company has no money. A cheap re-theming is the best you can expect. All changes in the other parks can be seen in China (only 30% owned by the Disney Corp) and Japan (100% owned by the Oriental Land company) so they don't cost Disney anything. Changes in WDW/DL are sponsored or very minor as visitor numbers dwindle down steadily. Universal is on a role but Universal is also very smart. They know Europeans can't support (financially) a fully packed theme park in Europe (as much I would like to) so that will never come to Europe. The name change is easily explained as Universal is building a small kids focused park in Texas. It's a smart concept where parents will have leisure time and kids will meet all their favorite characters like Minions, Shrek, Puss in Boots and other ip's Universal has or is working with in a nicely themed park with cheap attractions. It doing what their headliner parks don't and that is catering to the family with your children preparing them to come to the big parks in the future. It is a page from the Merlin Entertainment corp who has LegoLand, Pepa Pig and London Dungeons to name a few and this company is bigger than Disney and Universal. Talking about London Dungeon, another expansion is a year long Halloween event in Las Vegas. Universal is famous for their HHN events and transporting that to a permanent location is a smart spread of their portfolio. Both of these concept I could is in the future in Europe and the rest of the world as they are small experiences but that is all we get for the foreseeable decade.
What do you think will be the theme of Disneyland Paris's third park? I don't think it will be an Animal Kindgom 2.0,as here in Europe we have different laws about wild animals and zoos
That’s extremely hard for me to say. I haven’t done a lot of research on the animal topic in France, but I’ve heard that if Disney bought a zoo, they could then transfer the animals? Either way, not even sure Animal Kingdom would be the best third gate…
There was talk years ago that we weren't getting Marvel attractions because we'd one day get a Marvel park. I could see this coming true for Star Wars.
Universal would be crazy to buy PortAventura. It is not central enough ro be as sucessful as the others. They already had the experience and if there had been a proper profit prospect, why did Univeral leave?
Universal used to be owned by a bigger company, Vivendi. When Vivendi sold universal, the new company didn’t have a lot of interest in the international parks. Now Universal is owned by another company, Comcast, which have been investing BIG in the theme parks
Até hoje tenho a esperança de alguns desses parques, criarem uma atração temática com o tema da Fantástica Fábrica de Chocolate , algum Dark Ride algo assim !
A Universal in Mid Southern Europe would be great. Anything better than DLP which is an ok park but outdated and too expensive (visited for the first time, just one year after the opening). But regardless Universal will have a hard time topping Europa Park.
In terms of visitors, Universal would top Europa in a couple of years IF they play their cards right. DLP needs new expansions, and is finally getting them!
In Europe, Harry Potter would be the only one that competes with Disney. An i still don't understand why nothing has opened in UK, the land of Harry Potter. Last year I went to Disney Paris (1st time), and they have a lot of space to expand the park.
As an American living in Tampa, FL I am curious to know which IPs do Europeans care about the most. Do you guys like the nostalgic Disney stuff or the newer IPs?
Propably newer IPs: I think for most europeans it's Disney = princess / Castle logo. Frozen was the last big Disney thing and thats from 2013 already.... Most care alot more about the IPs Disney has bought up over the years. Primarly Star Wars. In regards to themeparks and IPs: I only regard Star Wars (Land), Super Nintendo Land and Harry Potter as actually meaningfull IPs. Marvel is sucked dry as an IP, most people I know are tired of it and don't even bother to mention it in regards to Disneyland Paris (and yeah the attraction also beeing bad doesn't help). Universal would do really good in europe with the exact IPs and attractions they build for Epic Universe. Would the Disneypark not exist at the place it already is and the two build their parks now at the same time next to each other, Disney would propably go under without an "epic" Star Wars Land. Oh and Universal could also do a jurassic park theme, since we never got anything remotly close to it here that you have/had in the US. Overall Universal would be the winner IP wise, since Disney is trying so hard to ruin the Star Wars IP.
MrMCMind said it really well. There’s some things I don’t fully agree, but for most European people who are not huge Disney or Theme Park fans, Disney is definitely more kiddy than in the US. Star Wars, Frozen, Princesses and Marvel are the biggest Disney IP’s here, but Universal’s are absolutely huge as well! Just Jurassic, Harry Potter and Nintendo would win over the crowds
@@themainstreetnews Here in the US there is a bit of a split. Some are generational purists who see going to Disney as a right of passage and don't want the newer IPs like Marvel, Moana etc. They treat some of the rides as sacred. I like the older rides also, but I also look to the future. So here in the US there is this silly fued going on. All I really want is super nice attractions that are well themed. Whether it is a slow moving dark ride or thrill coaster. I hope the fued doesn't follow overseas when Universal "eventually" gets there.
Disneyland Paris is in dire need of those new, high tech rides that scream innovation. Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Rise of the Resistance, Cosmic Rewind, Carsland… the original park hasn’t had an expansion since 1995! I love thrill rides and dark rides alike, and similarly to you, all I really want is highly themed lands with amazing attractions that makes wonder “how do they do that”?
While there are many theme parks in Europe, some mentioned in the replies here, none of those are “real” competition to DLP. Only Universal could hit DLP with their huge IP’s and theme park knowledge!
We NEED a Universal park near DLP. With little to no rivals, DLP keeps building mediocre rides and increasing the prize. But I'm not sure that Portaventura is the best choice. It's pretty far away from Paris, and Portaventura is far from being the most popular european park. People would rather go to Europapark, Efteling, or Phantasialand. Even the french (except for the disney fans) mostly prefer Parc Astérix. They would also need to promote Universal with IPs that speaks to Europeans. 'Universal' don't really ring a bell to any Europeans that are not familiar with theme parks.
I think you don't understand the European market well enough. If you compare the numbers 2 to 10, they are all around 4 to 5 million. Disney Paris is losing visitors hands over fists at the moment and the profits per person aren't that high as in the US. Also, all parks grow more than Disney. Most Europeans experience it's getting way too expensive to go there now. The smaller ones are growing way more, while Disney looses terrain to all the small ones. They do make profit indeed with the loss to own loans trick, just to keep the French government out of recieving taxes. Also, the whole Company is in bad shape at the moment worldwide by just rebranding stuff, the woke backlash and just making remakes of old stuff. Those aren't good signs and the public is noticing that. Universals coming is interesting, but I'm not sure it will be the big game changer everyone expect. We had the same joke in the '90s with the coming of Six Flags to Europe. It was a big disaster, because of not understanding the market here. Universal can have the same issues. So not so sure what will happen. Interesting times will come though, that's for sure. My vision is more region bound than pan-European. Something most American companies somehow always missing to see when coming over.
"That number has been said to be from 10 to 15 Billion euros!" What's the original source of this information? 🤔 I really hope they don't start anything on a third gate at Disneyland Paris UNTIL they've completely fixed Walt Disney Studios Park and built several major new attractions in Disneyland Park.
After all this time, you’re more than justified to be questioning this number haha. That number I got directly from Ally, founder of OutsidEars. I agree with you, WDS and DLP deserve new good expansions and novelties, they have more than 10 years to do so! The third gate only enters the conversation because of how this budget will be utilised for a long timeframe
Of course! While Ally did post about this, I did speak with him before doing so. Here we also had a small chat about it. He then posted it and told me I could use the number in the video, originally I wouldn’t!
I’ve been desperate to see a Universal Europe for years but I’m nervous about the prospect of a Spanish resort. Even though Spain has the perfect weather, the operations and maintenance concern me. Germany or the UK would be a better home for Universal but it seems unlikely at this point.
Port aventura it's my home park and there is more than 10 years that Universal's gone. I don't want US in Port aventura. I would prefer a new park as the Epic universe but in Europe. Spain France Germany.... It would be great and Will force Disneyland Paris to wake Up.
I am a bit skeptical about universal in europe. Unless you are a themepark fan, you wouldn't associate universal as a themepark company. Disney was more well known for its themeparks before they entered europe and they were struggling. I think many americans are not aware that europe is a highly competitive place for theme parks. The other problem is that europe has still language barriers and many theme parks struggle to attract crowds outside of their bubble. Disneys brand is strong enough to transcend language barriers. But universal i am not sure. What speak for Universal europe? I am not sure if universal is satisfied to be the top theme park of spain. An universal themepark would be a huge investment. Dlp has paid of, because they invested a huge amount in dlp. And universal would have to spend much more than Disney to generate the hype for an universal theme park. Universal has the problem that it is completely unknown in europe. It is the newcomer that needs to establish itself against the fierce competition. I wouldn't be suprised if universal europe won't happen anytime soon.
Based on stories I've heard around me, I don't agree. I have heard so many friends of mine saying they want to go to Universal for Nintendo and Harry Potter. The only problem is that they don't want to spend their hard earned money on a expensive airline ticket overseas just to visit a theme park. I believe if Universal comes to Europe this would make it more accessible for them. Since they also visited parks like Phantasia and Disneyland Paris in the past.
But only if they build a full scale Universal park with all the interesting IPs. DLP is a big let down because they dont have a STAR WARS Land. We had to fly to the US to experience Rise of the resistance. Which is THE best dark ride ever in my opinion. DLP has nothing to offer if your kids are older than 10 or 12. We will not go there again unless they build Galaxys Edge or at least a big new coaster. We rather spend our money at Phantasisland or Europapark where you pay half the price and get a lot more to enjoy and less wait times too and no overpriced lightning lane tickets needed too.
I would prefer Universal buys up the proposed plot of land for the London Resort and put their European park outside of London. Would be great for some extra competition in the UK & force Merlin to step up their game
An UK universal studious would make the most sense. Not only does the uk have iconic and easily to acquire properties from companies such as the BBC, ITV, Ardman, ect, but it’s also the home of Harry Potter. While the UK is no longer apart of the European Union, I think it’s still likely we’ll be seeing a universal in the uk soon.
I’m not entirely sure I understand your comment, but, no. Warner Bros does not have the rights for the Harry Potter theme parks, that’s Universal only.
Ah, it's different. Universal is the only one that can built rides and attractions based on the franchise, but experiences can be built by others, depending on their own agreement with JK and WB.
If Disneyland Paris explores a 3rd gate, I would wanna it to be an European EPCOT. Unlike Europa Park, it will focus on the culture, discovery, and history of Europe.
The entire Europa Park is focused on culture, discovery and history of Europe.... duh. In fact, there is nothing in the Disney parks that Europa Park doesn't do better. The only thing better in Disney is just the decoration of the queue lanes.....
Park Asterix does not compete with Disneyland Paris. Last year, it had 2.6 million visitors, which is about half of PortAventura’s both parks and about 18% of Disneyland Paris’ 15+ Million. It may be a great park, just like Phantasialand, but there’s no resort that is in the same level as DLP.
Of course it matters. Disneyland Paris is a destination, and Parc Asterix is just a regional theme park. PortAventura, with the help of Universal, could easily become a destination as well.
european general public unlike america is less willing to travel to themeparks that far away. were not traveling states were traveling nations. + american activities are overpriced in europe. just like how DLP is incredibly idiotic compared to EU parks
Imagine it, Universal Studios in Scotland. Not only does Harry Potter come home, but it has some of the real inspirations here. Yes the weather isnt as great as rest of Europe, but long term planning means we might be in the sweet spot for better weather in the future considering climate change. Plus if Scotland ever did want to go independent and join EU, it would be a great shout.
But like…who would go there? There isn’t a big enough crowd and Scotland doesn’t have the same “reputation” as a city like Paris. And Scotland has voted against independence multiple times.
@@Mooseman2929 yeah ok, Edinburgh doesnt draw in 3.7 million tourists every year, or 150million in 2019 to all of Scotland. But yeah, we are not big enough... Indy ref was a might, no one knows the future, not even a moose.

I am italian, but I visited DLP with some French friends a few times. While in line for Phantom Manor, I joked about Italians being loud but then... the spanish arrived. What can you do, it's part of the European Disney experience 😂
I wouldn't mind having Universal in England. I love DLP, but I would like it even better if not everything was in French. Universal in England would be great for that reason. The only problem in the future would be the visa needed to visit

I totally agree! I think the masterplan is exactly that, create a full on destination.
the UK isn't Europe anymore, so I doubt Universal would go there, it would be more difficult to attract the european crowds
@@mfb9482I wasn’t aware that the UK had joined a different continent.
lol it’s still in Europe not in the European Union
@@raphytvlogs5042 very different things
They chose france coz it has a lot of flat spare land and the farmers were ready to sell off what they weren’t using
Paris is definitely more than 9 hours from the north of the UK lol
Good thing I don't give a hoot about both off em.
Proud season ticket holder of The Efteling here, beats them every time for me.
Not sure what the exact screw up was with Meet the World where the show building has just been sitting there for 40 years without anything going on
Disneyland Forward is not an actual plan, its a zoning proposal
@@crunch1757 Zoning has been a serious roadblock for them in the past. The political environment in California hasn't been this good for Disney in over 20 years. Might as well get all this stuff done now before the winds change again.
Seriously if it wasn't the original iconic Disneyland, they would have moved it to Texas years ago.
I really hope the $15bn figure is true and if so it's not wasted. Also that any projects happen a lot quicker than the lake and frozen area.
I agree, more money doesn’t always equal better results. Hopefully it will be put in good quality projects and not a good quantity, or maybe a bit of both!
Reacquiring PortAventura would be the simplest option, but if Universal were to go all-out and build a new park, there would be 3 prime candidates for the location:
That would be amazing!
Cant even properly reach it by train. Will never happen.
I would love Universal to build a park here in the UK!
Meanwhile, Efteling is expanding and expanding.....
I hope they will be in Europe, but I think „competing” with DLP won’t happen soon. Spain is too far away for a lot of Europeans, I also think the general public in Europe doesn’t care about Universal as much as Disney. (Just because people don’t know what ip’s Universal actually owns)
I can’t wait to see what it develops into though!
You think that we don't care? Heck yeah we want a Harry Potter theme park
america: were wanna see the war between the two companys
europe: we dont want PortAventura WORLD to change
We? Who’s we? I definitely want to
I still think Efteling would remain my favorite, followed by Europa Park, Phantasialand, the Universal par and on number 5 Disney Land Paris
Guests will only win indirectly. Larger, newer and more expensive parks are always accompanied by higher admission prices and costs in the park itself. Disney is already very strong and here, too, the competition between the parks will ultimately go into new dimensions. It remains to be hoped that the European guests can still afford this.
imagine Universaal would purchase Movie Park Germany, right now its a rather small to medium size park themed around movies and just a few good rides.
and miles away from anywhere
Very good information, but the park is not on the outskirts of Barcelona. Portaventura is in another Catalan province called Tarragona. Between the municipalities of Vilaseca and Salou.
Ah yes, I know and completely understand but it’s easier for outsiders to understand the location of the park. Disneyland Paris is an hour away from Paris, similarly to PortAventura.
Great video, lets hope universal makes an announcement, and it starts the ball rolling so to speak.
You and me both!
PA is in Salou an hours train ride from Barcelona
@@SNORKYMEDIA true, but where is Disneyland Paris? Is it not an hour away from the centre of the city? It’s pretty much the same in this situation
I don't really know. Would be great to see Universal back again in Europe, but from Disney to Port Aventura is 11,5 hours by car...
Well, I guess we’ll see soon enough! Also, I recommend you check my video on the DLP revenues, you might find it interesting
at least Universal would have a park ready before I die.........
Once again a great video. I really hope the 15 billion investment is correct. Paris desperatly needs it. Can't wait to see what the future brings.

At the end of the day
Shambhala solo’s everything at Disney
Damn
Great video and analysis
Appreciate it!
As an American living in Tampa, FL I am curious to know which IPs do Europeans care about the most. Do you guys like the nostalgic Disney stuff or the newer IPs?
Propably newer IPs:
I think for most europeans it's Disney = princess / Castle logo.
Frozen was the last big Disney thing and thats from 2013 already....
Most care alot more about the IPs Disney has bought up over the years. Primarly Star Wars.
In regards to themeparks and IPs:
I only regard Star Wars (Land), Super Nintendo Land and Harry Potter as actually meaningfull IPs.
Seems universal in FL doesnt care much about the culture wars disney’s has been elbow deep in
Europe needs universal and some real competition for Disney
Phantasialand, Europa and Port Aventura
@@RichardLerwillcould also say walibi or energylandia or Thorpe park
And Efteling.
While there are many theme parks in Europe, some mentioned in the replies here, none of those are “real” competition to DLP. Only Universal could hit DLP with their huge IP’s and theme park knowledge!
I really recommed to take a closer look at phantasialand and efteling. Specialy the last one has unique ip
This is potentially huge news if it all happens
I hope universal studios return and expand to large
What is Disney like in Europe
What is it like? Awesome 🙌

"That number has been said to be from 10 to 15 Billion euros!" What's the original source of this information? 🤔
I really hope they don't start anything on a third gate at Disneyland Paris UNTIL they've completely fixed Walt Disney Studios Park and built several major new attractions in Disneyland Park.
@@themainstreetnews Thank you for your honesty, I appreciate it. Other fans would've said "inside sources" even if they just read it publicly. 🙄
Interesting to get that point of view! Universal would change quite a lot, so it’s a completely justified opinion!
Universal and AB basically created Port Aventura as it is today, singlehandedly. All the good things in the part are from them.
Not gonna happen for sure. 😂😂
Go woke go broke disney
They announced a $60 billion worldwide investment in their theme parks, but sure, go woke go broke.

Not only does the uk have iconic and easily to acquire properties from companies such as the BBC, ITV, Ardman, ect, but it’s also the home of Harry Potter. Parc Asterix is close to Disneyland Paris and does it well. So your information isn't correct. I think you also Phantasialand is great.
@@themainstreetnews How many visitors isn't important. It's important that a Parc makes profit and Parc Asterix is near Paris and makes good profit.
Of course it matters. Disneyland Paris is a destination, and Parc Asterix is just a regional theme park. PortAventura, with the help of Universal, could easily become a destination as well.
