I grow older and older, yet I still come back to this video and this song on UA-cam. What they've done with the soundtrack is beyond fascinating and amazing to me.

Oh the nostalgia. I was 4 when this game released and my Dad was a fan I was mesmerized by the music, mythology and gruesome gameplay, I love how the series seemed to grow with me gameplay and story wise and for me his arc of revenge to remorse and finally redemption is the best storytelling I've witnessed in any game

I replayed God of War 2 over and over again on my ps2 back in the day and will never get enough of this glorious soundtrack, you can feel the energy while you are in combat and it makes you want to do some crazy combos just to match the energy of the song. God of War soundtrack is so iconic dood, every old game has a good soundtrack, they truly enjoyed making those games. Sadly I can't say the same for the new GoW games.
Purists are always interesting. I'm pretty sure they were way more invested in the Norse games but they were all great (except Ascension). GoW4 even outsold the whole Greek saga combined and was voted as Game of All Time... I think they did pretty alright, soundtrack won best of the year for Ragnarok. People can like both, you know.

They would also be accepted even if only the father was Spartan , but the mother had to be Greek and not a barbarian woman. Those were called "Μόθακες". They were still considered "Όμοιοι" but they would always have the stigma of not being "pure".

I only played the beginning of the gow2 like 10+ years ago on ps2 emulator on pc and finished the trilogy on pc this year gow1-2 in march i guess and gow3 in june this soundtrack is very nostalgic to me for some reason I maybe didn't even hear it in my old past but still touches my heart somehow

It creates real continuity of the previous game by starting you where you left off, as a mighty god who defeated your predecessor and now have the power to vanquish anyone who stands in your way. At 1:05, your powers is diminished with trickery, and for the first time in presumably decades if not centuries, you are genuinely fighting for your life. But your warrior determination has not faded, as the chorus once again rises again in your favor at 1:58, reminding all your enemies why you are the God of War. The chant at the end is the victory cry of your Spartan brothers as you prevail over the opposition regardless of what is thrown at you. Until you are pancaked by a statue.
