I was told when a kid that steam cars and lorries were fast by my father who remembered them well. I never believed him but I do now. My memory of them was that one delivered beer to a pub next to my school early 50's. Great excitement in the school yard. If we missed it but heard it, if possible we would track it down, following the wet splashes on the road surface.
I absolutely love these old vehicles they will always have something that no modern vehicle will ever have or get ........ CHARM & CHARACTER!!! & evennsome 💕❤️♥️
Even a lovely little car almost at the end 👋👋👋👋👋👋👍😉 ( next to last) I would absolutely love a ride in one of these BEAUTIFUL ICONIC vehicles if it was to in my city or home area passing through. This would certainly make my day.
Really enjoyed that, thanks Alan, it certainly meets the 'cavalcade' description with a fair turn of speed and loads of variety. I particularly liked the shelter on the back at 02:00. The use of stills with a descriptive date was a clever touch. Kind regards, Bob.
Great video Alan. There were a couple of brothers that lived near us who had a Sentinel. I didn't see their name, but they would be pretty old by now so perhaps the one marked for Cam Valley Timber Haulage is the same vehicle. The brothers lived at Camerton, in the Cam Valley near Bath. How could it be anything else? Noel
they are called the goulds, they own the cam valley s4 and are also involved with the blue cowlairs s4 as well..theres loads of them from around camerton and their all generally involved with waggons in one way or another! i used to know them all when i was a kid through sentinels as my dad used to restore them for a living and used to be the chairman of the sentinel drivers club for years till about 2002..
the cam valley one used to have a boom on the back as was converted to a timber tractor at some point but justin put the proper body back onto it a few years ago
That's something a bit different! They can certainly shift, those, probably faster than a contemporary motor lorry. I like the cyclists slipstreaming the one in the first shot.
+AndreiTupolev I was amazed how quickly they went and decided to include the stills because of it. I passed the two leading lorries about five miles before the location that I videoed at and the two cyclists were tucked in then.

Thanks Bob. I enjoyed shooting this one for a change. Kind regards Alan
Wonderful video. I would love to have a steam lorry to do heavy haulage. All of your videos are quite interesting. subscribed to you
Thank you Wesley. A steam lorry would certainly be good publicity. Alan
Appreciated the freeze frames. They weren't hanging about !!
I added the stills as an after thought to give a better view of these lovely machines. Thanks for commenting.
Wow! some of the steam lorries still had solid rubber tyres.
Yes, quite a surprise.

Amazing....from Indonesia
That was motoring along!
3rd ones a standard sentinel built around 1920
literally spent the first 16yrs of my life surrounded by these machines!
Those things are pretty quick for their time, especially being steam powered. If they had the kinda tech Doble had they be efficient too
Bonus appearance from an ERF eight wheeler passing by at 3:35 !
+AndreiTupolev Well spotted, I hadn't noticed.
3:26 they look naked without any signwriting.
Excellent
Thank you.
