I'd argue that the Jackson's have moved culture further than the Wayans have as far as entertainment in general. They probably are the most prominent black TV and film family.

@Gree$e, I probably should have clarified that I was talking about them as far as movies and tv. After I thought about it though they're the only black family that does film or comedy. Really the only family period that does film. I know lots of siblings that do like Omar and Cuba Gooding and in comedy Joe and Guy Tori ,but I can't think of any who has more than 2 family members. Do you know of any ? Seems like families only do music, because I can think of several music groups that have entire families involved.🤔

In Living Color was one of the best ensembles Comedy shows ever. My little 2 year old baby turned me on to it. He knew I liked to laff so when it came on he'd say "Mommy here's your show" 😂❤❤

People forget, they made a lot of people stars and not just black stars. They made Anna Farris a star, they were extremely instrumental in Jim Carrey and Jennifer Lopez’s careers just to name a few. They are definitely under appreciated in Hollywood. It’s a shame.

The Wayans family should have gotten their own version of the Mark Twain award among whatever else is out there to acknowledge comedic talent. Their contributions are memorable but somehow don't get noticed like they ought to. They are like Jamie Foxx in the sense that they are versatile and multi-talented and yet you don't hear about it enough for it to be at the forefront of your mind. I grew up enjoying watching Keenen Ivory Wayans Show, Mo money, In living colour, Scary Movies and fell asleep watching SNL. The Wayans Family were going to build a movie studio in Oakland. They had several financial backers who were willing to spend at least $300M on it. The city said no. Someone musti've seen the Wayans as a threat to the big studios. They should invest in a streaming platform instead, like Kevin Hart and Kev On Stage did. I don’t think no Wayans family member been more overlooked than Shawn Wayans My favorite Wayan when He never blew up on His own but Keenan Ivory got His own movies, Damon got His own movies and Marlon got His own movies outside of the Wayans movies but Shawn only had one movie outside of the Wayans movies called New Blood which I had to go look up when that movie wasn’t so relevant
But he also does stand up from time to time and also Shawn guest starred on an episode of Hanging with Mr. Cooper so that's the only thing he did without his family.

Being the 7th of ten , not many families are as large as mine. That being said, I've been with the Wayans since the beginning and will always be a loyal fan. They deserve all praise due to them both in words and in deeds.
If you go back to "Hollywood Shuffle", "I'm Gonna Git You Sucka", you knew the greatness that was the Wayans Family...In Living Color is what rocketed the whole family to the top....

Hollywood Shuffle was Robert Townsend's project. Keenan was brought onboard, because he and Robert was one a comedy duo act. Keenan and Robert eventually fell in favor of Eddie, Eddie's connection with Richard's people began working in favor of Robert, Keenan, and the people who were working with them, and the rest was history.

First of all for starters, I like how he exemplified that he and his family never waited on anyone else to make them great; they took their own initiative and became great as a family and as individuals within their family. To this day, I still have Damon Wayans in my top, five all-time, favorite comedians, and I still feel he is highly underrated.
Keenan Ivory Wayans has never gotten the full credit he deserves for what he bought to Fox television every Sunday night, and succeeded amongst many highly rated shows and many discouraging opinions, because the majority of his cast was African-American.
The Wayans family is a prime example that if you are a powerful black family/black individuals the powers that be will always look to sweep you and I under the rug every time.
Folks also need to remember that Marlon Wayans was originally cast as “Robin” when the character was originally set to appear in “Batman Returns” and then when the Robin character got cancelled from Batman Returns they were gonna re-cast Marlon Wayans as Robin in “Batman Forever” when Tim Burton was still attached to the project until Joel Schumacher took over and recast everyone but Marlon *still* gets paid for those films today even though he didn’t appear in them because of the contracts. The fact that they were gonna cast a black man as Robin just shows how the Wayans made Hollywood take notice of them

Like Pierre said, you don't need Hollywood anymore. I'm excited to create my own path in filmmaking through great projects and relationships. Tyler Perry gave a great speech about owning your own stuff and building a table that many people will eat from.
Marlon Wayans is terribly overlooked. While I can't speak to all the things that he's done behind the camera but onscreen he is extremely diverse. He showed that in addition to comedy, he could be an action star and even a dramatic actor. I think it's a shame that he's been ignored in those other areas.
I like what she said, and it’s a very sad situation. The Kardashians are more famous and are most notable noticed and relevant than the Waynes family is it that is sad situation but yes, I grew up watching in Living Color. The Wayne’s have actually paid the way for so many cultures, so many backgrounds, even the LGBT community definitely been a part of everything every spectrum they are the base or one of the mini bases as a whole and a reason why they don’t get the credit that they truly deserve is because they’re black not just because they’re black, but they cannot be controlled and I’ll love it I respect it. That’s what we all need to be at in our minds in our bodies, and in our spirits not being controlled. 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
