Dude! For how cheap of a mechanism that cassette player has, it sounds freakin' awesome! I'd love to wake up to the sounds of Sonic the Hedghog on my vintage clock radio!
I got to say that I never thought I would live to see the day that VCR and betamax units would become collectible just like cassette players and boomboxes. I guess anything is collectible depending on what you like baseball cards comic books coins radios TVs whatever. You guys have very interesting videos and of course I look at everyone. The rca ctc100 restoration videos were my favorite.
I saw one of these at a goodwill a while back it looked really cool and I'm a sucker for all in one units, but it felt kind of cheap and didn't work well at all so I passed it by. I assumed it was from the early 1990s, I had no idea it was this old
Back in those days many companies combined the lower TV band with FM. This was a cost-saving measure. That way, there was a single band that ran from 54MHz (TV Ch 2) to the top of the FM band (108MHz).
I was given that EXACT model in 1984, by a neighbor, but it came with a pair of stereo speakers 🔊. Actually, no, not exact, but very close. Mine lacked the TV1, TV2 📺 bands. I liked the vacuum fluorescent display of these. They lasted up to 15 years (20 if lucky 🍀) before burning out. Just don’t drop the vacuum fluorescent display, it’s glass, and it will break easily. I’m not sure 🤔 if this plays in stereo, or mono. That’s a blowout bright display!! Operating it at lower intensity will result in longer display life. Your friend, Jeff.
The question would be, does the pinch roller release pressure from the capstan when the tape is not playing, for wake to cassette, or does the tape get an indentation in it ?
@@spatsbear True... not only the tape, but the pinch roller if it is left for too long. That was something learned very quickly by car stereo manufacturers: auto 8 track / cassette tape eject (and on better units auto roller release) when the ignition key is turned off... especially with extremes of temperature and humidity in a car.
I've seen these on eBay and wondered about them. Thanks for the demo!
That's a awesome clock 🕒 I remember these when I was a kid.
That's a nice alarm clock, great find. I really like the brushed aluminum look, and of course, my favorite, the flashing colon!

This is a great alarm clock with Cassette, Radio, TV, and Weatherband

Looks like a very neat alarm clock I love the tape deck loading mechanism

Also why you NEVER got a UHF 14-83 audio tuner.

Not bad for the early 80's.
Very cool alarm clock i love it👍🐺
The question would be, does the pinch roller release pressure from the capstan when the tape is not playing, for wake to cassette, or does the tape get an indentation in it ?
Unfortunately no, the pinch roller remains engaged. If it was operated daily, it might not hurt it… otherwise, hello indent in the pinch roller.

Anybody remember the Sampo brand?
They had a TV with 3 TV's in one.
It was a prize on the Price is Right a lot back then
I had a Sampo boombox back in the day & it's radio was stellar. FM was very sensitive, but wouldn't overload from the 25kW station 4 blocks away.
Wow 83 danggg
Sounds like some porn music lol 😅
