- The reports are excellent out of Ashburn as the Commanders prepare for the 2024 season. However are some fans and media already running away with their optimism? Lynnell Willingham has crowned himself the most optimistic media member about Washington's season, so it was time to bring some reality to the situation during his Thursday visit.

I think everything can meld together to give us an RG3-type rookie-year playoff push. The offense will surprise a lot of people like Lynell said.
We're all worried about the OL but Jayden's mobility could overcome his sack problem to help them if we put the right guys on the field.
The way Kingsbury put the OL on an island in AZ could work here. Even with the youth and inexperience a Coleman, Stromberg, Biadasz, Daniels, Cosmi lineup would be our best bet IMO, and has the athleticism and agility to stay between Jayden and the pass rush or get downhill and run block. We've got the weapons and the backfield to make it easy on Jayden and he has the explosiveness to steal big plays.
Defensively, Dallas has 1 star, Micah, otherwise DQ and Joe Whitt made that defense what it was. They'll get more pressure here with our IDL & blitzing Luvu and Jamin. DQ maximizes secondary guys most of all and we have a lot of untapped potential there.
Between 8 and 10 wins. Very competitive.

Washington can win a playoff game on the road against the NFC South winner whoever that is. Kirk Cousins, Baker Mayfield, Bryce Young or Derek Carr don’t scare me or anyone in that Washington Commanders building or locker room. Lynell chose the wrong division because he was not prepared for your question or he wanted to get a reaction out of you 😂.Craig please tell me you agree with me on Washington being able to win a playoff game against NFC South on the road?

I’m going for 10 wins. Splits with Cowboys, Eagles and sweep Giants. And get six wins with the rest. Too many vets who came into win.
Lynnell sounds like a politician. He was against JD5 before the draft and now he is all in? Geeze.
Craig you got beat on this one man. Listen we can easily win 10 games. We have a top notch owner, one of the best gms, an incredible coach with incredible coaching staff and we have literally upgraded every position group on our entire squad. 10 wins is definitely possible even more.

I see 7-9 wins this year mainly because of schedule, coaching and roster improvement

CJ threw for over 4,100 yards and missed a game also I believe Justin Herbert threw for over 4,000 as a rookie not to say Jayden’s doing that but I don’t think it’s impossible
The talent level says the Cowboys are the best team in the NFL and they lose to 25 year old Packers teams every year b/c the league is more than just talent.
Craig normally I really like your takes however the top 5 argument doesn’t hold water. Please tell me who is definitely a top 5 player on the Green Bay Packers roster last season? They beat Dallas convincingly in the playoffs. Washington can have a season like Green Bay that had really good chemistry and peaked at the right time on both sides of the ball 🏈
Jenkins received All-Pro votes at LG. Love played at a top 5 level in the second half of the season and they also have a top 6 coach in the league. It’s not a perfect theory, but the GB model with a young, ascending QB certainly would be a good one to follow.

Wasn't the team in the Gibbs era built on a bunch of underrated players (vs top 5 stars)? There is something to be said for a team that works together becoming much stronger than the parts... more recently I also think of the team like the Phoenix Suns and how they underperform despite all the 'talent'.

The lions got a monster in Hutchinson too tho. I agree with both of you. More you than Lynnell but I see some of his points.
lions got top 5 play caller, jahmyr is top 5 most talented, amon ra like top 10, laporta is top 5, penei is jus one of the best lineman in the whole league and their whole oline is jus a top 5 unit in general and that’s jus offense, they are prolly gonna have a top 5 run defense and i like the dbs they drafted we can’t compare us to the lions
also bobby jus isn’t top 5 at his position great run defender but too slow at everything else lmfao

Wagner is maaaaaybe still top 5, but probably not. The Lions have multiple (St. Brown, La Porta, Sewell, and some of their other OL, Hutchinson, etc.). Bucs won a crap division with like 9 wins, so idk why they were mentioned?
