You make it seem so easy and yet just knowing all the different nodes and when to use them seems incredible complex. Like you said in another video, it's like learning another language.
I wanted to make this exact effect and your video just popped up on my feed without searching for it. Perfect timing, thanks!
I'm just a guy who, once in a while, puts a bunch of clips together, cuts long pauses, etc. and produces a basic watchable video. My greed to learn more about Resolve's colour correction and fusion made me come to your channel, and boy do I rejoice in that greed... :)
Learning can be tremendously fun, and this is the proof! *chef's kiss*
That's some great stuff in here. Matte-Control, Stroke animation, splitting background from object, node organisation, why renaming nodes is important (in spline panel), etc. etc.
That's saved in my Davinci resolve playlist! Thank you ❤️
Thanks!
My editing skills are definitely improving from your short tutorials. Your tutorial videos are also getting better. Thanks for your generous sharing of knowledge.
Ok "The Ryan Reynolds of video editing." You earned my subscription. 😉
Thank you for introducing me to the existence of the spline panel I will now be using that with animations in the future really appreciate it!
So just 54 secs in and I got the freeze frame information I have been wondering about all day. You're just a good teacher. So many videos to watch...
I know this is an older video and maybe something has changed, but instead of using the paint node to animate the border, if you untick 'solid' on the PersonMask_Ply_1, you should get the option to animate the length of the border directly on that polygon mask.. at least that's how I somehow came to do something similar for some small introes I needed to do :)
Great tip! Worked great for me, thank you!
Still amazed that apparently everything I procrastinate learning about for current projects keeps showing up here at just the right time.
CONGRATS on 200k!! I share your videos whenever I can. You really deserve a big following. Thanks for all of the free help with Davinci Resolve 17!!
I was about to start a project involving an animated arrow and your video came up in the sidebar. Spooky UA-cam algorithm knows what you are thinking!
Bro the way you showed how to do that was much easier than alot of people that tried to show that.....you have good teaching skills....you made it seem less complicated and now that helps me for creating other effects thank u
Casey - your videos have been a great help in developing me into a better editor. I am thankful for that. I was having a lot of trouble understanding the Matte control but its starting to make sense.
Keep up the good work!
Thanks to that, I can introduce people like that in my videos. Big gratitude ✌️
thank you so much... I tested it, following (play/pause) every instruction, just for the fun of it, and it's very cool... thanks again !!
i will make me spend two afternoons mastering this. And i'm happy about that. Thank you ! i have seen enough to subscribe i think.
Finally a dip into the spline panel. Thank you!
Zoweeee, to unpack this I'll need to retime my afternoon.
I've watched almost all your videos in the past few weeks. I'm learning so much from them
Love this Casey, it's a great tutorial!
Btw... I had a déjà vu at 6:45! hahah
You make my Day with this videos, now i Can start making videos in DaVinci 17 🇩🇰
I'm moving from Premiere to Resolve and I have to thank you for this video. It basically taught me how to get going with Fusion with some of the common basics. I also like how you explain "why" you do things after every "what", which helps in the understanding. Amazing content!
WHY?!? Premiere is the best I only use resolve cos I don’t have premiere lmao
Great one Casey. Not just the effect but lots of nice organization tips. Saved this is my double secret fusion list! 😎
I always wondered how to mask a video without masking the Media In
New to DaVinci Resolve and I absolutely LOVE your videos!! You explain everything so well! Thank you!
I just learned more from this tutorial than every fusion tutorial ever. Can you do this again please with Resolve?
yes a video about all the tools and settings and how they are used will be great
Thanks for this one, it was fun! I always save these so I can look back at my Fusion node graph and remember how to do things I don't do often.
Thank you so much for this turorial. There were a lot of things at once, but I can just watch it again and again.
And again.
WOW WHAT A VIDEO!! So glad I was able to follow along till the very end, all thanks to you pal
Great video, it reminds me somehow on the intro of Brooklyn 99. It's just crazy what you can do with Davinci Resolve
Dude, Im just starting to use Resolve and 've been watching your tutorials, the way you explain everything is amazing. I've learned a lot! even though sometimes I can't comprehend the whole thing haha. Thank you!
You are the Jedi Master of Resolve
Thank you so much for that great content and your sense of humor👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Wow, I learnt so many different things from this!
I recently made a freeze frame video with call outs. This would have made things a lot easier. I ended up doing a couple fusion clips over the original footage. This required moving things, then looking at the full footage and repeat until it did what I wanted since I was not able to see the original footage while working on the fusion clip. Thanks for everything that you do as I learn a lot from your videos.
just wow! thanks Casey.... I've been looking for this tutorial for a while. You defo make it sound easy to do, but it'll take me a bit to get use to the flow of actions and get it right. Thanks again
I'm new to this video editing.. And you have a good way and simple to explain every step... You Rock @casey faris!!
Brilliant 🤩. Can be used so effectively for introducing characters!!!
after the last video I thought I was starting to get fusion/nodes but wow do I have a lot to learn. thanks for your great videos buddy
STOP IT. Just… STOP IT, Casey. Okay, don’t stop. Please continue. Because…. SO GOOOOOOOOOOOOD.
Thanks Casey for this video. I promised my parents to make a birthday video for a friend during the pandemic. I was originally looking for an effect similar to the one in the movie snatch. This was my first encounter with Resolve and I managed to follow along very well. I only had problems picking those nasty end keyframes in the spline editor ;) . I also did add a blur node before the color correction of the background because obviously my hobby footage was much less professionally looking and I needed the person to stand out even more. Thank you thank you thank you!❤
Thanks Casey. More of these please :)
Whoaaa this was an amazing introduction to Fusion for me 🙌 Definitely need to learn some more basic stuff, but seeing it how it all gets pieced together like that was amazing - thank you!🙏
Bruhhh...I needed this! And you posted and it at the exact right time! Thank you😭😭
Tons of great stuff in here -- thank you Casey. You are at the top of your game on this one!!
Never used Resolve, but I like your videos.
another awesome walkthrough. the ideas are exploding in my head. thank you so much.
17 minutes for 1 second footage! I love editing 😂
I thought I knew what alpha and luminance was for until I saw this technique!
Always learning about Fusion with Casey, man you are awesome. Great tutorial. Have a good one.
You sir, just got yourself a new subscriber!
You teach us the coolest things! 😜
Awesome. Just what I needed
Jesus. It would be fun to be actually fluent in working with nodes like this
ah, now i know how to do it, ....I was working on something in fusoin and couldn't figure out how to work out a certain idea. THX 4the vid.
Love the content but the speed is crazy for anything other than an ideal set up (i.e. having youtube on alt tab from dvr as opposed to a second screen on a device)
Very nice Casey! Thanks
Casey - thank you so much. I've been waiting for this one!
This is amazing!! I'd highly doubt I'll ever need to make this but I would totally love to
Amazing! We need more of these so that we can completely dump After effects 🔥🔥
This video is absolutely amazing! Thankyou for sharing.
So good… thank you!!
This is highly useful. Thank you Casey!
I Love This and I Love You Too!!! Thanks Brother!!!!
Thats just crazy 🙏
6:42
Casey did a whoopsie
Love your vids!
Thanks Casey
Great video! Thanks.
Thats sick
I'm no pro. I just wanted to make videos of our sport trainings and travels. I am only using free version and dang I always learn because of Casey. Thank you always!!
I'm curious though if davinci free can do insert flying sea creatures in video clips? Or make someone a Predator?? Like in after effects (If I'm not mistaken)?
love ur vid man help me a lot on editing on gameplay video
freaking awesome, thanks for sharing the knowledge!
Great videos, man! Subbed!
Man, you're good!!
I wondered how i created a still inside a clip.now i know.thanks
Casey, is there a way to use the “Magic Mask” from the color page in fusion? Seems like that would make masking easier.
This tutorial video would have honestly helped me understand a lot in creating motion graphics if only you would have at least slowed your pace a bit. I'm sorry to say, but to me, it looks like you were either showing off your awesome editing skills or teaching yourself..😅. Or maybe I'm just slow 🐌. But either way, have in mind that intermediate editors like myself would really find it difficult to understand what you are trying to teach if you don't slow your pace a bit. But overall, thanks for the video🙏! I am looking forward to the intermediate version of this tutorial video. I hope you come through 🤞🏿🤞🏿🙏!!
Great tutorial, thanks so much for this tutorial and all your other ones i've used! Aamzing work brother (Ps. a little confusing at one point, had to use my intuition but i got there :D)
Super!
You're awesome!
Luv u2 man!
"First thing we're gonna do, is go down to our nodes" "First thing we're gonna do, is go down to our nodes"
I think I heard an echo :D
It’s important, haha
Thanks for the great content! Really useful... I guess it would be nice to know how to make fusion tamplates or plugins out of these, so that it can be re-used easily.
Thank you
very nice kill bill style animation !
Thanks!
I actually understood some of that! :)
Casey could you please list your hardware specs? Your system is amazingly responsive.
thank you so much
I just switched from premiere pro so I've got a lot of watching to do.
Thanks for video
Awesome fast pace tutorial.
In the spline editor, is there a shortcut to put the play head at the start? I always have to drag the red play head which is cumbersome.
200k SOON
There will be a test on all this tomorrow morning.
Great effect. Thank you!
I have an question: Isn't it easier for the yellow outline instead of creating a Paint node to Just uncheck the "solid-checkbox" in the polygon-node and animate the polygon-length?
Please Tell me the pros of your way to do it.
Thank you!!
A new cool way to do this is using the new magic mask tool with a alpha output
this is hard af thank though
Hey Casey, doing a great job, learning because of you and your team!! So Thanks. Looking to purchase your big kit at 299$US for full training... looks complete. Quick question with this video. Using DR 17 and clicking right to get retime control... it's not available as an option, Bummer??
Oh!! CTRL -R works now lol! But not working with right-click mouse...
