Personally I love wider lenses, for creative work, take a look at the Sony 20mm f/1.8 G or the Sony 24mm f/1.4 GM, I’ve reviewed both on my channel! If you’re starting out / shooting on APS-C, I highly recommend the Sigma 16 f/1.4 and Sigma 56 f/1.4!
If I’m understanding correctly, you want to record the footage with the performers performing to the song played backwards then reverse it in post production. To sell this kind of effect the shots you plan should really sell the cool-ness of backwards footage (like reversing jumping into a pool) and your performers need to convincingly lip-sync the music in reverse, which will be the hardest part in making it look good.
If I’m understanding correctly, you want to record the footage with the performers performing to the song played backwards then reverse it in post production. To sell this kind of effect the shots you plan should really sell the cool-ness of backwards footage (like reversing jumping into a pool) and your performers need to convincingly lip-sync the music in reverse, which will be the hardest part in making it look good.
this is lit bro! never shot one before but definitely gonna use these tips if i do. what was the color correction plug in you used? that sounds clutch!!!
I hover between two, I use FilmConvert a lot for color correction from Cine/Log to Rec.709, other times, I'll use a technical LUT that does the same thing. However, I almost always go back and use FilmConvert to add realistic film grain simulation (and just remove the color correction aspect of it) to add a bit of cinematic grain before exporting!
Depends on your budget, however, in my opinion. The a6500 has 95% of the capabilities you'll want for video (minus Hybrid Log Gamma picture profile, but you don't NEED that), and then spend the extra money on an extra lens to give yourself more creative freedom on shoots. That, and Sigma lenses are super high quality for the price, and they're perfect on Sony APSC bodies!
Currently using Adobe Premiere Pro, however, considering switching to Final Cut Pro X down the line, either program will be all you need! Also watch a bunch of YT tutorials :)
