2015 Honda Odyssey Belt Molding, Window Trim Removal and Installation

- The Honda Odyssey rubber strips at the window seem to rot and begin to break away. I saved a ton of money changing these "belt moldings" myself. The job is easy and can be done in any driveway in 30 minutes.
The part numbers for my 2015 are
72410-TK8-A11 Molding Assembly, R Front Door $41.43
72450-TK8-A11 Molding Assembly, L Front Door $41.43
72950-TK8-A01 Molding Assembly, L Slide Door $59.35
72910-TK8-A01 Molding Assembly, R Slide Door $59.35
I ordered these from hondaautomotiveparts.com but there are many OEM honda parts stores, and the prices change at each store often.
Thank you! I was able to replace this in my wife’s car even though she had no confidence I could. We showed her, didn’t we!
You are a saint sir, Thank you for taking the time to make this video for us.
My pleasure. Happy it was helpful to you
i've just replaced all 4 belt molding follow your video. It took me about less than 2 hours to finish all 4 doors. Thank you very much.
That's great!
Great video! I just replaced mine last week. Was able to do the front doors without having to remove the mirrors or door panels 👍🏼
Thank you for posting this. The dealership wanted over $800 to replace these. Made is sound like it was a monumental project.
Oof 800 dollars! What a cash cow for the dealer.
They want 1500$ for my 2016 odyssey as of 11/2023! And here I am searching for how-to’s. 😂
So well done. Thank you for this informative and money saving video. I have the same year model. Oddly, the mirrors are shedding paint and also need attention. Also the arm rest vinyl is shot. I have ordered new covers for them. DIY can be so satisfying when it goes well!
GREAT video.. Just completed mine. Thank you for the post! A couple of notes..
1) 2016 doesn't have the "extra" nut on the passenger side, at least mine didn't.
2) It's SO stressful pulling the old moldings off, it sounds awful but everything will be ok.
3) Stubborn me, I didn't want to take the door panel off for 1 nut. SO with a pen magnet, and the tension of the door panel itself, you can literally "pull it off". Slightly pull the corner near the lowest nut, get a 10mm wrench in there to break it loose. THEN thread it off towards the end, ( it is tapered, so don't go crazy pushing your luck) then add the magnet and thread by hand the rest of the way. The tension of the panel in conjunction with the magnet CAN keep it from falling off completely. Same thing in reverse, with the magnet, maneuver it over the taper while pulling on that corner, once over the taper, you can catch a couple of threads, remove the magnet, THEN thread away. Pull the corner for a little more clearance and torque it down...
4) At the time of writing this, Honda has the fronts on a "unknown time frame Backorder". Found mine on eBay, a few more dollars, but hey!
IF the nut falls down, you were going to take the door panel off anyways before seeing this comment! It's an easy fix, and gets rid of the dry rot moldings!
Thank you again sir!
Seems Honda has parts for Odysseys on backorder all the time!! I actually searched Honda dealers country wide to find mine. Ordered from 3 different places to get them all!!! Cost me nearly $200 for all, but at least I got them. SOMEWHERE, a dealer MAY have them on a shelf...now, if I could only find some rear coil springs. noone in the USA has them right now.
Pa que tanto pinche pedo, sin pensarla es mejor desarmar por detrás, para que experimento con el riesgo de que se me caiga la tuerca y tener que desarmar de todos modos... El flojo trabaja doble.
@@Daniel-no1fm only had to do it one stooge! Guess there is ALWAYS one in the comment section, and here YOU are!

Thanks for going to the effort to share this. Your info is good for all Oddy's in the 2011 through 2017 range. Removing the front door panels isn't too hard and definitely makes dealing with the mirrors much easier. It's old trim is pretty tough to get out so non-scratch tools are handy. The black tabs on the ends of the new trim pieces make sure everything is lined up correctly on the door so there's little worry about it being put on badly. I also took advantage of the door panels being off to replace the door armrest covers as well.
Here's an extra note about removing the mirrors. That very top nut (where the bolt hole is not fully enclosed) doesn't have to be removed. I don't know what it holds, but it's not the mirror. The mirror only needs to bottom three removed (or so it was in my case on a 2011).
This video should be available to help others for at least another decade. Kudos.
Best video I have seen so far doing this. Have already done the sliding doors which was so satisfying seeing them new again!!! Today, here in rainy Washington, I will go out and do the front doors. i needed a refresher on removing the panels and yours is absolutely the best I have watched. Thank you for all description, and for not playing crap music!!!
Thanks for providing part numbers
Getting ready to do this on my '13 Touring; even my upper ones are shot. South Florida weather is brutal on any black exterior part. Even my roof rack needs touch-up. Great video, thank you sir.
You’re the man. Saved me at least 500 by doing it myself
That’s the way🎉
Thanks for the video. Just replaced sliding door molding now I need to watch this video few more times to replace the front doors
Thanks Jay! You saved me from some damage and headaches. I was planning to go in blind with all guns blazing.
One of the best car diy videos ever! Brilliant!
Outstanding detail in this video! Successfully fixed all 4 doors and they came out great!
That’s great! I’m so happy it helped.
thank you 🙏. This is exactly what i needed to know how, the parts, and the link to where to buy.
This video is perfect and everything I needed, Thank you SO much, this is saving me hundreds!
My pleasure. Happy it helped you.
I just ordered from the site listed by the creator - and there is a 10% off coupon on the site he (and now I) ordered from right now that you can copy from the home page. It requires a $200 minimum and this just breaks that minimum. I will reply here on quality once I get them. Thanks for this video!
Thanks for doing this and especially for putting the part numbers!
Great Video. I've been putting off doing this on our 2016 Odyssey. Until now. great video!
Glad it’s helpful.
When I removed the bottom nut I used a magnet to hold it and did not lose it. When you put it back on you will have to pry the side of the door panel a bit and again use the magnet. I bought four M6 x 1.0 flanged nuts just in case but did not need them.
BLESS YOU!! I'm going to give it a go on my Odyssey!
Right on cue. My four trim parts just came in from hondapartsnow site. I even have the same year Odyssey. Wow. Thanks for the confidence boost!
Glad this was helpful!!
Hell yea!!!!! Thank you SO much! Just ordered mine!
Thank you for showing us how to do this. I also have door panel that doesn't look very good. I may replace it too! (I bought the Van used)
Thank you very much. I've been looking for this for a long time since I don't know what part number for these belt moding.
Look at the commenter below. I listed the part numbers in there
Just did my 2015 Odyssey passenger door. There's another video on UA-cam where the person carefully slides the molding under the mirror and doesn't remove anything inside the car. My molding had an end cap and clip, where as his didn't, so mine couldn't be slid under the mirror. I don't know if he removed those parts or if it was an after market molding. On my car, I did NOT remove the interior of the door. I removed the plastic cover inside the car behind the mirror and carefully using a small 10 mm wrench and a MAGNET was able to remove the bottom nut. It took a couple of minutes. I used the magnet on the other nuts as well, as I didn't want them falling inside the door. Supporting the mirror loosely with a bungee cord I was easily able to get the molding in place. Once I had the molding lined up, it practically installed itself with a little pressure. Getting the bottom nut back on with the magnet and one finger was a bit more challenging, but I managed to get it done quickly. Molding looks great! Window and mirror are working fine. By the way, there's are belt molding removal tool out there for those who might want to remove the molding intact, that does require removing the interior of the door I do believe.
Send me the link for another video
Excellent job explaining the process.
Good video, thanks. My son in law needs to do this to my daughters 2014.
Jay, I owe you a beer.... maybe two. Thank you.
I don’t drink, but I appreciate the sentiment! Glad the video was helpful
You did Really good congratulations
I noticed you only did the doors, what about the rubber on the rear quarter panel? Same procedure or more difficult?
This video is very well done. Thanks a ton
Fantastic! This is a job I have been wondering about for awhile now... Now I know it can be done! Can't wait to tackle my 2015 Odyssey. Oh, and the paint on my mirrors peeled too. I was wondering about maybe doing something fun like a vinyl wrap, or is there a better solution? Thanks again!!!
Love that. Glad I was able to help in at least a small way. Ya know, a wrap on the mirrors might work. I considered changing the housing, but frankly, I can’t see any reason to…
Thank you for the video! I’ll be doing this! Paint looks incredible! Mine looks horrible. Can you share process on rejuvenating mine?
Thanks! It was a lot of hassle to work on the paint. I washed really well first with a foam canon and Adams car wash shampoo. Then I used a DE-Iron spray, like Iron-X or any of the iron sprays. The stuff is nasty, follow the instructions. Then I used a clay bar really well. Then I pulled into the garage on a cool day and I used Meguiar's Ultimate Compound, then Meguiar's Polish. And my favorite spray wax of all time - Duragloss Aquawax 951. I also used Mission Automotive Dielectric grease / silicone paste on all of the seals around the doors. It's easy to do and makes the seals supple and like new. Amazing stuff. Next I'll be changing the door checkers... the part that holds the door open and keeps it it from closing in your face. Both doors are worn out.
@@plasma800 THANKS SO MUCH! Looks like I have my work cut out for me.
@@Sle267 It for sure takes a bit of elbow power. A quality roll around shop seat if your best friend here. I used very inexpensive terry cloth pads from my local autozone, and the threw them away use.
@@plasma800thanks for the video, got the belt molding done, no problem & no need to remove door panel.
Thank you for this video and the product listing for how you brought your car paint back to life. Any tips and tricks for chipped paint? We can’t afford to repaint the minivan but if there is a good diy option for slowing the degradation for as long as possible I am all ears.
Great explanation! Have you attempted the seal at the bottom of rear glass?
I have not.
Great video! thanks for making it.
My pleasure. Hope it was helpful
Thank you very much for the video!
Love the video! Thank you! Do you happen to have the part numbers for these?
In the description. You may need to look on eBay for them
Thanks for this video! I have a question in case you or someone else might know. So the exterior trim is called belt molding? What do you call the interior molding? I'm not sure I can find it on that website you referenced. Either way, thanks for taking the time.
Unsure but I think it’s called a window wiper. Ask on odyclub.com. Very knowledgeable people there.
Thank you for the demonstration.
I had hair the black weather tripping part come out on one window. Should I glue it back in place for now. Do I really need to replace the whole part?
@@stealthrabbi9064 I’m not sure what would be best here without seeing it.
Great instructional video... thanks!
Thank you so much! I just ordered the moldings and this is going to be one of my first DYI projects.Hopefully I don’t screw anything up…
Removing the door panels is my biggest concern, but hopefully I don’t break them
The door panels remove very easily. Just look for the notch at the bottom of the panel by the light. That's the spot.
Have you done the rear window trim before? Any tips?
I understand why you loosened the mirror, but why did you remove the inside full door panels as well?
It’s almost impossible to remove the mirror without pulling the panel. Technically you could reach the bottom mirror bolt with some great fineness but it’s likely it will be dropped … causing the panel removal anyway
would it make more sense to open window first to reduce tension window is adding to seal and molding ?
There is no tension the window produces.
Does the rear quarter trim come out the same way?
I would think so, but I haven't done it.
So appreciate the instruction!
Hey I know this is an older video but my 2011 has done the same thing,, can you tell me were you got your new strips... It might have been in your comments somewhere but I didn't see it,,, thx
Check the video description
Thank you, great Video!!
Hi Jay! Hey, on the door weathstripping having just a slot at the front of them instead of a big black clip, do you think the weatherstripping could be horizontally pulled from the rear of the weatherstripping to remove? I saw something similar on an Accord youtube video. If that doesn't work, can the mirror be loosened and just dangle from the 2 longer bolts to give enough room? I was wondering why 2 of 3 mirror bolts are longer. Thanks!
I don’t think it will work that way like it does on the accord. As to the mirror, it’s worth a try but it doesn’t seem it would save much in labor. I believe you would still need to loosen the lower bolt
My moldings on my Odyssey need replacing too. I need these 4 and also the 2 rear side window moldings. Any idea the part number on them?
They are in the description
Would I find these in the junk yard
Have you done one on the rear hatch? Mine is needing replacement we have the part.
I have not
Great video - thank you!
Wow, the front doors are a total pain to replace compared to the sliding doors.
Awesome information!!!
Have a part number or solid link to order these parts? Having issues finding it.
I’ve heard some remark these parts are hard to find now. Part numbers are in the description of the video. I’d check all the main Honda parts online stores and eBay.
great info thanks for sharing.
The front L door molding is unavailable anywhere these days. The status was backordered and TBD. Anyone know alternative parts? maybe from other model years or from other honda models (i.e. honda accord)
Don't try another vehicle. An Odessey body is not an Accord body.
I kept searching honda OEM part dealers until I finally found the part. Probably 20th site on a Google search.
Does anyone know where to purchase the black vinyl to wrap these? I don't like the chrome look.
I bought 3M black vinyl on Amazon and wrapped mine. They came out great! Much better than the chrome look. And the vinyl has held up really well! Just be sure to get the 3M “series 1080, wrap film”. That’s the GOOD stuff!
I wrapped all the chrome on the front grill too 👍🏼
Can you tell me which site you got the parts from?
Hondaautomotiveparts.com. They are sold through many online parts dealers like honda parts now and Honda parts online. I would ship them all and see who has the best price once combined with shipping.
Hi can you please share the part numbers for each molding thanks

Where can I get those molding by any chance?
Check the video description. There are many official sellers online. Like Hondapartsnow.com and such
@@plasma800 Thank you so much and it really works.
Seems to be out of stock. Anyone else have any luck with finding these parts?
I tried this on my 2014 odyssey and the thin layer of painters tape removed all the paint from the top side of the door. Do not use a lightly applied strip of painting tape!!!
Is your van White?
Yeah, it’s white van. I had to apply primer, paint, and new clear coat.
I knew white vans have known paint issues, but I never would have thought painters tape would be enough to take up paint. There is a long standing feud over peeling Honda white paint.
A little harder than what you see in this video almost broke the stupid pry tool
