Gon could start being an entirely different person after the chimera ant arc I mean having his nen stripped and all the the things that happened to him in that arc could've drastically changed him and what better way to show that he's changed in someway than to change his *nen affinity* I mean it would be quite interesting like making gon into a specialist based of his recent behavior of being independent now which specialist are known to be (leaving killua, doing his own things and having contact with his father who he himself is doing his own things) therefore giving togashi more creative room to do whatever he wants with gon I mean its not impossible for gon to become a specialist his father is one and his nen was stripped away and it'll be interesting to see cause enhancers has the least chance of becoming a specialist which no one in the manga has yet to do but with this change you can make gon have new goals, new abilities and potentially grow up with his father figure; ging finally being around and gon can become more mature and become a totally different person/character cause he's still a kid growing up, many people that have grown up are not exactly the same character as they were as kids cause of their experiences and hunters are known to be selfish creatures so gon can easily get new goals or selfish desires etc.
It's like in Prison Break it's clearly written with the intention of Michael Scofield getting caught. Writing yourself into difficult to seemingly impossible corners and then writing yourself out convincingly is the hallmark of masterful writing
This may be quite random but I never noticed until this video that they reversed the color of gidos tops and his robe, the older 90s run had red and yellow tops with gido being mostly black/grey. lol I wonder if that was done to make him standout more against the darker backgrounds
I wish there was a way to instantly create content lol because I want a razor backstory. He’s so got damn powerful but we don’t get to see him show it for real
I think this approach to storytelling is the only process that allows for the Chimera Ant arc to exist. While humanity won, Gon most definitely lost and Mereum ended up where he wanted - even if he didn't know it, and even died.
This from the mangaka who immediately killed Yusuke in YYH. To avoid spoiling the later events I won't be specific: but if this is Togashi-san's mindset about his protagonists, then the things that end up happening to Yusuke makes SO MUCH more sense.
Looking at Gon’s current Nen-less but alive status solely in terms of Gon himself may not be the full picture. Personally I think Togashi may have decided not to kill Gon not for Gon’s sake but for Kilua. How would his best friend’s death have changed Kilua going forward?
Don't say "Quarter of a century ago". LOL... That's so depressing thinking about the time gap like that. HOLY COW... I'm really now starting to feel old.
Remember in the beginning where he was having difficulty between saving son and daughter quiz question? I think that’ll come back for real and the consequences might be gon choosing to die to save both.
To this day I am always incredibly sad when people get so intensely hyped when Gon throws everything away against Pitou.. It is a sad moment where a young boy deals with grief in perhaps THE worst way possible, by giving into blind rage and throwing away everything. It has always been such a sad moment for me, and I'm sad to see that so many people see it as a triumph or a win when it is decidedly not.
But to think of it, none of the main characters are yet to die. Gon, Kurapika, Killua, Leorio and Hisoka are yet to be killed. So, should we really be fearful that they'll be killed off for good? If they do die, it'll probably be at the end of the series.
I mean didn't the creator explicitly say once that Kurapika will die? And it's written all over that vengeance will be his own demise. Gon has to face Hisoka and Gyro whenever that happens, which both seem deathly encounters. (Though Hisoka is also involved with the phantom troupe so he may or may not meet Gon when he's ready.)
Hisoka DID die though.. Clinically and medically speaking he was dead. Bungee-Gum restarted his dead heart. Hisoka ressed himself with post- mortem Nen and became stronger as a result. The real point is: Hisoka needs to die AGAIN
@@GoldenLeafsMovies My point is, we keep referring to Hunter x hunter like it's Game of Thrones on steroids. Not one crucial character has died. Netero was just an OP side character and Kite had no significance until Chimera ant arc. Yes, Hisoka was killed but not KILLED OFF. Trust me, Togashi isn't as brutal as we want to believe. And the fact that he told us beforehand that Kurapika will die shows he's not ruthless. The hallmark of a cold-ass writer is his willingness to kill off main characters because of the confident in his ability to create new and LIKABLE characters. I'm 100% sure of Togashi's creativity, but like 98% of writers, he's not confident enough to let go of his beloved characters. He's not different from the rest, trust me.
You should make a few videos about the dark continent. Like who you think is actually going to get there to begin the exploration, are there actually people there besides don freecs, what type of nen we could see
That's the reason why HxH is my favourite anime. I didn't know why at first, except for the fact that I only knew he was doing so many things differently in the shounen sense. The way he built the world truly showed that Gon was always in danger.
At this point we should just use the phrase "broken arm" when referring to characters that die in situations where we can't talk about death. Fan : "Did you see the episode yesterday? It was brutal." Other Fan : "Oh yea? Did 'Hero' break any arms?" Fan : "Bruh. 'Hero' broke all the arms."
I love your videos, your editing, your goofs - just one comment.. I can't stop looking at your nose. Is the light playing an optical illusion or did you break it at some point? You're still a very handsome boi and if anything it adds to that but I just have to know. 😅
Using the theory of gon being born by the greed island cards I think gon is just a failsafe for Ging in case he dies in the dark continent. Gon would be like a little clone of ging who`s supposed to live a normal life with mito.
That was ending D that Togashi decided he's not going to use, but I think he said if he unfortunately passes away before finishing HxH, then people can just think of that as the ending for the story.
@@aura7117 it’s not finished, so for now that’s the ending, and he already knows he’s not finishing it hence why he gave us an ending for us to consider as the true ending at least until otherwise said by him
There is a rumor that Togashi wanted to kill Yusuke during the fight against Sensui (Yu Yu Hakusho) and the others would defeat the antagonist (Sensui) but Shonen Jump didn't approve the idea and then he came with the resurrection idea on that other manga. Probably in Hunter Hunter he has more liberty.
Ok, I get what you are saying after watching the video. Thought you were origonally saying he had changed his mind and wanted him to die.. after just saying he wanted him to be less of a character to focus on.. but you make really good naritive points for things to talk about. It is interesting to write a character like that just just find ways out of it.
Watching the anime I didn’t really feel any tension because I know he can’t die. So even in situations where it would seem doomed for Gon. You know he’ll get out of it somehow. There are some incredibly well done emotional moments, but the stakes never hit.
I recently had a thought... what if the entirety of the dark continent arc is actually hisokas post death dream compliments of Chrollos darkest ability. It would be interesting if the story goes back to the heavens arena battle between Hisoka and Chrollo and we find out what actually happend was Hisokas complete defeat, the princes are just visions from hisokas deep subconscious and Gon actually doesnt lose his powers, gon trains his size change with bisky and he then goes to find his mother who lives in the dark continent all on an entirely different ship 😂😅
I remember when Gon was in a coma for an entire arc, & reading comments from other readers. Almost nobody missed him & preferred having Killua in the lead. A lot of "good riddance, Gon was annoying" & "Gon was such a stereotypical shounen lead" was to be had.

I love the threate that hisoka pose but the resolution is pretty weak and hisoka become a joke: you know he wont kill anyone under the excuse they are not ready. I would love to see this author with complete freedom, without the deed to keep going with the same story like many manga of the same genere do
The actual easiest way for Gon to die during the 4th phase of the hunter exam would be for him to be Illumi's target, but that might have been to difficult for him to get out of.
Hisoka won't kill Gon yet, but Illumi on the other hand would have ended him with in seconds... so giving him Illumi's number or reverse would have been worst case really.
One of my pet peeves is people using the expression "deus ex machina" incorrectly. It is a term that comes from greek theater and it describes the practice that super natural entities would not enter the stage normally, but rather be wheeled in on a wagon or lowered with a pulley or something along those lines. It does NOT mean "divine intervention" or "plot contrivance" or " McGuffin". This is something that you only find in nerd culture and people keep copying it over and over. But you have history with theater and you shouldn't perpetuate this!
I mean, Gon's functionally dead in the story, since he lost his nen after the Chimera Ant arc. Actually killing Gon just feels like overkill at this point.
I personally think that Gon isn't human and probably some Men experiment of Gings, who probably deemed a failure which is why he ditched him as well as doesn't care for him like he's his own flesh and blood. And by extension, I think Togashi sees him the same way, a throwaway product of Nen to meet his own goals. A failed product from the start. In fact, I think Ging may be similar as well, possibly created by Don Freecs. Meh, just a crazy idea I've always had floating around in my head

Right when I think “There’s no more content for this dude to make videos for” he makes another captivating and tantalizing banger. Good job you.
I loved the Hisoka theory video you did last and this one being a Gon one hmmmmm something nefarious going on 😅
I just realized that hisoka is shounen freddy kruger
You mean more like it the clown from that Stephen King movie
@@laquanlucas6953 nah, it isn't a pedo. Kruger is
@@ODDiSEE_ hisoka act like that fam
It's like in Prison Break it's clearly written with the intention of Michael Scofield getting caught. Writing yourself into difficult to seemingly impossible corners and then writing yourself out convincingly is the hallmark of masterful writing
Ah, but we all must remember that bungee gum contains the properties of both rubber and gum, and so there is always hope.
That is such a smart way to write a story!! Never thought of that possibility, it is so smart and creative!
The more you seek life, you'll surely die. But the more you seek death you'll find life.
~unsure who said this
This may be quite random but I never noticed until this video that they reversed the color of gidos tops and his robe, the older 90s run had red and yellow tops with gido being mostly black/grey. lol I wonder if that was done to make him standout more against the darker backgrounds
I hope that Togashi decides to give Kurapika a happily ever after, or if he does die, then Alluka could use her powers to resurrect him 😢
If we learned anything from akira and DBZ they probably wasn’t gonna LET togashi kill gon
Still needs to meet Gyro
Don't say "Quarter of a century ago". LOL... That's so depressing thinking about the time gap like that. HOLY COW... I'm really now starting to feel old.
take a sip every time Liam says "GON"
He wrote an ending with Gon as a grandpa though….
Kurapika is in more danger right now then gon ever was
I commented something like this on one of your videos 5 days ago. I’m happy to see I’m not crazy.
What if Gon were to sacrifice himself to save the three friends (Kurapika, Killua and Leorio) from a devastating death?
Most plausible ending I'd say.
@@johnnygalaxy9022Yeah, maybe he would make a deal with Alluka if something like this happen.
Remember in the beginning where he was having difficulty between saving son and daughter quiz question? I think that’ll come back for real and the consequences might be gon choosing to die to save both.
@@mouli1216 Ohh.
The game wasn’t even a pass the game was real so if angels breath worked in the game it had to be a way for it to work in the real world
thanks for another fun video liam!~ definitely cool to see how togashi writes, i really do wish he could heal but i know thats up to Nanika
Hisoka getting your phone number is a fate worse than death
To this day I am always incredibly sad when people get so intensely hyped when Gon throws everything away against Pitou.. It is a sad moment where a young boy deals with grief in perhaps THE worst way possible, by giving into blind rage and throwing away everything. It has always been such a sad moment for me, and I'm sad to see that so many people see it as a triumph or a win when it is decidedly not.
Day 6 of trying to convince@NewWorldReview that the man on a dragon that's on top of another dragon is don freecss
Kurapikas main skill is literally to drain his lifespan, killua brushed with when dealing with ai, it’s probably the payment for gon
@@rhetoric5173 That's a good point. Its quite possible that Kurapika dies by expending all his lifespan (?life force?) at a critical junction.
Do I need to remind you of the abilities of bungee gum?
It’s rubber and glue
You should make a few videos about the dark continent. Like who you think is actually going to get there to begin the exploration, are there actually people there besides don freecs, what type of nen we could see
That's the reason why HxH is my favourite anime. I didn't know why at first, except for the fact that I only knew he was doing so many things differently in the shounen sense. The way he built the world truly showed that Gon was always in danger.
The greed island one should get a bigger pass given that the healing spirit was the reason they were hired to go inyo the game
At this point we should just use the phrase "broken arm" when referring to characters that die in situations where we can't talk about death.
Fan : "Did you see the episode yesterday? It was brutal."
Other Fan : "Oh yea? Did 'Hero' break any arms?"
Fan : "Bruh. 'Hero' broke all the arms."
Who knew all the times I watched/read HxH there were a lot of times Gon should've bit the big one but survived due to plot
I love your videos, your editing, your goofs - just one comment..
I can't stop looking at your nose. Is the light playing an optical illusion or did you break it at some point? You're still a very handsome boi and if anything it adds to that but I just have to know. 😅
I mean, Togashi did kill off Yusuke Urameshi from YuYu Hakisho… twice!
Why doesnt togashi hire assistants to draw the manga while supervising them instead of indefinite hiatuses??
Using the theory of gon being born by the greed island cards I think gon is just a failsafe for Ging in case he dies in the dark continent. Gon would be like a little clone of ging who`s supposed to live a normal life with mito.
But Gon never dies according to Togashi Gon lives a long life having grand kids in the ending he gave the world
That was ending D that Togashi decided he's not going to use, but I think he said if he unfortunately passes away before finishing HxH, then people can just think of that as the ending for the story.
Probably in Hunter Hunter he has more liberty.
what a masterful look into this type of writing.
Ok, I get what you are saying after watching the video. Thought you were origonally saying he had changed his mind and wanted him to die.. after just saying he wanted him to be less of a character to focus on.. but you make really good naritive points for things to talk about.
It is interesting to write a character like that just just find ways out of it.
just notice the nose maybe the lights highlights it hehe
Watching the anime I didn’t really feel any tension because I know he can’t die. So even in situations where it would seem doomed for Gon. You know he’ll get out of it somehow. There are some incredibly well done emotional moments, but the stakes never hit.
The majority of shoun and hero content in general
"But if you leave the camera rolling"...
Gon just kept calling Togashi’s bluff until he was just like “no more nen for you, you little shit”
The first 2 minutes of this video hit the nail on the head.
Not the doflamingo dog shirt😂😂
I recently had a thought... what if the entirety of the dark continent arc is actually hisokas post death dream compliments of Chrollos darkest ability. It would be interesting if the story goes back to the heavens arena battle between Hisoka and Chrollo and we find out what actually happend was Hisokas complete defeat, the princes are just visions from hisokas deep subconscious and Gon actually doesnt lose his powers, gon trains his size change with bisky and he then goes to find his mother who lives in the dark continent all on an entirely different ship 😂😅
I would like this
And I hate dream things like this in general
I mean looking at his ending D, I highly doubt that. But at the same time I guess I could see it assuming his other endings are drastically different
I was like "what?!" When I saw the notification 😭😭
reminding that 1999 is a quarter-century ago made me laugh hahaha. i loved the 1999 version more than the 2011 version.
I have no idea how you keep making hxh content
Can you please do a video about what your hatsu would be if you were in HXH
So, when(not if) Togashi kills off Kurapika, what remotely shonen-y storylines could Leorio have as he is now.
