I love how you use themes in your journals. And everything inside that reminds you of that theme.
Linen & flannel cover is perfect for Sherlock Holmes. Love the faded British flag on inside cover. And page of postage stamps is very cool. Can't imagine how you found a pipe charm!!! Crazy!! Only YOU would find that!! I loved watching Sherlock Holmes films as a child. And still do now. Great journal. Great job. Thanks for video. Austin,TX USA

This journal is wonderful! I did read all the original stories about 40 years ago in my early teens. I loved Jeremy Brett in the Granada TV show in the 80s. I watched it via the “Mystery “ show on PBS from Seattle. I live in BC. Now I have read all the books set starting in 1915 with Sherlock and his wife Mary Russell.

    Beautiful journal, as usual.
The game is afoot” means “the situation is happening.” It is a hunting metaphor, where “the game” refers to the animal that is being hunted and “afoot” refers to it being on foot, or moving.
The phrase comes from Shakespeare's King Henry IV Part I, 1597: "Before the game is afoot, thou still let'st slip." It is also a phrase used by Sherlock Holmes when pursuing a lead in a case.
It’s a metaphor from hunting, the literal meaning of which is that the prey (“game”) is out of covert and running (“afoot”), and usually implying that it’s time you were up and after it.
Used often by Sherlock Holmes, sometimes with a meaning very close to the literal; sometimes just that his strategy has begun to play out, and he (and Watson) need to get going to follow it through

    This is what Google says:
The phrase comes from Shakespeare's King Henry IV Part I, 1597: "Before the game is afoot, thou still let'st slip." It is also a phrase used by Sherlock Holmes when pursuing a lead in a case.
    This Journal is amazing!

Love this. Love all your journals. You get them so right, if that makes any sense?! 😁 They always feel so thoughtfully made and I always wonder where you get your perfect ephemera and charms! 😄
Yes, 221b Baker Street is a real address in London and does have a blue plaque on the wall. It’s in an ordinary street in a row of houses and if you didn’t know it was there, you would walk straight past it.
I am in the U.K., but not a Londoner.
Love your gentle, quiet videos. ☺️ Thank you for all you share. 🙏😊💝💕

Love this journal, big fan of Sherlock Hilmes. The Postum add you had on one page is actually a drink . It's sold today. My great grandmother got me hooked on it in the 60's. When she turned 100 yrs.old ,a grocery store gave her a case of it. She passed at 109 yrs. I still drink Postum today.

What a perfect journal to honor Sherlock! When I was seventeen, which was over fifty years ago, I spent the summer between high school graduation and starting college reading a book that contained all the collected Holmes short stories and novels. This video makes me want to revisit every one of them. The colors and textures are amazing, and the choice of ephemera and embellishments is spot on. Love it!

... but it is best known as a much-quoted line by Sherlock Holmes, the "consulting detective" of the stories and books written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The only time Holmes actually says the line is in The Adventure of the Abbey Grange: "Come, Watson, come!" he cried. "The game is afoot!"
It's original use was by Shakespeare in King Henry the 4th part 1

Aside from it's use in King Henry IV, the phrase “the game is afoot” is also used in Shakespeare's Henry V, Act 3, Scene 1:
The game is afoot. Follow your spirit and upon this charge - Cry, God for Harry, England and Saint George!
The only time Holmes actually says the line is in The Adventure of the Abbey Grange: "Come, Watson, come!" he cried. "The game is afoot.
