RIP Graeme Naysmith. A Shoegazing pioneer, whether he knew about it or not. Pale Saints were perhaps the most complex and intricate of all the Shoegazer bands with their time signature changes and tempo changes, and the way their songs blended in to one another on TCOM. Almost prog at times
So underrated. It's 2024 and i still love them.
Pale Saints are rarely mentioned among the Shoegaze “giants”, but In Ribbons & Slow Buildings contain songs that are among my absolute favorites (including “Blue Flower”, which they recorded BEFORE Mazzy Star’s version). I so wish they had recorded more than the 3 albums. The Saints forged a uniquely great sound that was engaging, dreamy, and earnest 👍
Good band. Great bass playing. 🙂
Thank you ; Pale Saints live recordings are so rare
This has to be the best footage of a Pale Saints gig there is out there. The audio is so crisp. Ian's voice punches through just like on the albums. What a spiritual and intimate gig this must have been... audience is so calm and sedated. The renditions of Little Hammer, Blue Flower and Hunted are particularly magical. Thanks for the upload 👍
Meriel was a brilliant addition to the band and "In Ribbons" is a masterpiece. (Though I believe this show predated its release.) I was very sad when Ian left, but I think Meriel and the guys (plus Colleen) did really well with "Slow Buildings," and deserve much more credit than they got for that record.
Slow Buildings is among my favourite records, such a fantastic album
Thank u
