- Happy #CelloTipTuesday, my dolls! For this week's video I have a scale cycle exercises for beginner cellists that spans one octave on G, F, Bb major and TWO octaves on C & D major! If you're revisiting this video, the exercise begins at 4:27 👌🏻! Having a scale warmup routine is very important, and this exercise is the most challenging as it is the last part. The metronome is a few clicks faster, and we're playing more eighth notes than before, but Celli & I can't wait to have you play along with us!

Here is the exercise written out, in addition to the intro I provide in the video. We begin with C major, but as you get comfortable you can keep this pattern and start on a different key for variety & an extra challenge:
-C major: One half note, followed by 2 slurred quarter notes
-G major: Two slurred half notes, followed by a half note
-D major: One half note, followed by 4 slurred eighth notes
-F major: Four slurred eighth notes, followed by a half note
-Bb major: Two slurred quarter notes, followed by 4 slurred eighth notes
-C major: Four slurred eighth notes, followed 2 slurred quarter notes
-D major: Four slurred eighth notes per bow

Yes, I have been doing all 3 exercise videos. You are an excellent teacher and the play along is a part of my warm up each day. Thank you so very much!
I've been doing all three of these videos every night for days and it's a huge help!
Thank you!
Only been playing for a week, I want to start lessons but until then I've been using these to get used to the instrument. Appreciate you putting these together.
Thank you. These videos are invaluable

Bass in 5ths still here. Great stuff!
All 3 done and found useful. Thanks.
That's challenging the first time (and may the second and the third :)) Thanks for posting exercises that get me out of my comfort zone.
You're most welcome and BRAVO to you for pushing yourself in finding cello exercise resources! Challenging ourselves in encouraging ways is how we set up to grow and improve! 💪🏻
Thank you so much for these three videos. I’ve been looking for this!
