Serge Gainsbourg is one of our musical genius. This is a concept album about a girl called Melody Nelson. On this track he played the rôle of a man who accidentaly hurt the young Melody cycling with his car. The encounter of the 2 protagonists. Jane Birkin is Melody Nelson.
Thank you Tre. Serge Gainsbourg whole discography is a goldmine. Jane Birkin put the Teddy bear on the cover of this album in Serge's coffin when he was buried.
A masterpiece. He's not trying to be seductive. He's just telling a story. And the music sounds like a perfect soundtrack for the movie you imagine as you listen the story. You feel like driving drunk the Rolls Royce in the smoggy London with a psychedelic rock in your head
The story: he’s driving a Rolls Royce in the UK on a foggy night, he’s not focusing on the road, lost that he is in his inner thoughts, and collides with a youngster riding her bike: Melody Nelson.
Written by Gainsbourg but arranged (and possibly produced? I'm not sure) by Jean-claude Vannier. Vannier also made some amazing psychedelic/experimental music on his solo albums and last year he made a collaborative album with Mike Patton. I thought you might find it interesting.

There is another track at the end of the album called Cargo Culte very similar to this one, which I may actually prefer.
Chef d ouevre absolue
I think I was the only one that sent Tre a Serge track, until now.
Great request Sir.
I suggest you react to a song from is other concept album "L'homme à tête de chou". The song is : variations sur Marilou
