    Paused Il2 to watch this. Got through the 5 minute automated start procedure to "Put Stab Trim to +2, then turn Flap Control to on and put Stab Grim back to zero, which will put flaps to 25 degrees" at which point I thought "Nope. This will have to be a long term project". Now I know why Eric Winkle Brown said starting this thing was like playing a Wurlitzer Organ.

    Thank you for this! Great intro to the concepts needed to "fly" this plane! Makes me wonder the pilots destined to fly such a "bus"... commercial pilots brought into the Luftwaffe? Anyways, to gain competence in such an un-sexy aircraft suggests blue-collar satisfaction for work that others can't stomach :)

    • @RequiemsACTL
      @RequiemsACTL  6 років тому +2

      You can't use the fire extinguishers yet Paul, so if you have a fire your best bet is to cut the fuel mixture and perform a high speed dive if you don't want to bail out. The fuel gauges are located on the engines.

    Great video. I wonder how the course selector is used.

    • @RequiemsACTL
      @RequiemsACTL  7 років тому

      I think it's similar to how the autopilot works in other German planes where you would input the heading/desired course you wanted to fly before turning the AP on. Happy to be proven wrong if I'm incorrect of course.
      This kind of feature is functional in IL-2 Cliffs of Dover as far as I know, but not in the other recent titles.

    Hi - I recently downloaded the Tante Ju. When I look left I don’t see the fuel gauge, it’s out of view. I can see the oil dip stick but that’s it. Do you know why this is or is, I’ve tried angling my head view but it doesn’t seem to change the view. Thanks.

    • @RequiemsACTL
      @RequiemsACTL  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah I'm not sure. If you have trackIR you should be able to lean to see things but without that you'll need to use the INS DEL keys and what not to shift your view

    • @nealshave6085

      I’ve found out how to view the fuel gauge. To view the fuel gauge you need to use the snap view left. If you use the turn head left view it just looks left. For 2D flying I’ve found that setting move/position head left and right on the keyboard works better for managing the view of the cockpit. This is useful so you can get a good scan of the instruments including the compass which is tucked down to left.

    Thanks for these tutorials mate - However, I am having some problems with these planes. The Fuel mixtures on the He111 no longer seem to work. I have just bought the Ju52 and it's Stabiliser trim does not seem to work, the Flaps only go full on/off and the indicator does not move either. Lastly, the elevator trim does not seem to work, neither the using the buttons that I use on all of the other planes (which do work on them), but they do nothing for the Ju52, nor does the elevator trim wheel turn. Have some of these things been disabled due to problems since your videos? What am I doing wrong?

    • @RequiemsACTL
      @RequiemsACTL  4 роки тому +1

      Hey Mark, your best bet would be to reach out on the Il-2 forums I think as it's been a long time since I've flown the Ju 52. There are some Ju52 specialists who would definitely chime in over there I think. It seems like it may be a controller assignment or piloting assistance setting. Regarding the He-111 I believe they removed the manual mixture option.

      @@Canzandridas hey, thanks for your comment, I have had a look through the notes as you mentioned, they do seem helpful, however my problem is related to the fact that I cannot 'unstuck' the throttles from the break position of specifically 11%. Great tutorial but please explain why h stab +2 then back to 0 would put flaps at 25°. How are flaps affected by the h stab?

    • @jakubwedrowycz8791
      @jakubwedrowycz8791 8 років тому

      Joe Schmuckatelli and how to put them at 40°? i would have to put hstab at -1 or something?

    • @RequiemsACTL
      @RequiemsACTL  8 років тому +1

      Thanks Joe :-)
      The flap extension/retraction and horizontal stabiliser are linked together on the same control if you want to extend flaps, so if you turn it on and move the horizontal stabiliser wheel the flaps will extend/retract at the same time as the stabiliser adjusts. The description of how that system works is 25 seconds into the video.

    • @RequiemsACTL
      @RequiemsACTL  8 років тому +2

      You can play around with an initial horizontal stab setting and see what you like, but in my landing example I use +2 as the initial setting with flaps at 0°. So after that point I don't worry so much about what the stabiliser setting is because I'm extending flaps for landing. Starting at +2, the stabiliser moves to about -1.6 with flaps at about 40° on final

  • @RobinHartJones
    @RobinHartJones 5 років тому

    Have I got it right? You set Stabiliser to +2 then link the stabiliser & flaps and leave them linked for the whole circuit?

    • @RequiemsACTL
      @RequiemsACTL  5 років тому

      I think so it's been a while though. I would set the trim to +2 after unlinking then link them again when I want to use flaps.

    • @RequiemsACTL
      @RequiemsACTL  4 роки тому

      Not sure..if you only have 1 throttle I'd make sure that you have all the engines selected by pressing 1 2 3. It sounds like one of your engines isn't being used.

    • @RequiemsACTL

      It's essentially fixed to the nearest NDB I believe (if there are multiple on a map). In single player though there's only one and that would be at your home base.
