This video was so exciting to me bc I started doing a $5 & $20 challenge. I plan to count it in August. It'll be 6 months. The fact that you guys did it for 2 years is amazing!
Hi, thank you for your feedback. Actually, I didn't think I can finish this 2 years money saving challenge at the first place since in Canada most people use cards to pay bills. I just slowly collected money from selling stuff on kijiji, lottery ticket money, my weekly pocket money left over.... it was a great challenge. Glad you like my video. Cheers.
lol your comment made me laugh. yes, finally someone from Canada did this money saving challenge. This is one of the main reasons I shared my Canadian saving money experience/ challenge on UA-cam.
Been saving in my tin since 1/5/16 for my 50th birthday which is this year at the rate of £10 a week and £1 every now and then, will be opening that 1 soon, also have another 2 tins for my daughter, 1 is for her car and other is to take her Disney Florida
Wow, your comment encouraged me. I am thinking to do money saving challenge again. Cross my fingers. Thank you for the comment. Have a good weekend and sorry to reply you so late. Cheers.
You: 8099 CAD just from saving Me: 75 CAD in total lol I am feeling so happy for you and thank you for sharing.🙏😀 I'm trying to save up money too. I am from Austria so I only have 75 CAD. I am collecting banknotes from all around the world, or at least I've started doing that a few weeks ago with my first foreign papermoney being Canadian Dollars. They're just so beatiful😍 I don't have that much euros either but it's because I am only 14😁 I hope I'l have that much money from saving some day too. I wish all of you the best and stay healthy❤
Thank you so much for the comment. I think I will do another saving challenge, hope this saving can contribute some to our home purchase down payment. Cheers.
Hi, thanks for the comment. I made a chart to track and motivate myself to do this money saving challenge. The chart helped me a lot from collecting money that saved daily.
i know Im asking the wrong place but does anyone know of a way to get back into an instagram account?? I was stupid lost the password. I love any tips you can offer me!
This was absolutely fantastic. I commend y'all and I hope you put it in a special savings account for a specific purpose. I guess it really proves we do a lot of random or senseless spending....you didn't really miss it and it was $8,000 in 2 yrs.
How can u say yall can never do this again...its a smart idea nd the fact that u never seen this much money in one place...means that its a goal that y'all should set for y'all selves so that you will never have to say those words again
Agree with you. It was fun and also motivated myself to spend money wisely. Thank you for the comment, have a good one. Let me know if you start to do your money saving challenge, too. #Canada #Toronto
That is actually not really a good way to save. Good for them thats still an achievement but your money should be making you more money. Not sitting there losing value because of inflation.
Yeah, it is so hard to save money in Canada, esp in Toronto, living cost is high. I am glad that you are going to do money saving challenge too. It is hard in the beginning but you will get used to it and start to watch how you spend money daily. I also sell stuff I don't use or need on kijiji, then I put into my piggy bank instead of spending it on eating out or buying new clothes. Making a chart to track down your saving helps a lot. Thanks for the comment, have a good one.
I'm started with a piggy bank this year. 😤🙏 I'll be waiting for 2 or more years I started with recycling bottles I collect from my working place, and took out about 100$ from my monthly payments. And my mom's payments as well. Coins in a tinier piggy bank and cash in our biggests.
Yes, we were super happy when we saw all money we saved in 2 years . When I brought all cash to TD bank, the stuff was amazed the saving work I have done for 2 years and he called his colleges over to help him to count money too. Thank you for the comment. Have a good day.
Thank you for the comment. I was a bit disappointed about the amount that I saved too. The original idea was to use my piggy bank cash to pay off the renovation fee for our new house. However, we are still in the process to buy a new house in Toronto yet. Anyway, it was really fun to pull out all cash and also I learned to spend money more wisely. By the way, I sold a lot of stuff that we don't use anymore on kijiji and gained a lot of cash.
Thank you for the comment. It's called "miracle melting snowman" we got it on Amazon. The price seems a bit pricey now. I'll check other onlinr stores. Here is the link. Miracle Melting Snowman a.co/d/cbCfJXR
Finally someone noticed my " Miracle Melting Snowman " . My friends from East coast of Canada introduced it to me. When the snowman melts, it makes me laugh loud. My boyfriend purchased it on Amazon for me after Christmas, only few dollars. Thank you for the comment. Have a good one.
i love this! i’m itching to break mine but i know i shouldn’t 😩 i feel like i should probably put it in a saving account to earn interest but i feel like everyone should hide a stack of cash somewhere
Totally understand your feeling. I waited 2 years to open my piggy bank, didn't participate to open after 2 years, but my piggy bank was full and cant put any cash inside anymore. After the pandemic, I think i will redo my money saving challenge for 3 years. Maybe next money saving challenge can contribute a little bit to our house downpayment in the future.
YEAH! Glad my 2 years money saving challenge inspired you. Remember to make your own piggy bank, and make a chart to track your saving, too. once you start to do money saving challenge, you will spend money more wisely and with caution, too.
I HAVE BEEN MAKING LOSSES TRADING MYSELF...I THOUGHT TRADING ON DEMO ACCOUNT IS JUST LIKE TRADING THE REAL MARKET... CAN ANYONE HELP ME OUT OR AT LEAST ADVICE ME ON WHAT TO DO?
The only bad thing about keeping it in savings like this and not into stocks is that the money is not growing. I have two reals for money 1) Money has to always increase 2) Never lose money
Hi, this is a very good question. In Canada, most ppl have TFSA ( Tax free saving account ) , RRSP ( Registered Retirement Savings Plan). My bank withdraws some money into my TFSA monthly and I authorized them to invest for me. RRSP, I normally buy once a year before tax month and I also authorized my bank to invest for me. This Piggy bank's money is the " physical" money I saved for 2 years. My original purpose was for fun, then after few months, I started to take it serious and made a chart to track my process. I was thinking to use this money to pay for renovation or lawyer fee for my house if i do buy one. Unfortunately, I didn't buy a house in 2019 and my piggy bank was too full to put more money inside, that is why I decided to break it. I don't know how high the saving interest rate in your country, in Canada, the interest rate is very very very low, so no point for me to put money into saving accounts monthly. I rather to control my own spending daily and put the money I saved into the piggy bank. If you are curious, how I used the piggy bank money after breaking it, lol, I bought some stocks and so far they are doing well. I don't make a lot of money but I spend money wisely and I cook my own food a lot instead of eating out daily. Thank you for the comment, hope you have a good one.
Hi, it is a cooking wine container, the capacity is 5 liters. You can use any empty containers at home, save money from buying a piggy bank. Thank you for the comment. take care and stay safe, cheers.
Thank you for the comment. That was fun to see so much cash when I opened the piggy bank. Make your own saving money plan, the way you feel comfortable and then you will harvest your happiness once the time comes.
Hi, it is 1-50 and I redid 7 times, so there were 300 blocks to fill in total. What we did is I put 20 dollars into the piggy bank when we received pay cheques. Monthly our bank withdraws certain amount of money into our TFSA account for investment. If we make extra money from selling household stuff on kijiji or returning bottles/cans to beer store, we put into the piggy bank instead of just spending it. Cheers.

Sorry to say but that is not a good way to save. All that money has depreciated 2-4% because of deflation. Should be in a savings account, preferably a tfsa.
Hi, thank you for your comment. The money in the piggy bank is the physical money I save from my weekly pocket money I can use or something I made from selling stuff on kijiji. I also authorize the bank to withdraw money monthly from my account to do TFSA mutual fund investment, too.
Yes, esp in Canada. I mean, we use cards to pay our bills mostly. Also because we don't see money " physically", that is why we spend money without thinking too much, only feel sorry for ourselves when we pay our credit card bills.
I understand why you asked this question, as many people might think in this way, too. We use credit card to pay most bills, but small amount items we pay it by cash. The idea is to spend less money when we go out, the money we saved, goes into the money bank. Besides, we sell stuff we don't use but stay at home, so we sell it on kijiji. Instead of spend those money, I put it into our money bank. Thanks for your comment.
Honestly.. I miss the point in these video of hanging onto money for years. or possibly decades at a time only to break out the money and show it off.. Here is a better idea.. open CDs and have the quarterly interest payments going directly to savings..I myself am working (15 missing steps) on a 60 step CD ladder.. FYI... CDs... depending on the length can earn from 4-30 times more than what typical savings will.. and if you hunt some institutions will let you open a CD for as little as $100.. You are committing to keeping the money in a jar for many months right??? Why not a bank ACTUALLY earning something???
Hi, living in #Toronto #Canada is not cheap at all. 8000 is the " physical" money we saved in 2 years. Most Canadians pay bills by debit or credit if you are aware. We are talking about 8000 Canadian dollars not 8000 Japanese Yen. Besides, the points are not how much money we saved, it is to spend money wisely and also not to buy things impulsively.
