no not Indian...pahadi Indian music is different..nepali people along with garhwali, kumaoni, himachali etc come under the umbrella term- pahadi ..indians call us pahadi and yes we are between tibetan and northern Indian culture

As a resident of niti-mana valley uttarakhand , we have little relation to tibet as we used to trade with tibet before indo china war in 1962.....having somewhat similar language and therefore able to understand tibetan but Indian governments didn't focus on us and imposed hindi and we are left with dying culture
