I think part of why I love most about the show is that the creator Richard Gadd doesn't paint himself as a "perfect victim" narrative he shows his flaws and tells us he made mistakes due to the traumatic events that took place in his life cause that's a sad reality a lot of victims face and get backlash from like he's getting. By the end of the day no matter his faults I believe him being abused and left vulnerable will never be his fault
This episode was so hard to watch but so important too. I watched this series knowing nothing about it right after I watched the Quiet on Set Documentary (worth watching too) and the parallels of abuse from a predator who used their power in the industry to groom/gain the trust and then abuse a younger performer was so chilling. I think its really important to show these stories and show the reality of how trauma and this type of abuse can affect that person in every part of their lives, for the rest of their lives. The damage it leaves on the psyche is huge and the way these predators calculate and manipulate their victims is important to understand so others can watch out for it. Hopefully shows like this and quiet on set help educate people.
Your initial reaction to Donny was probably the same as most others. Why on earth is he letting this happen? Why isn’t he putting a stop to Martha’s madness? And then you get to this episode and all those questions get answered. This is such a crazy rollercoaster ride of a story
It happened to the same guy. He’s actually just playing himself, which makes it sadder bc u know everything happened almost exactly how the show is

It enables people who may be suffering to open up about their trauma and encourages others to have that discussion, which ultimately is good because it lets people know that they're not alone ❤
