This is actually a studio cut. This video was probably shot with a click track for the band. Also, the Allman's had two drummers, as well as the Grateful Dead and other bands, though it's not that common.
yes he is 1 of the Van Zant brothers, he is Donny, the original singer for Lynyrd Skynyrd was Ronnie and after his death Johnny took over lead vocals....
I saw them last summer 06/2021 and I thought it was fantastic too. I wondering what it would be like with only one original member, but I was not disappointed!
Freaking THRILLED you finally got to 38 Special!!! LOVE these guys and to answer your question (sort of! lol!!).... While Don Barnes is the lead singer for this song and some other 38 Special hits.... Donnie Van Zant (younger brother of Ronnie Van Zant!😉) was actually one of the founding members, guitarist and co-front man which is why you see him on stage with them!! The family resemblance is ridiculous!!!😅 But also of note.... 38 Special has many ties to Lynyrd Skynyrd within the band as a whole.... Donnie VanZant said in an interview at one point that they were trying to be like his big brothers/Skynyrd but they eventually found their own sound.👊 Glad they did, LOVE these guys!! Next from 38 Special..... "Caught Up In You" - (Don Barnes again on lead vocals). It's my second favorite song from them although they have a bunch of hits!!!! Awesome reaction Biz and also cuz you asked, YESSSSSS.... definitely do the studio track!! But I'll be honest.... this live was pretty damn close to the studio track!!💯💯💯 You be the judge though and do the studio track! lol!!😜 Oh and don't forget, my vote is..... "CAUGHT UP IN YOU" next for these guys!!🤗😁Peace and light fam....💞
.38 Special has a lot of Skynyrd connections Bassist Larry Junstrom is a founding member of Lynyrd Skynyrd,Guitarist Jeff Carlisle plays on the Skynyrd song Four Walls of Raiford( you should do it), of course there is Ronnie and Johnny's brother Donnie Van Zant and even one of the the drummers married Ronnie's widow! I love the .38 songs Back Alley Sally,Wild Eyed Southern Boys and Chain Lightning
I saw in concert in the 1980 and they had stacks of beer cans on the sides of the stage and started throwing them out into the audience. They preformed great live!! Those were the days!😁💥
Caught Up in You, Chain Lightning, Fantasy Girl, Somebody Like You, You Keep Running Away. They have an AMAZING song catalog. Just listen to the whole Special Forces album. Just saw them last night. They still sound amazing even though the line up is a little different. Don Barnes still brings the vocals, albeit a little worn for age, but still killing it. Yes, two drummers. Saw them the first time in 82.
.38 SPECIAL, "HOLD ON LOOSELY". Southern Rock Grooviest sounds that sounds so 70'S. Yes they had 2 drummers a couple of bands I can think of that also had this. The Allman Brothers, and the Doobie Brothers.
Southern Rock had a few great bands with 2 drummers. Charlie Daniels Band, The Allman Brothers Band, Marshall Tucker Band. Another band I love was The Doobie Brothers. Rock on... 😎
You pointed out the right guy, Donnie Van Zant. He sings lead on some of the songs. As far as two drummers goes, a lot of bands back in the day had them. The Allman Bros; The Doobie Brothers have two drummers. Others were The Outlaws, Grateful Dead,
Yeah BizMan 38 special was great in the day!!!!! Great penmanship and music all day long. Feel free to try the tune “Caught Up In You” next. It’s fire 🔥 in my humble opinion!!!!! So says Austin Tx!!!! 🥳🎸🎸😎🍸
The oldest and the youngest boy did an album called VanZant check out the song called " Help somebody" these boys voices all sound very similar it's crazy
I had a comment typed and it got erased and now I'm pissed! My computer is not acting right. Anyway, this was a great live version. I'm not a huge fan but I don't dislike them at all. There's a lot of talent there.
I am a huge 38 Special fan. The band has 2 different identities. Don Barnes sings the AOR radio friendly hits. Donnie Van Zant sings the grittier southern rock stuff. I'm much more a fan of the Van Zant stuff. May I suggest a few? Try Stone Cold Believer - ua-cam.com/video/6LlRc4iwHXQ/v-deo.html Back On The Track Rebel To Rebel - ua-cam.com/video/lj0ViwRjhwQ/v-deo.html a tribute to Ronnie Van Zant Backdoor Stranger Bring It On - ua-cam.com/video/7f1t1SjoUbQ/v-deo.html And last but not least try WILD EYED SOUTHERN BOYS it has both singers on lead vocals in this song
Great band, very underrated ( mostly because of walking in Skynyrd's shadow,, that's a BIG shadow lol)! Seen them with eddie money 1982/83,and they rocked ! And their still jamming and touring , they played at the casino I work at last year! Wanted to go checkem out, but had to deal f#÷king blackjack all night, ugh! "Rockin into the night" was their song that put them on the map ! Hold on loosely.. caught up in you..chain lightning..wild eyed southern boys took the band to the next level, and for the most part that's the level they stayed at (no fault of their own, music was solid! ! But their timing was off,, cause here comes M.J.,Madonna, Prince,The Police and the glam rock bands, etc ! They put out really good songs thru the mid 80s, but the band would have done a lot better if they would have hit their stride mid 70s ! Thats all totally my opinion or how i seen it !! Anyway,, great band!! I really enjoyed their music !!
Yes dive in! Caught Up in You, Fantasy Girl, If I'd Been The One, Second Chance, Teacher Teacher etc.
This is actually a studio cut. This video was probably shot with a click track for the band.
Also, the Allman's had two drummers, as well as the Grateful Dead and other bands, though it's not that common.
"Back Where You Belong" is an excellent .38 Special song!
Great song and band! This guitar player is very under-rated. (Guy is a powerhouse of a player)
Wild eyed southern boys and rockin into the night are great. Love love 38 special. They have great songs.
Yes, I would dive into their catalog. Personally my second favorite southern rock band behind Skynerd. Guitar heavy with good vocals from Don Barnes.
Saw them with Rush in around 1978. Very solid opening act.
yes he is 1 of the Van Zant brothers, he is Donny, the original singer for Lynyrd Skynyrd was Ronnie and after his death Johnny took over lead vocals....
Such a talented family!!
These guys are still great live. I just saw them back in the early 80's and again a couple years back. Still incredible.
I saw them last summer 06/2021 and I thought it was fantastic too. I wondering what it would be like with only one original member, but I was not disappointed!
My Fantasy Girl! 38 Special best song!!
Ayy nice. I also recommend "Caught Up In You" and "Fantasy Girl"
Another favorite band! All is good with them
They are amazing, one of the best concerts I have ever attended

Sounds like the studio version absolutely! They are awesome.

Great song, brings back so many good memories growing up!
❤️ 38 Special!! If I'd Been The One next please and Thank you. Or Caught Up In You. 🔥
yay this band is awesome and YESSSSSSSS its worth it!
I saw these guys at a big concert (7 bands) in '77.
All three brothers' bands were playing - Lynyrd Skynyrd, 38 Special and the Johnnie Van Zant Band.
They did have two drummers. The Allman Brothers Band had two drummers, too, Jai Jahanny and Butch Trucks.
I saw in concert in the 1980 and they had stacks of beer cans on the sides of the stage and started throwing them out into the audience. They preformed great live!! Those were the days!😁💥

Another banger! Love the dual drummers!!! ✌️😎

The Outlaws are a group you need to check out Biz! Green Grass and High Tides is a great start.
The almond Brothers have 2 drummer's.
Yes, the middle brother, Donnie is a founding member of .38 Special. Yeah, you spotted Donnie. He looks just like Ronnie, doesn’t he?
Love em, my time.
Seen these guys quite a few times. A lot of great southern rock tunes. Check out Chain Lightening by them.
Great stuff Biz, a couple of other bands that use two drummers: Allman Brothers, Doobie Brothers. Genesis sometimes.
Yeah BizMan 38 special was great in the day!!!!! Great penmanship and music all day long. Feel free to try the tune “Caught Up In You” next. It’s fire 🔥 in my humble opinion!!!!! So says Austin Tx!!!! 🥳🎸🎸😎🍸
Yes, Caught Up In You is my favorite.
The oldest and the youngest boy did an album called VanZant check out the song called " Help somebody" these boys voices all sound very similar it's crazy
Middle and youngest. Ronnie was the oldest
I had a comment typed and it got erased and now I'm pissed! My computer is not acting right. Anyway, this was a great live version. I'm not a huge fan but I don't dislike them at all. There's a lot of talent there.
