Sold my ally z1e for 400 took that and put it to an ally x, so only paid about 448 after tax for the ally x..imo a no brainer at that out of pocket cost.
doind the same now just for 450 :D
The new back paddle button position makes it useless for FPS, you know what back buttons are for. The orginal back buttons are way better
I agree I liked the older ones, I got the x and they’re too out of the way for me.
I guess it comes down to preference and how you use them. I completely understand how smaller and more tucked away buttons can be worse for FPS games. Will keep that in mind for future reviews. Thanks for pointing that out.

An upgrade from the first Ally x for sure, but lets be honest. Compared to all the other devices on the market right now, the decision is difficult!
There are a ton of great handhelds on the market today for sure. Really difficult choice. At the end I even said that for some people the steamdeck OLED might be a great choice, it will come down to what people want and need and all of them are good
got my very first allyX (never owned ASUS products)
i do own the LCD deck.. but it’s refreshing to have the freedom to play most games on allyX with no worries.
don’t get me wrong, allyX is a costly purchase upgrading to 4tb and dual booting bazzite’s steam OS.
it’s literally the best of both worlds!
I decided to keep my LCD deck for indies and retro games now, still a great device BUT allyX for me is what I wanted the deck to be, FREEDOM to play 90% of games!
I got my first ASUS AllyX (never owned the OG) and even purchased a 4tb so it’s a costly device. took the time to even dual boot Steam OS via bazzite. it’s refreshing to play most games with no worries.
was going to sell my LCD deck, but decided to keep it for indie and retro games on it. While my main is the X for all heavy games. I’ll be taking it easy after this 😅

Yes, it is worth it. I love mine. Sold my ROG Ally and got the X one as it fixed the main issue I had with it, I.e. battery duration.

I love the Ally X. I was primarily using the Ayaneo 2 before. It has a better d-pad, brighter display, and amazing joysticks. Problem is it would get too hot and the software support was lacking. Despite the battery size being 50 wh, had poor battery life (I'm sure contributed by bad thermals and need to constantly have fans running). The Ally X is a complete game changer for me. The fact that it has an amazing battery life makes it actually useable as a portable device. I use the viture pro glasses if I really want an OLED screen, but I think the built in screen is already fantastic!! I can't stop playing it, my eyesight is getting worse lol.

There are 3 devices I purchased from Aya Neo although 2 were used that costs about as much as the Alley X or more, but they all do something special. One has OLED display & is legitimately pocket sized, one has a dual display & one has a sliding keyboard. The Alley X does nothing special in comparison to these other models & although I’m sure it’s a solid device it’s simply not worth that price while not doing anything in particular that something else can’t do. You can get a device with a 60 watt battery & an 8,000 series chip btw & since the 8000 chip can run at lower tpc levels I bet it can produce the same battery wise as that 7000 series Alley X chip b/c you can’t run the 7000 series below 12 watts while you can run the 8000 series chip at 8-10 watts. So even battery life isn’t revolutionary.

Went to a local best buy and got to hold on in my hands. It feels nice! The only issue is I'm waiting for strix point apu. So Ally 2 I'll be there there.
It does feel nice to hold and play with, but yeah if you feel it is better to wait then rather do that
Once valve makes their own steam os for rog ally x it’ll definitely be a tough decision on what I want to upgrade my lcd steam deck too

Yes it is.think, youll pay 1800 for a gaming laptop. And while the proce of 1599 AU is ridiculous. Usd price isnt that bad.

For a noisy background the Samson will be better because it is dynamic, but another great choice would be the Rode Podmic USB, or even the Shure MV7.
@@Jacqie podmic usb is outta the budget a bit and the MV7 is not available for my country. And do you know why not many people talk about the samson q9u nowadays?
My only problem is with the screen bezel . They look horrendous. I will stick with the deck oled . It's just a better overall device .
What is better about the steam deck oled aside from the screen?
@@carlosescobedo714 actually most things . Steamos , better comfortability, less weight , trackpads that are very handy and much cheaper . For few fps you loose a lot on x . I returned it and will wait for a better handheld from Asus .
