Sounds like something from British Railways during the 1950s and 1960s. Especially when diesel locomotives arrived to work on British Railways but most of the steam locomotive crews dislike the “highly sprung” diesel locomotives whereas the diesel locomotive crews often boasted “how the diesel locomotives are special than steam locomotives”.
A little trivia: The first Thomas video I ever bought was Calling All Engines on DVD. A little after, I got James and the Red Balloon, Percy's Chocolate Crunch, and many others. Sometimes my Dad would come home from work with Chick-Fil-A for us, and sometimes a video or 2. I remember one time he came home with the Thomas videos, "Come Ride The Rails", and "Track Stars".
I know right. I love it when every diesel got what they deserved. But, on the other hand i also found the scene disgraceful in the rev.Awdry point of view, for obvious reasons.
I'm not usually a HiT song guy but I did grow up watching CAE and this is brilliant. I love the slight southern twang you have in your voice sometimes, gives your covers a nice country vibe. Fantastic stuff man.
Thanks man! I’m not sure the ‘southern twang’ is exclusively a country thing though. In rock n roll music there’s sort of an unwritten rule that you sing it in a southern accent. lol. Glad you enjoy dude. Always a fan of your stuff too.
Calling All Engines was a missed opportunity, in my opinion. The songs and story idea was brilliant but then they added those learning segments in which really bugged me when I was younger. We did get to see old favourites like Derek, George and Lady which was a plus I suppose. What I will applaud the creators of the movie for is the completion of the introduction of Emily. She started out as a back-stage character, then her roles were built up and, as time went on, people warmed to her. CAE then eased her nicely into Tidmouth, thus completing the saga. They knew what they were doing - unlike Mattel who just throw a female character in with no build-up whatsoever. Fabulous creation as per alway matey, keep up the great work :)
I also think that it was a missed opportunity to ease in a life lesson of racism honestly because steam engines and diesels but maybe that’s just me… EDIT: I’m also not sure if they did this in the special or not… I don’t think so but I bet if they did it wouldn’t have been that subtle and just shoved down our throats
You know what would have been cool? Instead of trying to disregard TATMR as canon by turning Diesel 10 into a “really useful engine”, maybe the steamies take a dislike towards diesels BECAUSE of Diesel 10’s actions. That way there’s an actual reason for the steamies-diesels plotline and kids could learn a good lesson about prejudice.
Nice! This was the first Thomas special I've seen as a kid and I loved the songs in it, as much as I love the Great Discovery and its songs more! Always a charm to listen to your work!
One of the few HiT era songs that gives a lasting impression, along with together. Man Calling All Engines could've been done even better, crazy man. Great job as usual dude.
This song holds a somewhat special place in my heart as Calling all Engines was one of the first few thomas things I owned. Though now I know(and quite frankly annoyed) its problems like the segments in between, the nostalgia hits hard. Thanks for doing this song well, have a good day dude 👍
Great cover of this song, Headmaster Hastings! You made this song really shine! Can you also do a cover of Busy, Together We Made It Happen, Patience Is A Virtue, Little Engines, Down by the Docks, There once was an engine who ran away, and Every Cloud Has a Silver Lining, please? Your covers are always music to my ears! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Omg! Your voice is like pure magic to my ears! You sing so beautifully! You've taken a song from a rather mediocre Thomas special and made it sound even better! I absolutely love it. 👍 Well done!! 💖 PS, You're also handsome and have gorgeous hair too! 😍💖 I'd love to sing along side of you sometime!! 💖💖
"Trying to do things better." That is so true with every cover you make, and this one is absolutely epic! Also I got an idea for the next Thomas song cover. Not sure how many times you got asked to make a cover of "The Sounds Song," but I thought I'd politely throw that out there in case you decide to cover that one next, or at some point soon. Anyway, bravo Double H (My nickname for you, Headmaster Hastings.), and keep it up! You're so on the track to many Thomas fans' hearts!
One of the catchiest songs of one movie we all despised (almost anybody). Even though I'm not too fond of that one lyric where they included Derek (which isn't kind of a real appearance to me), I still admit it was pretty enjoyable, along with this and the TCC version.
HEY KING YOU DROPPED SOMETHING!!!!!! 👑 Amazing work as always, one of my personal favorite songs from one of my personal favorite Thomas specials growing up. God bless you man, you deserve the world!! I am always hyped when I see you upload, it is amazing, you make something from 2005 sound like an absolute banger in 2021. This is Homer J Dogson, saying, God bless this man and his extraordinary talents!!!
I know people often make fun of Thomas saying it promotes 'racism.' Unfortunately, it was the later seasons of the classic era that started this rivalry of steamies vs diesels. In the RWS the steamies were only trying to show that they could still be useful in an era that was slowly turning to diesel. The engines had no problem with diesels like Boco or Bear who weren't arrogant and accepted the steamies as still really useful.
I know this song, it's from the movie/episode of Thomas and friends called "Calling all engines", I used tho listen to this song a lot times from the movie "Calling all engines" when I was a kid, and loved so much Thomas and friends during my childhood, and right now I'm 18 years old, I'm in high school, I'm smarter and better in learning things from what movies and TV shows I watch, and I still love Thomas and friends and I know everything and everyone from the series.
That was swingin! Really great, I loved how you yelled "Calling all engines!" I actually saw the movie, and during the song I saw the diesel passing Gordon. I looked him up and it was the same diesel from Double Teething Troubles, with Bill and Ben. When I first saw him, I didn't know what his name was. But when I looked him up, I saw his name was Derek. He seems like a friendly diesel. Just like Rusty, Boco, Mavis, and Daisy. Oh and Salty too.
every garageband song I have is a mashup of Headmaster Hastings and the Original song which I tell is the most beautiful cover I've heard Love your song covers Requests/Ideas Job's-a-plenty Down by the Docks Troublesome trucks Togetherness Harold the Helicopter
Awesome cover. The movie, Calling All Engines, has the splendid soundtrack. Besides, I sure do miss the old version of Thomas. You know, the model version of Thomas and his friends. Best cover indeed. 🚂🎼🎵🎶🎙🎸🎹💯👍😁

The songs from Calling All Engines are so good, yet so underrated. This is magnificent!
I agree.
Me too, that movie/episode and the whole series was part of my childhood and I remember and know everything and everyone from the series.

THE best hit era song
I don’t like the hit era but I lov this
This was always one of my favorite songs from Thomas as a little kid. The nostalgia is real. Great cover.
Honestly, I find this much better than the Ed Welch original song. The fact that kids aren’t singing is what makes it work.

Hopefully some Season 7 ones were involved. :)
