This lift was originally built in 2005 as part of the Spanish Peaks private club. It went bankrupt in 2010 and after being closed for 2 seasons was absorbed into Big Sky in 2012. It was the same as the high-speed quads at The Yellowstone Club, which also have a bubble on every other chair. In 2021, the lift was repainted to match other lifts at Big Sky, and the chairs were replaced. Also, there are twice as many chairs on the lift now as there were before. Capacity was originally 800 per hour and is now 1600. This was done due to the new hotel built at the base of the lift.
last season yellowstone ran bubbles on every other chair on pioneer lift and on 4 out of every 5 on lake lift (i believe american spirit ran 4/5 as well, but i do not remember) i do find it odd though, considering that pioneer is the main lift. also very weirdly, the service road at the top of lewis and clark and sacajawea is accessed through a residential street within yc. another fun fact: i’m fairly sure that the high speed lifts at yc were purchased from a swiss resort
Nice, I went to Big Sky just before you guys went in early March and this lift was an absolute blast! I agree that the Spanish Peak part of Big Sky is a bit secluded, but the Lewis & Clark lift is one of the best; an entire bubble chair to all to yourself.
They didn't just replace the bubbles. They replaced the chairs entirely and added more of them to increase capacity. Compare this video from before the upgrade: ua-cam.com/video/4aGCL_4AnF0/v-deo.html To after: ua-cam.com/video/PrvqADP--Ug/v-deo.html
Never been there, but it looks like it only serves beginner runs or moves Spanish Peaks people to other parts of the mountain. May be busier at the beginning/end of days. Couldn't tell if there was a parking lot there from the trail map. That would maybe catch overflow on busier days and increase traffic? Not sure why you'd be surprised by SP logos since that's the village at the base of the lift.
I'm not sure how much it matters since the only traffic on this lift will be hotel traffic. There isn't enough terrain to really even bother coming over here otherwise. It also doesn't help that it's east facing and low elevation, so the snow is usually subpar.

2:37 interesting way to get down the trail lmfao
I noticed this change. This is on Lewis & Clark Express. All of the chairs having bubbles is definitely a upgrade.
