- Some thoughts and observations on the quality and features of some common replacement jewel cases for CD's

Hello! Thanks for making this video.
Of the 3 brands you mention:
Which of them has the thickest cases?
I ask this, because a year ago I bought some KEYIN brand cases on Amazon, and they are flimsy, they are not thick like the cases of the disks that I buy at the best buy or Walmart.
Which of the 3 brands you mention has the thickest and most resistant cases?
Greetings!
I know what you are talking about. I have gotten some flimsy cases in the past. None of these 3 brands are low quality. I would use any of them. They all have a good feel to them.
But I can catalog the weight for you
Original 80's CD case from U2 Joshua Tree: 83 grams
Case from 2012 Passion Pit album: 70 grams
Sleevecity (with no CDDA logo): 65 grams
U-line: 63 grams
Checkout Store: 63 grams
Cases with interior trayliner removed, just the clear outer plastic parts
Original 80's case: 55 grams
Sleevecity: 44 grams
U-Line: 43 grams
Checkout Store: 44 grams
So you can see those 80's CD cases were just a whole other league of quality. I wish I could find those, but I haven't. Maybe I need to learn to polish them.
@@betteranimevgmsoundtrackri4025 Hello! Hope you are well!
I am immensely grateful for the information you just shared with me.
With that data I already have an idea of what cases I need to replace my broken cases.
Thank you again!
Since you didn't really mention it, I will say that the Uline cases while better than the retail store or amazon cases, they still feel noticeably cheap and flimsy compared to the real thing. They are probably only 60-70% the weight of the real deal. I also had issues with them where they would sometimes be hard to open when you wanted them to open, and fall open for no reason when you didn't want them to.
You are right. There is a very physical difference between modern jewel cases and ones of the great 80's and 90's.
I have an update with a new case that is actually heavier than even the old school cases. ua-cam.com/video/ruAja9iC1fg/v-deo.html
