Giant Bald Eagle kite - first flight

- My 980th kite video. This is an excellent kite, which flies easily and looks superb. One or two construction points could be improved on, but it's a kite that I'm happy to have bought.

A very impressive kite Jim. Very realistic. You are certainly making up for the spell of bad weather you had, with all the recent videos. Keep up the good work!
The bad weather is still very much in evidence, Hal, unfortunately. I haven't flown much at all in recent weeks, but when I do, I try to make several videos that I can then upload at intervals. This and two others were made on the same day. It's the worst spell of weather here for a long time, and usually our autumn is quite pleasant.
That's one realistic looking bird. Very nice!
I would have thought there'd be more of these around, Nigel, but they don't seem to sell in big numbers, even in America. We've had a lot of bad weather here recently, but I'm hoping to fly this weekend. I guess your English spring is really in full swing now.
That is one very impressive KIte Jim. What a great flier it is.
It's very good, Graham, and I wonder why I didn't get one earlier. Tony has had one for several years but seldom flies it.
A wonderful first video of this impressive kite. You picked a a lovely peice of music to accompany the soaring eagle. This kite is worthy of showing again in a future video. Maybe have a collection of your bird kites together.
I'm sure the Eagle will appear again soon, Carl.
I actually bought this kite late last summer. I haven't flown it yet. This is enough to get me to finally take it out, plus the weather is finally getting nice out. For those that don't know, this thing is HUGE..full size bird with a 9 foot plus wing span. I put it together in my living room just to see how it goes together...WOW!
Fly it!!!! A kite like this (or any kite) deserves to be in the air, not sitting in a closet or wherever. You will enjoy it, I'm sure.
Oh, I will. I got it late last fall, then it got cold.
I saw another video of this premier kite that not a "kite" that was like a kite remote control plane. What you do Jim is the best way to epresenting this bird in the sky,its looking like a giant magnificent eagle is soaring in the sky finding it's prey.
I don't like things like that with motors - a line to fly them on is enough for me.
So graceful, looks very realistic despite the kite line. Much bigger than it looks too.
Premier make a motorised version of this, David, if you wanted to do away with the line, but I think the line is less intrusive than a motor and propeller - cheaper, too!
I've seen those motorised versions. I'm more of a purest and prefer the motor-less gliders.
A great sight in the sky seems like a good flyer.
Yes, I was impressed with its performance on the first flight, and look forward to flying it again when our persistent rain goes away.
Best Bald Eagle that I have seen in UA-cam .......!
Looks PERFECT to me .....
But price ...... oh well .....
Available at ITW - Into The Wind
Cheers !
Yes, expensive, although you might find it slightly cheaper than ITW's price elsewhere. But certainly a nice kite to have.
Jim, I was essentially given one of these today from a fellow kiter. With all the nose dives it took over the years the rod holder and wires broke through the forehead and the beak. Will see if I can fix. Great shape otherwise.
That's the weak point on that kite, Michael. Even with careful handling it usually ends up needing repair. I'm sure you'll have fun with it.
This is the future. You said you would fly it again, have you ?!! 2020. Excellent plan to receive my late winter 4 spring. Tanks.
It's been a while since it flew. I'll try to get it into the air soon.
That certainly looks realistic in the air, In the last video a dog walker was scaring the White Fronted Terns, i guess they didn't like that Bird of Prey overhead either. Some bird breeders refer to the wingtip feathers as pinions, The pinion is actually the outermost joint in the wing bone structure, Bird watchers and Avian Scientist call those feathers Primary Feathers. Perhaps the tension needs to be adjusted on that wingtip though it doesn't seem to affect the way it flies so might be better to leave well alone, a lesson i fail to learn all too often.
I kept it well away from the resting or feeding birds, Ian, but when some birds flew close, they didn't seem to mind the Eagle at all. I have seen a lot more reaction to some other kites. I think I'll avoid adjusting anything if possible. As you infer, it doesn't always pay to fiddle, and it flies so well that I should probably just leave it.
Hallo Jim very nice Giant Bald Eagle kite.
Have you also fly the Eagle by Radio Controle and E-motor , with no wind ?
When the breeze is 2 a 3 Bft in Holland , I prefer the line.
Greeting R Rn
No, I haven't tried the motorised, radio-controlled version. I'm not very good at technology, especially these days when I'm getting so old, and a single-line, unmotorised kite is about all I can handle.
wow, wat een mooie adelaar is dat. Ik denk deze is heel duur. stay safe
It's not cheap, Henk, but it's good value, I think. www.pictureprettykites.com/single-line-kites/giant-bald-eagle/ .
@@JimNicholls thanks for these link,
It's verry beautiful eagle kite thank You.
I'm happy that you like it.
Fantastic kite, Jim. I know you will have many pleasant flies with this stable flier..
(And God bless America..!.)
I'm hoping to fly it again this weekend, Priscilla, but the weather is so changeable it may not happen.
We are going from 70 to 30 to 50 and winds are crazy! Steadiest breezes come at night. I may have to rig up some lights on my delta..:)
Where did you get that awesome kite, or did you make it from scratch?
It came from here: www.pictureprettykites.com/single-line-kites/giant-bald-eagle/ .
Very nice looking kite from Premiere. One of our members, several years ago, flew an Eagle kite in one of our favorite places. He had forgotten that the acreage next to our flying field was also a seagull rookery. Needless to say that kite was harassed the entire time it was up in the air.
The seagulls here didn't seem to mind, but as they're not nesting I guess they're less sensitive.
Where can I buy this nice eagle Kites? Almost all videos on my channel contain my own homemade eagle Kite,Made of bamboo.but my eagle Kite is not as good as in your video....
I really really like it
It's certainly a good kite, but quite expensive. Mine came from here: www.pictureprettykites.com/single-line-kites/giant-bald-eagle/ .
@@JimNicholls yes...thanks
You are welcome.
@@JimNicholls I want to ask whether the wing frame is flexible or rigid?
@@hanafifumi It's rigid.
*VERY. NICE. KITE.*
But it's also a April 1st video.!/?""""****
It's no joke.
I'm gonna trick people with my eagle kite
They are going to say
Wow an eagle!
Have fun!
I want one lol
It's a very good kite, but it doesn't seem to be available at the moment.
BTW, the pinions? That's obvious. The Eagle isn't a "southpaw", it's right-winged.
