Sutherland, and proud. My great, great, great, great grandfather, Donald Sutherland, came to Canada from Scotland in 1812, as a member of the British Army, the Blackwatch. After the war, he was offered land in the British colony of Rupert's Land, which is now the Canadian provinces of Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Although we're 200 years removed from our ancestral homeland, we'll never forget where we came from.
My great grandfather is a Sutherland and my grandmother as well. My grandfather was a well known baker in the city and my grandmother was a phenomenal cook. I am blessed to be able to bake and cook. I can bake breads, beautiful cakes like him. However I can make beautiful dinners from scratch like my grandmother. So glad to be apart of the Sutherland clan.
I had a cousin, Brenda Jo Sutherland. Born in Arkansas. Her father was Luther Sutherland. She is now deceased. She was raised by the Pritchett family, Melva Threlkeld and Dan Pritchett. Melva is still living, aged 96.
Sutherland, and proud.
