7:26 She's really talking about herself and her experiences. Ever song and every album of hers is 100% autobiographical, she said so herself. She also writes all her own songs. imo, one of the greatest songwriters.
Ok so since u say leads me to my second question cause I forgot to ask it while recording. So each song travels with her and her experiences as she gets older
she had a pretty rough and dark past, she lived on a trailer park, had abusive boyfriends, drugs... she always sings about her personal experience and i love that
my fav music video of all time ty for appreciating it ! next i'd recommend either "shades of cool" or "national anthem" music videos !!! She's a real poet and that's what make her words cinematic. She says her songs are all autobiographical. She's not trying to make a point of "i was a hoe" but instead ab how she uses escapism to cope through her issues in life. She had rough times and found safety in other people's kindness and that's all the hope she had at that time to feel loved and "happy". What i love ab her is her rawness and genuine soul through all the art she makes, no matter what other ppl will think ab her.
Ofc guys took advantage of her in a vulnerable state, these coping methods aren't helpful but she had nothing else to lose here yk. idk if im describing it right but tryna give u a girls perspective on this. A lot of ppl who u might perceive as a hoe r ppl going thru shit/depressed.
Lana’s one of those very few artists who has legitimately influenced a generation of people around the world. She may not have the biggest numbers out there in comparison to other big names, but her music hits so, so deeply. It awakens feelings of yearning to know something greater in life, to comprehend something that not everyone can see the beauty in or understand why it’s worth comprehending in the first place, but she doesn’t make it sound so glorious and heroic. She glamourises the hardships of it. Makes the pain sound beautiful and worth feeling. Lana doesn’t make music just for the sake of music. She doesn’t write just for the sake of writing. She does this shit like she was born to do it, like it’s her only calling in life. That’s why there is no one like her and so many artists take heavy inspiration from her. She is her own genre.
Lana's story could easily become a film, she has a lot to tell and has been through a lot, I think that's why her songs are so immersive, it kind of touches the soul because she writes with her soul, with this most recent album Hers was where she opened her heart to anyone who wanted to listen, her reactions to Lana are great especially for her comments.❤
I love all of her songs. I walked down the aisle to her cover of "once Upon a Dream" that they used for Maleficent. And our first dance ended up being scrapped but the song was going to be "Religion" by LDR. Not as many people recommend it but it fit our life pretty good.
RIDE is my favorite song and video of all time, hands down. A truly masterpiece in very sense… lyrics, vocals, artistic, deep, unique and simply magnificent. I still get chills every single time 🙌🏻
I'm so happy you, did Ride. I rlly enjoy hearing smart ppl like u approaching lana, cause she brings up themes that a lot of ppl are aware of but not fully ready to discuss. Growing up gay, junkie and unhinged led me to have difficulties to draw the line between having fun with ppl and being sexually 4bused, between internalized shame and actually worrying about putting myself in danger. Listening to lana has always been a reminder that it is good to look inside myself without fear of finding shades and darkness, that it is possible to seek beauty through pain and find it in our weakness, that pain can be a hard path to a greater complexity of thought and sensibility and that the important thing is to always search for psychological freedom, to "create a world in which you are in touch with your darkest phantasies and you can fully experience them". I really recommend you to enjoy the Lana journey all the way, cause you can see how she grows as an artist and see how her work is a profound reflexion on life, death, mourning, love, family, luck, desire. I recommend you to listen to Ultraviolence next. Sorry for the long comment, Ride got me into oversharing-mode.
Explain please, I never understood why ppl related Lana to daddy issues bc she LOVESSS her dad and in multiple songs she has said how much she appreciates him. On the other hand, she doesn't get along with her mother, she has some serious mommy issues
@@bestlanista9678I agree I got both mom and daddy issues but I think the reason more is because she has relationships with men that are bad for her and she does speak how her father didn’t help her with her mom. So maybe a love hate relationship with the dad idk
My good sir you should really start at her beginning album born to die the paradise edition and go in chronological order but there's a lot of hip-hop influenced beats it's amazing and the next 2 are my ultimate favorites as well.
Somebody needs to come on here and say, "I hate that video." That will be me. The audio was out for a week, and Ride the song grew on me and lifted me to the Heavens, until the video came out and BOOM! Down to the gutter.
Do born to die she’s dressed as the high priests! No not only celebrities, truck drivers, people who go on tours in marketing who constantly travel experience the same, constantly traveling
I know your dive into Lana is just starting but another beautiful soul you've got to look into is Kali Uchis. Just keep that name on the back burner for a bit and check her out when you feel ready.

@@UglyaceEnt yes, essentially. Its not always a straight progression tho, she does sometimes put out songs which she wrote years ago
@@UglyaceEnt try to react to A&W. It is another song about her life, and about what she lives/lived. Also about women in general. Thanks

I love Lana, she makes ART🤌. We need more reactions of her 🙌.

Hear hear
She’s a poet
Phenomenal, I will never understand why she didn't get a grammy for this.

It’s her life she’s talking about her life on the road on tours, I can relate! You right
She is very cinematic and her poetry is a big part of that❤
This masterpiece lives rent free in my mind forever ♾️

I cried the first time I experienced this masterpiece

Summertime sadness is my favorite song of hers. It’s such a beautiful song.

It's impossible to listen to, much less watch Lana and not fall into an epic love with her. This song, especially.
You can love both Billie and Lana, they are their own artists, very different really! Big fan of both! Billie was a huge Lana fan
