    I gotta try out foam armour again, I just did McCree's arm and ended up doing it with worbla cause it's what I'm more familiar with but that foam hand looks so much more comfy haha

      Angelina Garcia there are several types of foam to use for these kinds of projects. EVA foam the floor mats that look like square puzzle pieces are great for thicker armor I'm thinking like gaming armor. There is also a thinner EVA foam for a lighter more bendable foam. (Heat guns are where it's at for doing your own cosplay)
      And then there is the craft foam that you can get at walmart is all different colors like you see what she has.
      The craft foam is great for layering on top of the thicker EVA foam for more details and dimension. Most of this can be bought at walmart. The eva foam would be by the workout section. Usually two types to pick from (6 square pieces or a rolled up EVA mat) for $20. And the craft foam- well the craft section at walmart. :)

    Hi there! I'm a little late to the game, but regardless I have a quick question: does the type of glove matter? I'm trying to be frugal with my money when it comes to pieces that are altered and painted. I see that the glove you have has padding- is that essential or not exactly? Thanks!

    • @GraceWillow
      @GraceWillow  7 років тому +1

      I like using those tactical gloves because the armor tends to stick better and remain more rigid, but you don't have to do that! I've sewn plenty of "hand turkey" gloves and stuck armor on top of them and they've worked out fine.

    Hi Zonbi! I love what you did with this cosplay, I am currently working on a McCree and his robot arm. I was wondering when you plastidipped the glove, did you spray the fabric too? Or did you plastidip the foam then glue it onto the glove? If its the first one (which it looks like) how did you stop the plastidip from soaking through the glove and sticking everything together?

    • @GraceWillow
      @GraceWillow  8 років тому

      Thank you! I plastidipped it when all the pieces were attached to the gloves. Painting every individual tiny piece is a bit tedious for me but taking your time and painting every individual piece will give you lovely results. The plasti-dip doesn't soak through the fabric but I do stick paper towels inside my gloves when I'm gluing the pieces on to prevent the fabric from sticking.

    Quick question that I hope wasn't asked already, and if it is I apologize.
    Never worked with Plasti-Dip before but I plan on making a Zenyatta cosplay, and I was wondering if it bonds to fabric okay. I noticed you seemed to spray the glove after the pieces of foam have been attached. Does it hinder any form of mobility in the fabric of the glove? I'm more asking if it works with a certain fabric more or if its okay to just spray away.

    • @GraceWillow
      @GraceWillow  8 років тому +5

      It doesn't really "bond" to fabric well but it does dry! I found it doesn't impede mobility if you're working with a glove. With gloves, I usually plasti-dip the glove with foam bits attached. If I were more patient, I would take the time to plasti-dip every individual piece before attaching it to the glove--but I usually don't do that. I hope that helps!

    Two questions:
    1. For the leg, are the base pieces made out of craft foam or EVA foam?
    2. When you put on the arm and hand piece, is it easier to put the arm on first and then the hand piece or vice versa?
    The pieces look great! The tips are definitely going to make my Junkrat cosplay a hell of a lot easier! ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ

    • @GraceWillow
      @GraceWillow  8 років тому

      Hi Kandy! For the leg details I used thinner 7mm and 3mm EVA foam that you can get from any craft store. It's easier to put on the arm first, then the glove.
      Best of luck on your build!

    What type of foam are you using for your Junkrat cosplay? I bought wonder mat and was going to use that to build the cosplay, but wonder mat is thicker that the other foam mats. Also thanks you very much for making these helpful tutorial for Junkrat. I've been over thinking on my cosplay and your videos helped me with what to do next especially the riptire. i've already messed up my riptire and i don't want to start all over, but its alright this is my first time working with eva foam and it won't come out perfect the first time. i'll eventually do a redo when I get better with foam, worbla, worbla pie, and moldable plastic.

      You can use EVA foam! I've seen a lot of cosplayers use the ones that come in those jigsaw mats for kids but I think they also sell in rolls on AliExpress or Amazon. The thicker ones are good for the base of props, I tend to use thinner ones for detailing
