I just discovered Hamzy and have been binge-watching her videos for a week. As so many have said, she's doing just great and her authenticity seems to click with so many, me included. But also I noticed many Korean viewers being overly sensitive about whether she was eating sponsored food and, if so, why they weren't marked clearly. Although they were, apparently not 'shouting in the face' enough for them. First I found those comments irrelevant and, digging further, confirmed my suspicion that they were coming only from Koreans. To give my personal opinion first, it is none of anyone's business. Neither do I work for UA-cam having to filter out those "dishonest" UA-camrs, nor am I the paying sponsor for her to help sell my product more. I'm here only to watch her content and feel joy. I keep watching what I like and stop when I don't, and move onto something else. Yet, how preachy and absurd those Korean viewers are regarding that issue, it made me cringe as a fellow Korean. Even after Hamzy realised how she was expected to 'do right by those Koreans', apologised and explained in her "community" section, apparently they would still impose an unspoken period of 'contrition and atonement' by pausing video uploads, and "no money earned" for her. (BTW, they seem to equate the length of absence on UA-cam = level of atonement done.) Having lived abroad for 25 years and seen many cultures and their people, I think I can tap into this phenomenon a bit. This is a Korean-specific problem and they would need to break it off, if they want to become global citizens. All Koreans are born into and grow up in this culture of emphasising morality, ethics and group value, as opposed to an individualism. This acts as a driving force in times of serious crises - like the 1997 IMF crisis and this pandemic. However, on the flip side, and also for their lack of personal boundary and respect for others, almost all Koreans feel entitled to preach around other people with each own standard of 'how one should live and carry oneself', even when they are not their own little kids. This attitude multiplies toward public figures. And as seen on this platform, a great deal of Koreans conform to that mindset and social pressure with little effort to act differently or observe others around the globe, Just because one watches her videos, that doesn't entitle them to police around how she should manage her channel, content, presentation and her business for that matter. They don't own a stake in her business, thus they don't have a right to interfere with how she should grow it to a success. Remember, she's got a lot of international viewers, too, that she needs to cater to. A troll even made a video in which he criticised her "preferential captioning" that, according to him, further deepens her "manipulative motive". It doesn't look to me that the stuff she comments in Korean only need to be also put in other languages because they mostly concern Koreans only. And Hamzy also mentioned, although she commissions for caption translations in at least 6 different languages for her international viewers, these jobs take too long for her upload frequency. I personally find that this effort of hers alone illustrates her professionalism on this platform. Why should the viewers, not UA-cam, demand to know what's paid-for food and what's not? Does she ever eat or act differently? I think all those critiquing Koreans need to figure out what they can actually respectfully request Hamzy and what's beyond that boundary. To finish off, I personally sense that Hamzy has got a good conscience of her own, a professionalism and the drive/passion to provide us with more joy through her channel for a while. So, I hope the viewers put faith in her and trust her direction for this channel and its management. If one day she slips off the track, the number of viewers will show it.

All Koreans are born into and grow up in this culture of emphasising morality, ethics and group value, as opposed to an individualism. This acts as a driving force in times of serious crises - like the 1997 IMF crisis and this pandemic. However, on the flip side, and also for their lack of personal boundary and respect for others, almost all Koreans feel entitled to preach around other people with each own standard of 'how one should live and carry oneself', even when they are not their own little kids. This attitude multiplies toward public figures. And as seen on this platform, a great deal of Koreans conform to that mindset and social pressure with little effort to act differently or observe others around the globe,
Just because one watches her videos, that doesn't entitle them to police around how she should manage her channel, content, presentation and her business for that matter. They don't own a stake in her business, thus they don't have a right to interfere with how she should grow it to a success. Remember, she's got a lot of international viewers, too, that she needs to cater to.
A troll even made a video in which he criticised her "preferential captioning" that, according to him, further deepens her "manipulative motive". It doesn't look to me that the stuff she comments in Korean only need to be also put in other languages because they mostly concern Koreans only. And Hamzy also mentioned, although she commissions for caption translations in at least 6 different languages for her international viewers, these jobs take too long for her upload frequency. I personally find that this effort of hers alone illustrates her professionalism on this platform. Why should the viewers, not UA-cam, demand to know what's paid-for food and what's not? Does she ever eat or act differently? I think all those critiquing Koreans need to figure out what they can actually respectfully request Hamzy and what's beyond that boundary.
To finish off, I personally sense that Hamzy has got a good conscience of her own, a professionalism and the drive/passion to provide us with more joy through her channel for a while. So, I hope the viewers put faith in her and trust her direction for this channel and its management. If one day she slips off the track, the number of viewers will show it.
