Now only two months later than it should've been. I could make the excuse of saying that NHL Free Agency usually starts in July instead of mid-October (in the middle of a busy time for me), but laziness works here. Despite the lull in hockey content, the season is about to start revving up. Plans are now being formulated for the year, but things will be different. Division realignments are mandatory due to border closures. The season will be shortened to 56-games. There is the potential of payment deferrals due to lost revenues.
However, there was also some movement throughout the offseason (which got rather tricky, in spots, due to the flat cap). Consider this video a sort of refresher to what happened. At least that's what I hope this will be considered as.

He wanted a longterm contract and none was coming. So he took money for now and can test the markets again next offseason - which will almost certainly be more of a buyer's market.
To be fair, New Jersey was slumping hard and no one knew if this would be the devils for the next 2-3 years. And at the time of the trade, the coyotes were a very solid team

I didn't really touch those teams mostly bc they didn't do much in the offseason. Devils moves I mentioned in other segments, Hurricanes didn't do much, and Flyers were pretty quiet.

Re: Mike Smith signing in Edmonton.
As a Edmonton local Smith had a noticeable effect on Koskinen. His glove hand was better this year and his ability to handle the puck was a nice surprise after never seeing it before. Smith is a professional goalie and clearly a good teammate. With little ability to add a starter given Koskinen’s contract, going with a known quantity makes sense considering. Before the league stopped the oilers were playing pretty good hockey and mildly competing with Vegas for the division lead, it’s not shocking to see them falter and not regain their form 4 months after their last game. Obviously lots of holes but Holland’s hands are tied with so little cap flexibility. Bigger issue might be Adam Larson. His cap hit would be nice to get rid of and his roster spot open for a young d prospect to get promoted, however when he was out of the lineup their d was noticeably soft. Can Darnell Nurse develop that next gear and take that spot or will the oilers need to resign him?

I actually really like this offseason for the Habs. Josh Anderson adds that element of strength we simply have not had on our forward corps since a long-ass time. And the contract is basically a fairly educated gamble that last year was essentially just because he was injured to shit, and couldn't do shit because of it. If (and I expect him to) he returns to form, then $5.5M for a guy of his caliber is a massive discount! That'd be huge and make this offseason a massive win right there and then, especially with emerging Kotkaniemi and Suzuki manning the center line.
That's why I see it as a high-risk, high-reward move. If he returns to 2018 form, he'll be good.
It's just if the injury is nagging, it will be an issue.

Seeing how the Dallas stars played during the playoffs and had those amounts of injuries and played a top tier team in the finals. I think they have a shot of making a good run in the playoffs. I’m keeping my hopes that we at least make it and win the finals

@@nicksmith74 For real? They are the first pair of wireless earbuds I ever bought, so I don't have a different pair to compare them against.
That said, the sound quality is just fine- I can't imagine how much it could possibly improve. The case is nice and compact, the design is better than Air Pods, and the battery only needs to be charged once or twice a week (like I said, I use them for hours every day).
I definitely don't I think overpaid, as I have already got their value's worth out of them, but it is possible that there is a better deal out there. What earbud would you recommend?
That Lundqvist clip is very upsetting as a Rangers fan. I seriously hope that when he hangs up the pads he comes back to work in the Rangers organization so he could win a cup that way.

The silence from the Philadelphia Flyers kind of scares me they did some small deals. Nothing happened to patch the festering wound of poor defensive puck handling, and with Matt Niksanen leaving uncertainty. Only time will tell if the prospects fix that issue.
