Other recs in Pal Park: For Korean BBQ, THE place to go is So Moon Nan Jip, one of the few remaining places that is still allowed to use charcoal and it’s been an institution forever. Like I said in chat, Old Shanghai next door to Pho 420 is a solid option for soup dumplings, but probably inferior to what you can get in Seattle and not quite up to par with what you can get in Queens. For Korean style Chinese, go to Te Min Quan which is a block over from So Moon Nan Jip. The things to get there are JiaJiang Myun (which is a Korean take on Chinese XiaXiaMien), they are a noodles with a black bean sauce traditionally with onions and minced pork. I recommend the spicy version of it called yooni jia jiang. There’s also a spicy seafood noodle soup called Jiampong, they offer a half and half option where you can get half jiampong and half jiajiang. Other staples there include tangsuyuk(deep fried pork strips covered in a sweet and sour sauce) and kkanpunggi (spicy garlic braised/deep fried chicken chunks). Some combination of those 4 are probably ordered 90% of the time amongst Korean patrons. There are several other local favorites as well depending on what you’re in the mood for, but those are a good representative of the “heavy hitters”.
You know it’s legit when there’s the perfect ratio of ingredients for each bite and you don’t even need to add to the broth. Dope review 😎 glad you’re coming home for a visit.
I really think you shadowin' me for sure. First you dropped the downtown JC the other day, now you at the town I lived in from when I left JC in '81 and stayed till '87. Got married in that church in the first ten seconds of the video, my wife's family lived down the hill on Homestead, and we used to patronize and were friends with the first Koreans who came to Pal Park in the mid-'80s. My son, who's Afro-Korean, was baptized in that church also, and had his first intimate connections with the opposite sex in the back stairs of the church hall. Actually, the town, which was a sort of mob retirement community, was dying, the younger folks were moving out, and the Koreans brought a new energy and a total revitalization. Anyhow, back to the food. Those summer rolls looked like a special appetizer, and the spicy intestine pho would be my first choice in there. Haven't been back in quite a while, although I did deliver to several Korean places in the early 2000s. Gotta put this on my to do list now or I'll never get back there. Thanks for this, it was special for me definitely. You sure you not readin' my bio that I still never wrote?
I feel you. My problem is when I don’t talk and just eat the vlog will be only 2mins. I would inhale my food too fast. So vlogging is me practicing to slow down when I eat, it’s helped a lot lol
@@HellaChluy show footage of you walking out of that place and show more food. You can eat less there. You can also show close up shots. Don't have the spring rolls then go eat elsewhere. As a viewer, I want to feel that it's delicious and consumed with gusto.
merch looks dope ! 🔥
wow those portions are very nice! Keep up the good work!
Very good portion!
