Like with a small child, a lot of repetition and when he does say a word or phrase, repeating it so he can get the pronunciation perfected. You can use treats to reward but we don’t. Some words or sounds they will pick up on their own because they like the sound. Bandit barks exactly like our neighbour’s dog. Someone told me about their friend who had a grey and he would leave the TV on for his bird to learn to talk but it never did. It’s because the interaction is important. We spend a lot of time with Bandit. He’s always on his play stand and with us. He’s only in his cage when we’re sleeping or out. If you spend the time, greys are amazing birds. They don’t just say the words, they understand them. You pull out a bottle of water and they say “water”. They can talk in a specific person’s voice. Bandit is young and just starting to talk. He will learn lots more in the future.
